"Lacks Staff and Overcharges: Disappointing Experience at Brookdale North Scottsdale"
Our experience with Brookdale North Scottsdale assisted living was disappointing. It seems like they don't have enough staff, and they lack warmth when caring for residents who need help. The employees seemed worn out and overworked. They told me they would tailor their care to meet my dad's specific needs, and they even made a thorough list of these services. But after billing me for these services, they never actually carried them out. They're short-staffed and overcharge. Heartbreakingly, my dear father passed away just 15 days after moving in.

"Brookdale North Scottsdale: Broken Promises and Constant Changes"
Picking Brookdale North Scottsdale was a mistake. Their sales rep was super impressive, but once we got in, none of his promises was kept. Since moving my loved one in, it has been a nightmare. There was a huge turnover in staff and just when I thought they were on the verge of closing, even more people left. The situation forces me to keep my loved one there, as it's not easy to move them again. Recently, they had another shake-up and it seems they're trying to make some changes. However, they decided to increase the rent at the start of the year - a move I don't approve of considering their already short staff and safety issues. They're now getting better, but just in time for another rent increase in five months. It's been a tough road, and I'm hopeful for long-lasting changes along with significant improvements. I'm seeing now how they're stepping up in ways that they should have done a long time back!

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
In the beginning, my mom's stay at the home was great, almost perfect. But after a while, they kept changing the people in charge and the workers, like, all the time. Things got worse, and they didn't have enough staff. Right before my mom passed away, she got a bad cut on her hand. She was in a special care area and couldn't have done it to herself. I think someone hurt her to take her ring, which she couldn't even take off because her fingers were swollen from her arthritis. It was really sad, and I'm sure it happened there because she was wearing it in a photo, but then it was gone when I had to rush her to the hospital. She never went anywhere else. It was a painful time for us, especially since she was so sick and couldn't remember to tell us what happened. The place tried to find out who did it but couldn't. The person running the house was awesome, and there were some staff who had been there a long time and really cared for my mom. I was super happy with the place in the first year and would've told everyone to go there, but I wouldn't say that now.

"Mixed Bag at Assisted Living: Close, Tasty Food, but Small Rooms"
Good things: It's nearby, Dad enjoyed the food, and everything's included for $5,000 per month. Not-so-good things: Most residents are older (average age 80) and the rooms are small.

"Nice, Yet Pricey Community With No Individual Apartments"
When I dropped by, this community looked pretty nice. However, they don't provide personal apartments, just rooms with bathrooms. Plus, it was a bit pricier than our budget.

My mom stays at Brookdale, and she says it's good. She hasn't had any issues, and the staff email me about activities. They haven't reached out besides that.

"Definitely Recommended!"
I would definitely recommend Brookdale North Scottsdale. My husband stayed there for a two-week respite stay, and we will definitely come back for future needs. He could take his own medications and only needed someone to check in on him occasionally, and they did. They did everything they said they would, and the price was exactly as they quoted. There was a small mix-up with the billing, but they fixed it right away. No complaints at all. The place is very clean, unlike some places that have that urine smell. The staff is super friendly and caring. The best part for my husband is there are many male residents at Brookdale North Scottsdale. He has stayed at many nursing homes where there were mostly women. They also make a big deal about veterans here, and since my husband is a vet, this was a big plus. The food is excellent, with wonderful choices like veal, shrimp, and other diabetic options. They serve a sugar-free dessert with every meal, even if it’s just vanilla ice cream—it’s sugar-free! I have already recommended Brookdale North Scottsdale to several people.

"Quality Care with Dedicated Staff"
After visiting multiple places, we found this community best suited our needs and Mom's care. Staff responds promptly when Mom needs help. Many have been here 2 to 5 years. Meals are okay, not fantastic. They're addressing slow service. Overall, Mom's doing well.

"Brookdale North Scottsdale: Nice Tour, Clean Community, High Cost"
I went on a cool tour of Brookdale North Scottsdale. The people working there were friendly, and the place was really clean. They have fun stuff to do, too. It seemed like a really nice place to live. But, the cost was just a little too much for us.

"A Great Experience at Brookdale!"
My dad stayed at the facility for just a month, and he was starting to adjust to his new home. The staff was amazing, and we got to know the other residents. They even held a memorial service for my dad, which meant a lot to our family. The care was top-notch, especially the work they did with my dad in Physical Therapy. Thanks to their help, he was able to use his walker again. Overall, we had a really positive experience, and we’d recommend this place to anyone. They truly went above and beyond.

