"Safe and Caring Environment for Seniors"

This place is really nice for older folks who need some help. The staff are friendly and always ready to lend a hand. They keep everything clean and tidy, which is important. My grandma seems happy here, and that's what matters most to us. The food is okay, not amazing but not bad either. They have activities and things for people to do, which keeps everyone busy and social. Overall, it's a good place for seniors who need a little extra help but still want to feel independent.

"Friendly and Helpful Assisted Living with Great Scenery"

I would suggest this place to others because everyone is very helpful and nice. It's a nice place to live with wonderful views. I chose this community because of the activities, and it's outside the city.

"Friendly Community Despite Staffing Shortage"

I've told others about this place. Right now, the main problem is that they don't have enough staff, so things take longer to get done. But other than that, my loved one really likes it here. Everyone is very friendly.

"Mixed Experiences at Brookdale"

Brookdale seemed nice. They offer separate independent living, assisted living, and memory care. The tour guide was absent, and the replacement seemed clueless. My friends' loved ones are happy here.

"Bright Rooms, Varied Care, Pricey Rent"

The assisted living facility feels new and cheerful. The rooms are designed for people who have already downsized more than we have. We appreciated the wide range of care services available, although it's not very accessible for people with disabilities. There are only a few parking spots reserved for handicap use. The monthly rent for assisted living here is higher compared to other places in Tucson.

"Great location, excellent amenities, and friendly, accommodating staff."

My wife and I moved to Brookdale Santa Catalina four years ago, and we're really happy we did. As we’re getting older, we wanted to avoid the responsibilities of maintaining a house and yard and didn't need all our old belongings. We were living in southwest Florida and checked out several retirement communities there, but they either required a big upfront payment or felt like hotels. Since our son lives in Tucson, we decided to look at places here. From the moment we visited Brookdale Santa Catalina, we knew it was the place for us. We love its location in the foothills of the Santa Catalina mountains, with amazing views of Tucson below. It’s quiet compared to city locations, and the scenery is beautiful with the mountains just a short walk away. The area is a gated community with lovely homes and desert landscaping, perfect for walking with minimal traffic and great views. We were impressed that all buildings are only two stories high and connected by paved walkways. The main building has a large lounge for community events, concerts, and meetings, and a library nearby. The dining room upstairs has fantastic views of the mountains and Tucson valley. The chefs offer varied menus twice a day, and the friendly servers quickly learn our names and go the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Tipping isn’t allowed. The staff in all departments are very accommodating. Our community has a wide range of activities, both on campus and off, including trips to restaurants, events, and museums. There’s also a hair salon, gym, and heated swimming pool. I especially enjoy swimming outdoors with views of the mountains! We get in-house movies every night on our apartment TVs. The Independent Living apartments range from two-bedroom suites to smaller units and one-bedroom options. Rent is monthly, and you can move out with two months' notice. All apartments have emergency pull cords and a “check-in” button. There’s also an Assisted Living building with skilled nursing and memory-care facilities.

"Old, cramped facility layout not to our liking at all."

The place seemed really old, and the rooms were tiny, especially the kitchens. We didn't like how confusing the layout was, with lots of stairs and ramps. It just wasn't what we were looking for.

"Lacking Accessibility for Disabled Visitors"

This place isn't very good for people with disabilities. There's no ramp from the main parking lot to the office or community center, and there aren't enough parking spots for disabled people. It's also hard to get around with a walker.

This place isn't suitable for those with mobility issues who want to live independently.

"Assisted Living Costs Too Much, Not All-Inclusive"

The assisted living place costs too much for us. It feels like you have to pay extra for everything you need, not all the stuff is included.

"Facility Management Issues"

My mom has lived at La Rosa (Assisted Care and Alzheimer's Care) for over 2 years. It was good when we moved in, BUT management has become a big problem. They've changed key managers, including the Executive Director, Head of Nursing, and event coordinators, all in the last 14 months. These roles are crucial for a caring, well-organized facility. Unfortunately, the lack of good management leads to staff turnover, inconsistent nursing care, and overall staff unhappiness.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living community"

We didn't like this place much during the tour. When we visited, things weren't as smooth as we hoped. However, someone I know has their parent there and they both really like it. We just didn't feel the same way.

"Smaller, Personal Community with Polite Staff and Detailed Answers"

I had a good tour of this community for myself. The staff were nice and made sure to answer all my questions in detail. The facility was a bit larger than I prefer. I wanted something more personal and smaller for where I'll live.
