"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Staff and Communication"
My family's experience with the assisted living facility was disappointing. They're short-staffed, which affects various services. Choices for meals are limited and the quality isn't up to par. Housekeeping is supposed to come every other week, but we have to call to ensure it's done. We weren't informed about food limitations or guest dining restrictions. Staff communication is okay, but sometimes calls aren't returned due to their busy and short-staffed nature.

"Memory Care Area Too Cramped Great Tour Guide, Tiny Rooms"
The tour guide was really good. We were checking out the memory care section, but it's really small. All the residents seemed squished in, and the rooms were super tiny.

"Poor Service at Assisted Living, Unfriendly to Alzheimer's Patients"
You should avoid sending your beloved relative to this place. The workers don't know what they're doing and the person in charge is even worse! They couldn't take care of someone with Alzheimer's and sent him away after just 14 days. It seems the only people they can handle in their memory care unit are super drugged up so they don't cause any hassle. And forget about getting the person in charge to address any problems. That's as hard as pulling out a tooth without any tools! They just don't get it and don't care about what the resident is going through. They're just interested in making money. You'd be much better off with Parkland or a facility dedicated to memory care if your person has Alzheimer's.

"Convenient Location and Good Value Some Improvements Needed"
We picked Gardens because it's close by, and it's a good deal compared to others around. The layout of the place appealed to me. However, my loved one ended up with a smaller apartment than we expected, which was disappointing. I think they could make the activities better for everyone living there. They're doing everything they can to keep people safe from covid, but there aren't as many things happening as there used to be before the virus. My mom really loves the food they serve and enjoys her meals a lot. Overall, I think it's a place I would suggest to others who are looking for something similar.

"Comfortable, clean, convenient assisted living; care could be more attentive"
We picked Gardens at Ocotillo because it's newer and looks nice and clean, plus it's in a handy spot. The rooms are bigger than others we checked out. In assisted living, I thought they didn't get quite enough care here, but overall, I'd suggest it to others looking.

"Upscale Facility Likely Lacks Homey Feel for [Name Removed"
This upscale assisted living facility is conveniently located for family visits but only accepts private pay. It might not provide a homey feeling.

"Lovely Place But Too Pricey For My Insurance"
It's pretty, but way too pricey. My insurance barely covered anything.

"Ok for Independent Folks, Tough for High-Care Residents"
This spot is perfectly okay if you're still pretty self-reliant or only starting to need help with day-to-day things. Their activities are fun and the folks here are friendly. But if you need lots of medical help or advanced care, it doesn't quite match up. They're not the best at communicating or coordinating healthcare, and it's hard to leave if you need to without unexpected extra costs they don't discuss with your family first. It can lead to a bunch of stress and lots of back-and-forth emails with the bosses. Plus, the regular staff aren't always equipped to handle the daily issues of someone who requires more care and they can appear overwhelmed.

"Bright and Cheerful Assisted Living with Great Amenities"
We visited several communities and really liked this one. It's beautiful both inside and out. They have a swimming pool and a nice patio with tables, chairs, and umbrellas for shade. Inside, it's decorated nicely, very bright, and cheerful. The staff was friendly and very helpful during the tour.

"Lovely community with great meals, activities, and value for families"
We checked out this place for taking care of a family member. The people who guided us were nice, and the place was really pretty. We saw they had lots of good, healthy food. There were also activities that would've been good for our family member. We think other families would like this place too, because it's a good deal.

Loving Daughter
"The Gardens of Ocotillo: Unmet Expectations and Empty Promises"
My mom lived at The Gardens of Ocotillo for a year and a half. She was independent when she moved into the assisted living area and it was fine. But things fell apart when she had a stroke. This place didn't provide the support we needed, making an already hard time even harder. They asked us to buy a hospital bed and hire private caregivers. The staff at The Gardens grumbled about extra work, even when I was around. Staff turnover was high despite it being open only for two years. But oddly, the dining staff seemed better trained than the caregivers or directors. If all your parent needs is a nice place with laundry and meals provided, it's ok. But don't expect them to age comfortably here. If they have a serious health event, they'll soon be asked to leave. My family didn’t feel well-treated after my mom got sick. The only option for her to get better was to move out. The Gardens of Ocotillo acted like they cared, but two weeks after mom’s illness proved otherwise. Watch out for the fine print in the contract. They’ll find every possible way to provide less care or exaggerate their needs. They can even kick you out with a 2-week notice. It’s nearly impossible to find a new place that quickly. This might be why The Gardens costs less than other places. It’s a classic bait and switch. We eventually moved to a new place where my mom is doing well. The staff is knowledgeable and professional.

"Caring Community with Friendly Staff and Clean Environment"
This place was really good when my parents moved in. The people working there were nice and asked if we needed anything. The other people living there seem active and friendly. They don't like all the food, but they have activities and special shows sometimes. The place is clean, and I think it's good. They have staff who can help with medicine and other stuff.

"Poor Food Choices at Assisted Living Facility"
The building is neat and the workers are friendly, but the food is disappointing. The Dining Room doesn't offer a lot of choices in their menu. The Bistro food could be better and only offers limited choices, and you can only get it from Monday to Friday. It seems like they're not trying hard to boost their food choices. It seems like most of food is brought from outside and not made here.

This place is set up nicely, and the staff is good. They quickly answered my questions about the place. There's plenty for residents to do, which I liked. I think others would like it too.

Had a great meeting with their staff. She was honest about prices and understood my wife's memory care needs. The place looked excellent, but it's too expensive.

Mom was confused when we moved her in, but the staff was great at helping her settle in. The atmosphere here is fantastic - bright, cheerful, and nicely decorated. The residents look really happy - you don't see that often!

"Flexible and Collaborative Staff"
At Gardens at Ocotillo Senior Living, their assessments for intake were quite good. Specifically, in my mother's case, she was on the border between assisted living and memory care. Initially, we placed her in assisted living, but we quickly realized she needed memory care. The staff were adaptable and willing to collaborate with us, which I truly appreciated.

"Nice New Facility"
It's a brand-new place, really clean and looks nice. The staff is friendly, and the residents are pleasant. However, the food in the dining rooms is just okay—kind of like what you'd find in a school cafeteria. Overall, it's a bit disappointing because the place is great in other ways. Unfortunately, one staff member didn't properly attach my father's new catheter bag, so he ended up leaking urine all over the carpet.
