Galleria Woods - a CCRC

"Great Place for Golden Years and New Friends"
I’ve lived in a garden home here for 8 years and I’d tell anyone who’s looking to enjoy their older days to come join us. The coolest part is getting to know lots of neat people. A bunch of them moved to Birmingham to be closer to their kids or other family. They’re all excited to make new buddies in this pretty place and the area around it.

"Assisted Living Community Review"
This place has 24 small apartments for folks needing help. The shared spaces felt more like a hospital than cozy. Because it's small, there's a waitlist. The person we talked to knew a lot and worked with our busy schedule.

The facility is very clean and beautiful. Allows for Independent Living, Assisted Living and Monitored Living as needed. Of the 5 facilities we visited, Galleria Woods had the floor plan that was our favorite. The resident’s safety, enjoyment, comfort and wellbeing are a high priority of Galleria Woods. The cons for us were: While lease cost is on the lower end Galleria Woods requires a Life Care Option, which is quite expensive. For the unit we looked at, the cost was $151,000 for 0% Refund Plan or $200,000 for 50% Refund Plan, in addition to the monthly lease amount. This may not be as much of a financial burden on a senior if they are selling their residence to move into Galleria Woods. We have no timeframe for selling Mom's house so it would be a financial burden to raise that startup cost. Meal package only includes 1 meal per day. Other communities we visited provided Breakfast + Lunch or Dinner. Cable TV is excluded in lease cost.

"Pleased with Facility, Awaiting Family Experience"
The place is really nice. The apartments have lots of space and everything you need. People living there are busy and look happy. [Removed] was super helpful with my questions and had great ideas for what my parents might need. I’m only giving it 4 stars because none of my family has moved in yet.

"Lovely place with spacious apartments, active residents, and helpful staff."
This place is really nice. The apartments are big and have everything you need. The people who live there seem happy and do lots of things together. They were really nice and helped me with my questions about my parents. I didn't give 5 stars because my family isn't living there yet.

"Underwhelming Tour and Facility!"
I wasn't too impressed with this place. It wasn't very tidy and my quick tour fell short of showing me all the important bits. I got to see the rooms and eating area, but I missed seeing how the staff and folks living there get along. The things to do and features they offer didn't meet my hopes. I wish my tour had been a bit better.

"Took A Tour!"
My mother-in-law is going to live in this community. Our family visited the place, and we found it to be clean and well-organized. The guide provided all the necessary information about the community, and the staff we met during the tour were friendly. The layout also suited our loved one’s needs.

"Felt at Home Instantly—Friendly Staff and Fun Activities!"
I felt at home as soon as I arrived! Everyone was so friendly. The buildings are well-built, well-kept, and nicely decorated. I love all the activities—it feels like being on a cruise ship all the time! Plus, the food is both tasty and healthy. I stayed overnight for a trial and met some residents, asking questions. The apartment was cozy and peaceful, and all my needs were met. I strongly recommend trying this if you're thinking about Galleria Woods! I’m excited to join Galleria Woods soon!

"Overall Nice Community with Minor Integration Issues"
This place is really nice! It's so pretty and the staff are super friendly. They work hard to keep it clean, which is awesome. The only big problem we had was when my parents moved in. I think the staff could have been a bit more understanding of my parents' feelings and helped them adjust better. They were really nice and tried to make my parents feel welcome, but my parents got overwhelmed because they were used to living alone for a long time. There were too many people coming to say hi and inviting them to do stuff. I know they meant well, but it was a bit too much for my parents at first.

A Place For Mom Customer
"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"
I really liked the director. But I'm not completely sold on their plan. The villas were nice, though. Honestly, I wondered if it was a bit of a hustle. On the bright side, they assured me that the deposit is refundable within 60 days.

"Enjoyed Head, Unsure of Plan and Villas, Deposit is Refundable"
Great Director, Doubts About the Plan and Villas. Told the deposit can be returned within two months if needed. Wasn't sure if it's all just a gimmick.
