Summer Village at Azalea Place

"Left due to cost, maintenance issues, and independence"
I left Summer Village for several reasons. First, I'm doing better and don't need that level of support. The cost increased more than expected, and other residents told me it was the second increase in a year. I didn't experience the first one because I was still under lease. The quality of the food and choices got worse. I picked my apartment because I could glass in the screened patio for a sewing room. When I moved in, I found a leak in the patio roof, so I couldn't proceed with my plan. It was never fixed during the 13 months I was there. Maintenance was so busy they couldn't complete small jobs they had agreed to. Housekeeping was supposed to come weekly but often came much later, sometimes up to a month. Since I no longer needed their support services, I found a very nice apartment back in Columbus for a little over one-third the cost of Summer Village. This allowed me to handle the extra cost of electricity and food without difficulty and still save something for emergencies. I'm loving my new place and getting back into cooking for myself, which is having a positive effect on my health. While I would still recommend Summer Village for someone who needs that level of support, I feel that I'm too independent for their community.

"Assisted Living Needs Improved Staff Responsiveness"
The facility is okay, but maintenance needs improvement. My in-laws initially liked the food, but found most of the meat to be too greasy. The main issues lie with the corporate and office staff. The staff are often unavailable, and corporate takes too long to answer questions from residents or their own employees. Billing is confusing, and nobody can clarify it.

"Lovely Community with Great Food and Caring Residents"
The food here is really good. We chose this place because A Place for Mom said it was good. The bosses need to do more for the workers. It's just a really nice place to look at, and I like coming here. The people who live here are very nice, and overall it's a good place. I think anyone would like it here.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Our family found this place to be a good match for our loved one. The staff are friendly, but we noticed that many dining room workers change frequently. I've joined my loved one for meals and even pitched in to help serve others. They serve three meals daily with options. Safety, security, and care for our loved one are our top priorities here. There are plenty of activities available, though more proactive staff would enhance resident engagement.

"Friendly Staff, But Understaffed"
The workers here are really nice folks. It’s just that there aren’t enough of them, which seems to be a common issue these days.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The place looks good, but activities decreased lately. Common areas are clean, but carpets need better cleaning. Rooms are usually clean, but floors sometimes feel sticky. Staff are all great. Meals were good during tour, but might be tough for some residents. Bread seems frozen, even toasting doesn't always help.

"Top-rated assisted living: excellent care and amenities for residents"
This place is the best community you could ask for if you need assisted living. They take good care of the residents, give them vaccines, and make sure they're comfortable during the pandemic. I'm happy with everything they do here. They're also adding physical therapy and a room with exercise equipment for the residents.

"Cleanliness issues, staffing shortages, and additional charges; not recommended."
My mom says the place hasn't been cleaned since COVID. They don't have enough staff. Now they're making my mom and others pay $5 to have their food brought to them, and $2.50 if they go to the dining room to get it. I wouldn't suggest anyone put their loved ones there.

"Excited for the move to Summer Village at Camilla Place"
My mother is moving into one of the new villas at Summer Village at Camilla Place. The villa is brand new, and she’s really excited about the spacious kitchen and bathroom. The meal we had there was good too. Everyone we met, both staff and residents, were very friendly.

"Great Community with Friendly Staff"
I took a tour of this place and it was good. The staff were really nice. The building had a nice layout, easy to walk around. I liked the things they had for activities, and the food sounded yummy. It was a good visit, but it didn't quite fit what my mom needed.
