"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The person who comes to clean my apartment once a week doesn't always do a good job. When they take us shopping on the bus, we only get one hour in the stores, which isn't enough time. The food isn't bad, but they could serve it better. The facility is nice, and I really like the staff here.

"Good Service, Needs Better Meals"
I’m really happy with how clean the place is, and whenever I need help with anything, there’s always someone from the staff ready to lend a hand. But, they could definitely do better with the food - sometimes it’s just not tasty at all.

"Spacious but too spread out; clean and pretty environment."
The Brookdale Cedar Springs place was really clean and nice-looking, but it felt too big and all over the place.

"Great Value and Friendly Service at Brookdale Cedar Springs"
We picked Brookdale Cedar Springs because she got a bedroom and a half, a full kitchen, a walk-out patio, and a good-sized living room all for a great price. The value here is unbeatable. The staff was really friendly and helpful, letting us visit before we made our choice. I’d definitely suggest this place to anyone looking.

"Affordable and pleasant assisted living with spacious rooms and dining."
This place smells really good whenever we come to visit! It's not too expensive, and they always respond quickly when we need something. My family member has a big room with lots of space and a nice patio, plus there's a dining room right here. We think this is a good deal compared to other places we looked at.

"Cedar Springs: Safe but Needs Improvement"
We picked Cedar Springs because it felt safe and secure. We were also drawn to its location and the quality of the dining room service and meals. However, my mom has been living there for more than two months now, and we've encountered some issues. The screens on her windows still haven't been replaced, and she's been dealing with a lot of ants. On top of that, activities are often cancelled and there seems to be a shortage of staff.

"Horrible Experience: Deceptive Pricing and No Dietary Consideration"
I'd strongly advise scratching this place off your list. from the facility fed me, my two aunts, and uncle nothing but barefaced lies - claiming services were part of the package when they weren't. For instance, she initially included medication dispensation in the cost, but it proves that it costs quite a significant amount of money. They don't even cater to individual dietary needs. As my mother is diabetic, she needs to prepare her meals now but gets no price reduction for not using their food service. To make things worse, they plan a $100 rent increase come January. They must be in a tricky financial situation; they're renting rooms out to visiting families at $60 per day now. There's one silver lining - the residents are friendly and my mom's room is always kept very clean. Nevertheless, I can't stress enough- stay clear of this place!

"Brookdale Overcharges, Refuses to Refund Deposit, Neglects Customer Service"
WATCH OUT FOR THIS PLACE! While considering an assisted living home for my dad, a lady from Brookdale made it seem like the ideal place. They demanded a $1,000 deposit, promising it would be given back if there was no damage. They also said if my dad needed to shift to a nursing home, we could inform them a month before and get the deposit back. Only two months after my dad moved in, health issues landed him in a hospital. He had to be moved to a nursing home. We gave Brookdale the month's notice. But they kept withdrawing rent from my dad's bank account even two months after he had left! Despite complaints and requests for the return of rent as well as deposit, they refused to refund the deposit, stating it was non-refundable. This was directly opposite to what they said earlier. We are now short of cash to pay for my dad's nursing home. Brookdale assured to return some of the money taken, but that would take 8 weeks! To prevent Brookdale from taking any more money, my sister and I have to close my dad's bank account. They seem to be only interested in making a profit out of seniors' life savings. If my sister and I weren't alert, they might have kept on taking out my dad's money. I STRONGLY discourage anyone from considering this place. Their customer service is completely disappointing! They only seem to care when they're trying to win your business.

"Deceptive practices at “A Place for Mom”-recommended facility"
I live out of state and planned to move my mom into this facility thinking it was recommended by "A place for mom," but that was a big mistake. Their sales rep, fed us false information. We were told my mom's rent, which is already set to go up in January, covered certain services, but it doesn't. The sales rep lied, misleading both my local family and me. I've joined mom for a meal a few times. It was alright, but they don't provide diabetic-friendly meals. My mom has to buy and prepare her own food, with no discount for not using their meals. Also, employees start eating leftover food right after we finish... not exactly subtle. The facility staff are friendly, that's for sure. We were promised a meeting with a corporate executive to address our concerns, but that never happened. In the end, I feel like I let my mom down. Other family have visited and seen that appearances can be misleading. Always read the fine print. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend Brookdale Cedar Springs.

"Cedar Springs Assisted Living: Warm Staff, Older Facilities"
Lynn Easterwood was really friendly and knew everyone’s names. The staff seemed happy in their jobs, and the residents were content. The food was good too. Cedar Springs is older, but some areas need updating. Putting new carpet in the halls would make a big difference. Keep in mind, though, the final decision isn’t mine, I’m just gathering info for my sister.
