"Mixed Staffing, Decent Care"
There was a lot of staff coming and going, both in the office and on the floor. The staff didn't have special training for memory care patients, but my mom stayed there. For regular care, it's okay.

"Mixed Feelings About Country Cottage Huntsville Assisted Living Tour"
Our family visited Country Cottage Huntsville for a tour. The tour was very informative, and we liked that they have fewer residents. However, this location wasn't quite what we were looking for.

"Avoid Country Cottage: Poor Food, Staffing and Care Issues"
My mom lived at Country Cottage Huntsville. To other families looking into this place, I have to say it doesn't have enough staff and the ones they have don't seem to be properly trained. Many (but not all) of them act as if just being there is doing the residents a big favor. They don't really show care or professional treatment to the residents. The food is really bad and doesn't provide good nutrition. One dinner my mom had here was just a hot dog on a cold bun and Ruffles chips. I honestly wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. I would recommend searching for a better, safer place that will truly care for your loved one.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Community"
I suggest checking out other communities before choosing this one for your friend. The director started off well, but things have declined. There's been no communication about issues like burst pipes. Our friend only complains about the food, which needs to be softer. I thought they'd take residents out for meals and activities, but that hasn't happened. Due to poor communication and other concerns, I wouldn't recommend this place for another loved one.

"Small and Outdated Facility"
We visited Country Cottage and I thought the director was nice. However, the place was too tiny, old, and worn out. It seemed like there weren't many fun things to do. Also, the rooms and closets were really small.

"Unimpressive layout and systems, but friendly staff."
I didn't like this place much. Small dining room, disconnected buildings. Pullcord system, not pendant. Staff nice.

"Impressive Care in Well-Maintained Facility"
My family member received excellent care. Despite a slight staffing shortage, the staff remained pleasant. The well-maintained, older facility impressed me.

"Peace of Mind and Caring Staff in Assisted Living Facility"
There are some changes in who works here often. The activities are usually in a different place. My mom says the food isn't very exciting. The people who have been here a long time are excellent and really kind. I can't say how wonderful the people who take care of older folks are. I feel relaxed at night because I know my mom is safe and they make sure she takes her medicine.

"Lovely Place to Live!"
Country Cottage is a really pretty community. It's super neat and tidy all over. The people who work there are really good at their jobs. They all could answer my questions and worries. They showed me the food options and activities plan, and there were lots of choices for everyone living there.

"Great options found during our recent tours!"
Toured two weeks ago and found good options for us. The facilities we visited were acceptable. We also checked out Madison Retirement Village and Brookdale Place, and they were both okay. We're planning to tour Harbor Chase on May 5. Gardens of Madison didn't fit our needs.

"Friendly Staff and Clean, Cozy Facility"
I was really impressed with the friendly and caring staff at Country Cottage. Everyone took the time to answer my questions and give helpful information. I also saw that they greeted each resident by name and asked how they were doing. The place was very clean and nicely decorated super comfortable. I feel great about moving my mom to Country Cottage, and I know she’ll love her new friends and home.

"Warmly Welcomed, Tracy was Helpful. Maybe the Place for Mom."
The people there were really nice, including the residents. I liked talking to Tracy, she’s an RA. She helped me understand everything better. Maybe this could be a good place for my mom. We'll let her decide, but I thought it was nice.

"Admission was fabulous"
We talked to several different communities, and the admission person for Country Cottage was amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and ensure it was the right fit. They even made an extra trip to make everything perfect. The food looks excellent, and the rooms are very nice, like hotel rooms. We are very pleased with Country Cottage and would recommend them to anyone.

"Unhappy Staff Resulting In Depressing Atmosphere At Assisted Living"
My better half goes there regularly like 3-4 times a week, mainly for meals. But the food's really terrible, it's sometimes hard to tell what they've served. Except for one or two, most of the staff seem pretty unhappy with their jobs. Once I saw five of them lounging around watching a video, and one was even sleeping! Turns out it was a training video when I asked. When they finally came out, they just looked grumpy, crossing their arms and frowning like there's no tomorrow. Job satisfaction seems low here, and it totally shows. Higher-ups should get that if the employees are miserable, it'll affect the people they're responsible for too. The elderly folks there seem really in need of company and something to do. They only have two outings a week - shopping on Tuesdays and meal trips on Fridays. But even these trips get cancelled when the van's busted or the driver gets sick. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but the gloominess here is undeniable, thanks mainly to the seemingly begrudging staff. There's almost no interaction between them and residents, and there aren't any place for hobbies or crafting either. Plus, we've had difficulties understanding extra charges by the Country Cottage, and sometimes can't even reach them in office. We've had to ask the staff to fetch our loved one for outings, and wish they'd make this a standard practice. The folks there need to be actively engaged and reminded of outings and activities to break the monotony. The aura of the place is... let's just say "quiet", to be nice. Despite the inviting outdoors, almost nobody ever ventures out; feels like the staff prefer them in their rooms. Dealing with the elderly needs special skills, and if new hires can snooze through training, it just doesn't bode well at all. And when we did complain, there was more of passing the buck than fixing it.
