"Friendly Staff and Good Experience at The Forum Assisted Living"
Overall, my time at The Forum has been good. The staff are nice and helpful. I didn't rate the activities because my loved one hasn't joined any yet, and I'm not familiar with what they offer.

"Looks nice, but lacks social integration"
The staff did a great job selling the facility. We thought our loved one could join activities with the independent living people, but that’s not true. I wouldn't recommend this place for someone who wants to make friends and has a sharp mind. The independent living side looks beautiful, but the assisted living side isn’t very warm or welcoming. We chose it because we believed it would be a nice place, but our loved one hasn’t been able to join the independent living activities, and we’re not happy about that.

"Good for starting Assisted Living, lacks Memory Care."
I visited this place, and it was our second choice. It's a good place to start for Assisted Living and more affordable than others nearby. But they don't have a Memory Care unit, which we knew our loved one would need later. Also, there seemed to be some tension between our tour guide and the management.

"Happy Residents, Great Value, Minor Food Timing Issues"
Last weekend’s visit showed us that fun activities are back in full swing with lots to do. The meals taste great, but sometimes they’re a bit late, like the coffee. We think that’s just a short-term problem though. Our family members living there are really pleased with their rooms and we believe it’s a great deal for the price.

"Friendship and Beauty at the Forum"
I was lucky to live at the Forum for 3 years, and I came to love it. The people were the most important part to me. I made some really good friends and still keep in touch with some of them. I moved to be closer to my daughter. I had a lovely 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment, and the housekeeping staff was very efficient and friendly. I keep coming back to that word because it applies to everyone there. I enjoyed the entertainment, which was varied. The beautiful living room with the grand piano was the setting for some of these events. The way the Forum is set up makes it easy to form friendships since everything is in one building for retirement. I could go on and on because this was my HOME. The dining room and the staff are all part of this wonderful atmosphere. I can’t forget to mention the lakes. I have never seen anything like them. At Christmas, when the boats and homes are decorated, I guarantee you haven’t seen anything as lovely.

"Welcoming Environment with Spacious Rooms and No Odors"
The place looked nice and cozy, not cold and empty. Even the nursing area felt friendly. I felt at ease when I visited on [Date removed]. The rooms were big enough, not cramped like a tiny bedroom. Plus, there were no bad smells anywhere.

"Friendly Staff, But Need Better Planning and Support"
Everyone here is really nice, and the caregivers were helpful when I needed it. I can't say enough about how great they are and how happy they seem to be working here. I never heard anyone complain. They offer lots of activities like bingo, speakers, singers, Bible study, and mass. But I asked for a schedule, and no one seemed to have one. They only had a calendar in the entrance, so it was hard to plan my day. Also, the staff seemed short-handed. They didn't have enough time to help much and were rushing from room to room.

"Great community with fantastic food and fun activities!"
I visited this place while helping my friend find a home. This community is amazing, and the food is fantastic. Every month, all the residents and chefs meet to talk about the meals. They accept recipes and ideas for what to serve or change. My friend's room has a patio that looks over the canal. They even have a pool for swimming all year and great live entertainment. I would recommend this community to other families.

"Great place with nice staff and good food!"
The staff is really nice and helpful. They clean and do your laundry every week. You get a continental breakfast, and lunch and dinner are good with many options besides the daily meal. The grounds are pretty, near a lake, and have walking paths. I suggest taking a tour before deciding.

"My mom is so happy and thriving here!"
This place is amazing, and my mom loves living here. Before she moved in, she tried to live alone but felt isolated. She couldn’t go out much or do activities, so she didn’t have much social interaction. Now that she’s here, she is socializing a lot more, eating meals with others, and really getting to know everyone. The staff is fantastic. Whenever she has questions or needs help, there’s always someone available to talk to her. They bring her lunch and dinner, and the chef comes to chat with everyone during meals to get feedback on what they like and how the food tastes. They offer all kinds of activities like cards, movies, crafts, and they even take the residents out to shows. There’s also a breakfast meet-and-greet every Thursday for new residents, so everyone can meet each other. The building is conveniently located right across from two of her doctors and down the street from another one. She has even started giggling more because she’s so happy here. What we both love is that if her health declines, she can stay with her friends because they offer assisted living too. Everything is included in the cost except for her cell phone and internet. Every resident I’ve met here is extremely happy. I would absolutely recommend this place!

"Happy with Mom's New Place!"
My mom just moved into this place, and I'm happy. The people working here helped her settle in, and we're satisfied with how they're taking care of her. Mom likes the food, and she's having fun with some of the things they do here.

"Mom Thriving in Welcoming Community"
We checked out a few places nearby and this one stood out to us. Mom's happy here and enjoys the activities. They provide lots of things to do on-site, though she doesn't often go on trips outside. She hasn't said anything bad about the food, so we assume she likes it. The people who work here are friendly and helpful.

