"Just Okay Assisted Living Tour, Not for Our Loved One"
Our family went to see the place in person. We felt it was alright, but it didn’t make a great first impression. So, we decided it’s not the right fit for our family member.

"Brookdale's Service Marked by Medication Errors and Management Issues"
Brookdale conducted an assessment with a skilled rehab facility that my family member was in, and the prices seemed fine. However, we were shocked when the first month's fees were more than expected. We were then informed that the director made an error on the cost. I received a call from an aide saying that my family member needed hospitalization. I wish a nurse had been the one to relay this information instead. From there, things just seemed to get worse for my family member and us. There were issues with my loved one's medications during their stay, which led to a deadly mistake. I feel as if they stole precious time from my family member. Our experiences with the top medication technician were not great and we're still receiving invoices from Brookdale. The frustrations seemed constant when I went to visit my family member, as if I was always solving problems rather than enjoying our time together. The head nurse was seldom present and the management team behaved very poorly towards us and my loved one. The top medication tech undermined our decision to provide our loved one with morphine as part of their end of life care. We felt manipulated into choosing a specific hospice service, only to later discover unethical financial arrangements with Brookdale. In the end, the director left without any warning to the families or residents.

"Fantastic food and growth with heartfelt connections"
The assisted living facility has almost everything we need. The food is much better than any local restaurant. I've seen our community grow and improve over time. It's all about making real connections with each other.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Food Quality and Medication Management"
We picked Brookdale East Arbor because it was secure and urgent for us to find a place as she was starting to wander. The rooms were okay. But the food wasn't good; it seemed more like store-bought than fresh. They messed up my mom's meds, and she had to go to another facility. Overall, I wouldn't suggest it.

"Great Community with Helpful Staff and Unique Programs"
Brookdale East Arbor has been a wonderful place so far. The director, [Removed], was very helpful during our first visit. The staff is great and shows a lot of respect for the residents. However, I do wish they encouraged my loved one a bit more to join in activities and be less inactive. I really like the size of the community; it seems to balance assisted living and memory care well. The snowbird program is also a nice touch for family members from colder areas who want to visit during the winter. Overall, this community is excellent and definitely worth considering.

"Warm and welcoming community with attentive staff, a top choice."
I really wanted my loved one to stay at Brookdale East Arbor. It's a lovely and neat place. The staff was super nice and tried really hard to meet our needs. They were quick to respond to any questions or worries I had about the care. But we're moving to another place that can give us the extra help we need.

"A tour for care"
This is a small but nice community. We liked the staff and how clean everything was. However, it didn’t quite have the feeling we were hoping for. During our tour, we didn’t see many activities for the residents. Although it seemed like a good place, they didn’t offer the level of care we needed. Families looking for care for their loved ones should definitely take a tour.

"Respite Stay Falls Short on Care Needs"
My relative's short stay at this assisted living place was okay. We appreciated how the staff encouraged everyone to join in activities every day. The meals were tasty, and the place was tidy. However, I suggest asking plenty of questions because they didn't seem to provide the right level of care for my relative.

"Highly recommend this caring community!"
I am really happy with the care my mom is getting. She is doing great and feels happy there. She participates in activities and enjoys spending time with the other residents. The staff is the best part of this community; they are kind, compassionate, and friendly. My mom seems to like the food, which is important. However, I do have some concerns about nutrition, especially at breakfast. I would recommend this community.

"A community tour for mom"
We toured this community for my mom's care. The staff was friendly, and the dining area was nice, though she wanted something a little different. They could improve by updating the outdoor furniture to make it more comfortable for the residents. We recommend families check this place out for their loved ones.

"Mixed Feelings About Brookdale East Arbor"
When we visited Brookdale East Arbor, it seemed more focused on Alzheimer's care. My family member didn't need that level of attention yet. Also, having to be buzzed in felt a bit inconvenient, even though I get it's for safety.

"Husband's care improving gradually."
My husband is doing pretty well here. I've been talking to the director about fixing some things. The staff leaves at 5 PM, which is also when dinner starts. This means only two people are left to clean up and help residents get ready for bed. I pay extra so my husband can have help from two people because he's a big guy. On Sunday, there were only two caretakers, leaving 40 other residents without help if they need it. The director listened to me and said they'll adjust the schedule. They're really trying hard to make things better for us. We picked Brookdale because it was the place my husband liked best after we visited a few.

"A Welcoming Home!"
The Brookdale has been a great place for my mom since she moved in. The staff are all friendly and handle problems quickly. They say she's participating in the activities they organize. The only thing they could improve is communication. When she first moved in, they had items in her room that didn't belong to her. Overall, they take good care of her, and the price is affordable.

"A Caring Tour"

"Not Our Fit: A Closer Look"
The community felt quite different and smaller. We noticed that this place is more suited for assisted living, not our specific needs. The apartments are smaller, and there's no cooking area—just tiny refrigerators. Overall, it didn't seem like the right fit for my mom, maybe others would find it suitable, but not us.

"Healthcare Staff Care Puts Damper on Assisted Living Recommendation"
My mom recently stayed here for a short break. It's a tidy place and they do a decent job keeping everything spick and span. Most of the people working there ain't bad. But I wasn't too happy with the medical nurses and how they treated my mom. As it stands, I can't really suggest this place.

"Decent Facility, But Unsatisfactory Communication"
This place is neat and has comfy rooms. My dad lived here and really liked the music activities. The workers are kind and keep his room clean. But, I'm not too happy with how they talked to me. They didn't keep some promises and didn't call me back when I needed them. At first, everything was good and I had no problems, but now, I'm let down with how it turned out.

