"Decent Care Home Undergoing Changes, Needs Meal Improvement"
I think this care home is worth suggesting to people, especially because they take good care of the residents. There aren’t too many people living here, which is nice. The place is pretty cozy and it’s getting updated with a new owner, new staff, and some fix-ups. The home is super clean, but there’s one worker who could be a bit nicer. When it comes to the food for folks with memory issues, I don’t think it’s quite right—there are too many cold sandwiches being served.

"Unfair Practices Discovered at Local Assisted Living Facility"
This place isn't worth what they charge... they should be closed for good. My dad was wrongly placed in memory care when he didn't need to be, and they gave me a hard time when I tried to get him moved back to assisted living. I even had to pay extra $[removed] every month for 3 months while he was in memory care, even though his doctor said he shouldn't be there. I had to figure out how to get him out of there. I found out later that the state was investigating this place while all of this was happening.

"Small rooms, open doors; not for us, but maybe others."
We toured Proveer at Heritage Woods and thought the rooms were small. I didn't like most of the residents' doors being open as we walked down the hall. It just wasn't a fit for us, but it might be a good place for others.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Better Trained Staff and Food Delivery"
The place is nice, but staff need more training. Especially in memory care, where my mom stayed. They didn't interact with her much. The building looks good thanks to the maintenance crew. But the food and how it's served on the memory care side could be better. This place could be great with some improvements, especially in the CNA staff. If someone can handle themselves but just needs reminders, it might work okay.

"Nice Facility with Clean Environment and Friendly Staff; Chose Another Due to Timing"
I visited this place and it was good. It was clean and the people who worked there were nice. We picked a different place because they had an opening earlier, but this one was really nice too.

"Good Community, Needs More Activity Variety"
They could offer a wider range of activities, but we'd still suggest this place to other people.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Transition to SummerHouse"
When we first came here, it was Elmcroft, but now it’s called SummerHouse. They met with my loved one and it seemed like a good match. I hoped it would get her out of her room and interacting with others, but she hasn’t done that yet. It would be nice if the staff could encourage her to be more social. I would recommend this place to other families—I already have to some of our friends.

"Nice tour, but facility was too small for our needs"
We had a nice tour at SummerHouse. The rooms were a good size, but the whole place was smaller than we wanted. It just wasn’t the right fit for us.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"
I wouldn't suggest this place. The workers are nice, but they don't seem too involved with the residents. There aren't many things for them to do. I've asked to get my mom's closet doors fixed, but it still hasn't happened. They suggested using a curtain instead, but that's not what I'm paying for.

"Excellent Assisted Living Choice with Great Amenities and Caring Staff"
We picked Elmcroft because everything's included. They assessed my mom and have been super helpful, handling lots of things I don't need to worry about. Her one-bedroom setup is spacious—she fits a bed, recliner, drawers, and a TV with room to spare. The food is really tasty, made by chefs. The staff are friendly, always going out of their way for residents. They plan special days where residents go out to eat or do something they enjoy. I'd recommend it to others looking for a place.

"Mixed Experience at Elmcroft Assisted Living"
We picked Elmcroft because we visited and it was super clean. The price was better than other places, and the staff was really nice. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the administration was helpful. The rooms were big enough for my dad—he had his own bedroom but shared a den area. They didn't communicate much unless it was about COVID. It was supposed to be a great experience, but COVID changed everything.

"Community Lacks Communication, Otherwise Nice"
I liked this place, but I didn't pick it because they don't talk much.

"Convenient and Good Value: Elmcroft Assisted Living Review"
We picked Elmcroft because it was easy for us and someone I knew had a good time here years ago. It’s been good with keeping in touch since I can't visit. It’s tough not being able to go inside, but I’d likely suggest it.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Great Service and Care"
My sister-in-law is doing well at the assisted living place. It took her a bit to get used to it, but now she enjoys being there. The people who work there are really nice and take good care of her. She doesn't have to worry about remembering her medicine because they help her with that. She's even made some friends there. Sometimes, the staff even wash her hair for her. She's happy with the care she gets and likes the food too. Overall, it's been a much better experience for her at this place.

"Wonderful staff and great care for residents!"
We're so happy with Elmcroft of Heritage Woods! The place is clean and nice-looking, and the staff is amazing! They truly care about the residents. We first put my loved one in their memory care unit, but after a few weeks, they suggested she would be better in the assisted living wing. They were right! I really appreciated that they made this recommendation even though it meant less money for them, just to make sure my loved one was in the best place for her comfort.

"A comfortable home for dad"
I’m really happy with the care at this home. The staff are always caring and make sure to meet his needs. The community is clean and well-kept. We appreciate that he gets the attention he needs. It feels like a family here, and the residents seem comfortable. It’s comforting to know they make him feel at ease. I would recommend this place to other families.

"Elmcroft's care was disappointing, frequent visits advised."
My mom stayed at Elmcroft of Heritage Woods, but it wasn't the best experience. We decided to move her out because the care wasn't what we thought it would be. If you decide to have a loved one live at Elmcroft, visit frequently, at all hours. And don't be shy about speaking up.

"Amazing memory care and unbeatable service!"
We moved our Dad into memory care in February and we couldn’t be happier with Elmcroft. The one-on-one attention he gets, the care, and the cost are unbeatable. Dad will make many great memories here.

"Helpful and Caring Staff Enhance Residents' Experience"
I believe their meals are really good. Most of the staff is helpful and caring. A few staff members could improve. I think they should offer additional activities for residents who can't go out. This would benefit those with less mobility and independence.

"Great place for my parents!"
We moved my parents here in July and we are so happy. The nursing staff are awesome and very caring. My parents use the call button a lot and the staff always respond quickly and are super nice. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a place for their loved ones!

"Poor Medication Management Causes Harm at Elmcroft"
We didn't have a great time at Elmcroft of Heritage Woods, sadly. It looks okay and the staff are nice. But they didn't take good care of our family member. After only a week, they messed up her medication, causing her to fall. I want to warn families with loved ones needing medication to be very careful here.

"Very Dissatisfied with Elmcroft's Care and Management"
I just can't suggest that anyone take their loved one to Elmcroft of Heritage Woods. My mom was living there from 2013 to 2014. During her stay, I faced tons of issues with the staff who were running the place. The whole team, including the nurses, were replaced in early 2014. I hoped this change would make things better, but it didn't. My mom had a nasty fall in the shower back in June 2014 at Elmcroft. A caregiver was supposed to be helping her, but turned away, and my mom slipped. After the incident, her health worsened quickly and she needed professional care. She's at another center in Mobile now, getting the proper care that she didn't receive at Elmcroft.

"Best choice for care; mom loved her stay here."
The best decision I ever made. My mother loved her short stay here. It's my only choice if I need to be away for a long time.

"Midnight Fall Leads to Nursing Home Move"
My mom stayed at this place for eleven days. One late night, when nobody was watching her, she decided to go for a walk, but ended up falling and breaking her hip. I was not happy about this at all. Despite this, I still think the place was generally okay. The activities they had for the residents were appropriate, the food was tolerable, and the staff was super nice. After my mom got hurt, though, I decided to move her to a nursing home where she would have care available all the time.