"Overall, a positive community!"
The staff at the assisted living facility were easy to reach, always making sure to communicate with the doctor's office when needed. They were also understanding when my mom's stay had to be extended. The caregivers treated my mom kindly and were patient with her. While the dining staff were friendly, the service was slow, and they didn't consistently follow through on our requests to help my mom with the menu and pre-cutting her food. On the positive side, the building is clean and has welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces. It would be great if they designated more handicap parking spaces near the main entrance for residents and guests who need them.

The care was excellent for my dad during his respite stay. He joined many activities and met a lot of people. My dad was very happy with the meals. They kept the community clean and it was satisfactory. They made my dad feel so comfortable that he wanted to stay permanently. I would recommend them.

"The Transition Is Getting Better"
My mom's journey at the assisted living facility had a challenging start, but things are improving. The staff, while mostly excellent, varies in quality. They're kind and encouraging, but the activities seem misleading—posted but rarely attended. The food lacks presentation, often overcooked and dry, though it's at least warm. Young dining room staff sometimes struggle with meal ingredients. Cleanliness is an issue; they don't do a great job. Thankfully, A Place For Mom provided wonderful help.

""Not Bad, But Needs More Activities - Brookdale North Scottsdale""
My mom is doing alright at Brookdale North Scottsdale. The place looks really nice, no issues about it being clean. Everyone's super nice and has been really helpful with taking care of my mom. The people working there know what they're doing. I'm happy with them. The one bad thing is, there ain't many fun things to do. They could try harder to get the people living there more involved. I'm not sure whether I'd say people should send their family here or not.

"Excellent Staff, Dining Service Issues"
First, the staff was super friendly, but they didn't have enough people working. My mom felt really safe there. The other residents were nice, and the whole place had a good vibe. But the food wasn't great. The dining room was always short-staffed, and meals took forever. Sometimes they even ran out of menu items, which was frustrating. On the bright side, the caregivers were mostly excellent and seemed to genuinely care about my mom.

"Good place, but wish for more inclusions with the cost"
The Brookdale is a good place. However, considering the cost, I wish there were more things included in the rent. You pay the rent and then have to pay extra for additional services. Besides that, everything is pretty good. The inside of Brookdale is very clean and the facility is nice. Everyone is very friendly, and the friendliness is excellent. I'm really happy with this place. It's been very good.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living with Spacious Rooms"
The rooms are big and always clean. The staff is nice. It was tricky to get info once my family member moved in. It's hard to reach them by phone. But I'd still say it's a good place. Brookdale North Scottsdale is super friendly. I gave it 5 stars for friendliness. Everybody, including the residents, is kind and friendly.

"Great staff, spacious rooms, but some issues."
The staff here is really nice. They're always looking out for my mom and making sure she gets the care she needs. Her room is big and gets a lot of light, which is good. But the air conditioner is kinda loud, and the people who clean could do a better job. Plus, there's not a lot of parking, which can be frustrating. On the bright side, there's plenty of stuff to do during the week. But the food service has some problems. Overall, though, the staff has been amazing to my mom and my family. We're glad she's here.

"Personal and Friendly"
Mom’s new home is a great fit. Staff quickly address any concerns, though some dining servers need better training. The Inn keeps us informed with newsletters and monthly calendars. Music and entertainment are frequent, and the activities director, Kelly Coleman, is upbeat. We love the renovated space and spacious patios—definitely the right choice!

"Activities Seem Improved"
The place is really nice, and the people are friendly. We haven't moved in yet, so we're not sure how it'll be. But when we visited, we saw the programs they offer instead of just hearing promises. The memory care has 5 or 6 activities every day, and it seems like they have a good mix of male and female residents. Overall, it looks like a higher-functioning program.

"Nice place, a tad expensive; rooms smaller than Mom’s current."
This place looks really nice, but it's kind of pricey. The rooms are smaller than what my mom has at her current place. We might consider it in the future, but it's not our top choice right now.

"Positive Reviews for New Assisted Living Facility Despite Limited Group Space"
This place has gotten positive reviews from families. It's in a new building which makes a nice first impression. There are 3 nurses working on each floor, ensuring adequate care. Additionally, they offer 3 levels of care for different needs. The one-bedroom units are 500 square feet, while the two-bedroom ones are around 800 square feet. They mix independent living with assisted living, which creates a great atmosphere. The place has a nice energy to it, though it lacks ample space for group activities. It's quite popular too, with a 97% occupancy rate.