"A Caring Home for Mom"
My wife and I wanted a place with a caring staff and a homey feel, and we found it here. Mom is having a hard time adjusting, but everyone at Brookdale E. Arbor is being very helpful and caring. It’s a tough situation because we all know our aging family needs extra care. We’re very thankful to have a place where Mom can still have social interaction, something we couldn’t provide.

"Friendly but not suitable for my mom."
I talked to the people who run the place over the phone and figured out that this kind of home isn't right for my mom. It looks nice and everyone seems friendly, but it's more like living in a big group home, and that's not what we're looking for.

"RUN from This Inhumane Assisted Living Facility"
I cannot emphasize how awful this place is for you to entrust your family members! While touring the facility, I caught the Marketing Manager, lying to me over six times! When I confronted her, we were rudely kicked out - even with our loved one already living there. She even locked us out of the building! We had no choice but to call Mesa PD as our loved one's civil rights were being trampled over. Even after countless discussions with higher-ups, the issue only got partially resolved. We lost $200 for travel expenses to Mesa - something that even the Regional Vice President seemed nonchalant about. It's been 8 weeks and I'm still waiting for their official response over reimbursement. I'm not hopeful! Avoid this place if you can! It is miserably understaffed, without adequate skills, training or even the basic intent to properly care for its residing elderly. My loved one was hospitalized twice because of serious health complications - pneumonia and C Diff. Both times it was outside help, not the Sterling House staff, who arranged the hospital visits. The thought of what could have happened if I was not personally visiting thrice weekly is daunting! This is alarmingly terrible service! To make things worse, the Executive Director dismissed my concerns about the C Diff situation, only to have my loved one hospitalized two days later. And yet, I'm still waiting for a callback from the Regional VP for three days now. This borders on neglect! Don't waste a moment - get away from this place and find somewhere genuine for your loved ones!

"Struggles with Alzheimer's Despite Admirable Efforts and Great Food"
My mom is currently living here but won't stay much longer. They seem to struggle with her Alzheimer's and require many discussions and conversations. We thought we could trust them and take a step back to just be her kids, but that's not the case. Mom's found some great women she really likes even though some residents here are fairly low functioning. The first impression might be scary, but give it a chance. The absolute highlight here is He- he cooks delicious food and is really friendly and enthusiastic. The building is small enough to feel cozy but looks nice, and the rooms are beautiful. Even though my mom has tough behavioral problems due to her Alzheimer's, which is why we needed Memory Care, they charge extra because she needs extra attention! As her disease progresses, she will probably get worse! At least she can't remember all of this. We might be a unique case, and I don't want to bash them because they do seem professional and work hard. Perhaps they just need to work on their customer service. Though they're a small team, the care staff is excellent. We've been through this before and are comparing, but there's just too much left for us to handle. This place is probably good for those without Alzheimer's.

"Clean, Helpful Staff, Close to Home"

The people who work there are nice. The food is okay, I've had it a few times. They do a decent job, considering what they're supposed to do. They take care of the patients pretty well. I can't think of anything right now that needs to be made better. I'm pleased with it.

The staff here is both professional and friendly. The residents get along well, which was really important to me. Services are provided quickly, and there are plenty of activities. The facility is easy to navigate since it’s all on one level, which is great for people with balance issues. The food is also good.

"Warm Welcome and Peace of Mind at Brookdale Community"
I took my mother-in-law to tour the Brookdale Community, and we were really impressed with everything they offer. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with friendly and enthusiastic staff. They genuinely cared about the challenges we were facing and went beyond what I expected. They kept me updated on her well-being since she moved in since I live far away. The staff is amazing, and I could keep praising them, but I’ll stop there. The facility was not just clean, but it smelled clean, which was very important to me I’ve visited other senior places that didn’t smell so great. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the other residents were friendly and seemed happy. I got to join in some activities with my mother-in-law, and she really enjoyed interacting with the other ladies. I’m really thankful for the organized activities that help her stay engaged rather than just watching TV all day. My husband and I now feel at ease knowing she’s safe and happy. She didn’t want to live where we are now, and we were unsure how to meet her needs and wishes. As soon as we walked into Brookdale, we knew we had found the right place. She told me, "This is home."

"Welcoming atmosphere, varied rooms, and caring staff make it exceptional."
The staff is really nice and they spend time talking to the residents. They use some kind of air freshener in the hallways which makes them smell good. Everything is kept clean. There are different kinds of rooms you can choose from. Some rooms are for people with memory problems and some are for people without memory problems.

"Loved the place, but cautious about billing"
My dad didn't want to go, but I loved this place. It looked great, the people were super nice, and it was the perfect size—not too big, not too small. It was clean, bright, and the hallways were wide. The staff was really kind, but I didn't realize I'd be signing a contract so soon, which made me nervous. They offered me a good room and asked for a deposit, which made me a bit scared. I came back, paid the deposit, and signed a long contract. I got emotional and asked what would happen if my dad didn't come. The staff talked to their regional rep and made a deal with me. I agreed, but then my dad refused to move in. I had to pay for two weeks he wasn't even there and lost some of the deposit, but they gave me half back. I liked this place more than others I visited, but I'd be cautious about the billing.

"Great community for everyone!"
We looked at many communities, and Sterling House of Mesa was the best choice for our loved one. All the residents are treated equally, whether they have Alzheimer's or not. Each new resident gets three sponsors to help them adjust. They take them to meals and activities, helping them feel included. Plus, it was less expensive than similar communities. We highly recommend this place to anyone, even my close friends.