"We love our new home!"
My husband and I are doing well since moving here. The food is really good—like a gourmet restaurant! They serve fresh salads and yummy desserts. We haven't joined many activities yet, but we've heard great things about them. We have light housekeeping for our apartment, and they even wash and change our sheets and towels. I didn't realize how much that would help. Our experience has been very good, and we’re happy with our choice.

"My mom's excellent care"
I'm happy with this community's care for my mom. The staff are very nice and attentive. She likes the food here and says it's very good. They offer some activities, but not a lot. This place has a lot to offer for care. The layout is very nice. I feel good knowing my mom is in good care, and I recommend this place to other families.

"Not So Great at The Forum"
The Forum at Desert Harbor was really nice, but when we asked about the assisted living, it was disappointing. The assisted living was in a separate small building that didn't feel connected to the rest of the place. It looked like it was on lockdown, and I didn't even want to go in there.

"Assisted Living Center Falls Short on Promises"
They didn't tell us the truth about the kitchen. We were expecting fresh fruit and food, but it's not there. The cook needs to improve their skills. We don't talk about it much because it feels pointless, and others don't have any other choice. We chose this community because they offer transportation and lots of outings and singing, which we enjoy. They also said they were remodeling the laundry room, but that hasn't happened.

"In need of makeover and updates, but nice location."
I checked out The Forum yesterday and was bummed by the torn wallpaper and stinky smell in the hallways. They're supposed to redo the place, but Julie wasn't sure when that's gonna happen. They're only sprucing up the rooms when people move out, but the shared spaces look old. The place is huge so someone could end up having to walk a lot to get to the dining area and activity spots. On the bright side, it's right by a pretty lake.

"Some Concerns at First, but Improving Now"
This is a nice place, and they are taking pretty good care of my mom. She did fall during her first week there. They helped her quickly and told me right away, but I think they could have stopped it from happening. The place looks nice and clean. The dining room chairs have wheels, which I don't think is safe for the people living there. Overall, they are trying their best, and things are going pretty well now. I would recommend this place.

"My father adjusted very well to this community."
My father is starting to enjoy his time here. We are pleased with everything they’ve done for us. He is doing really well. This community is well maintained and very clean. The staff is nice and easy to work with. There are activities for him when he’s ready. He loves the meals and has even gained some weight. I know he’s getting great care. I would definitely recommend this community.

"Is Care Lacking for Assisted Living Residents?"
I spent more than 2 hours attempting to connect with a staff member to care for my relative in assisted living. Finally, I contacted security and it took them half an hour to act. Is there anyone actually looking after the residents? The monthly bill certainly suggests that care should be better.

"Mom is so happy here!"
Moving a 91-year-old woman from her home to assisted living isn’t easy. Thankfully, after we visited The Forum at Desert Harbor, she decided it was the right place for her. She loves living there and says she should have moved in ten years ago. She enjoys the friendly staff and, most importantly, the food! I give five stars to The Forum because I know my mom is happy and well cared for.

"Maintenance concerns spoil the experience at a "5-Star" retirement home"
My Mom had to wait quite awhile before they finally finished the improvements that were promised when she moved into the assisted living facilities. Our living room has spiders hanging from the ceiling and there are worms coming out of the floor in the bedroom. They say they're going to fix it this week, but the maintenance guy admitted that the same thing had already happened in the apartment next door. These guys are really dropping the ball and not addressing issues quickly enough. For a place that's supposed to be a top-tier retirement community, this just isn't right.

"Great food, diverse community, and smooth transition for mom!"
I'm so happy with my experience at The Forum at Desert Harbor. The marketing team was really responsive to my mom's needs, making the move easy. The whole staff has been super helpful during the transition. The food is great, and there are lots of activities. The residents come from all different ages and backgrounds, which makes the community really interesting. Special thanks to Debbie Miller, our senior adviser with A Place For Mom, for recommending this place.

"Total Letdown: Dad's Care Falls Short at Desert Harbor"
I was let down by the care my dad got at this place. He'd had a stroke about 4 years ago and was coming from a place that didn't have trained nurses. After looking at The Forum at Desert Harbor's place and reviews, I thought it would be great for what he needed. In the month, he was there, they gave my dad only pureed food because they said he couldn't handle solid foods (even though I asked them many times to help him get to that point). We even had to push for them to get him out of bed for meals and to make sure he drank enough water. I requested them to help him continuously with occupational and physical therapy but they kept saying they could "only do so much" and his condition got worse while he was there. Finally, my Mom noticed that he didn't seem to be doing well and said "Something's wrong." It took them another day to finally call 911 and have him taken to Boswell with a urinary infection, a fever, and a blood clot in his arm. We've since moved him to Plaza del Rio. In just one week there, he's sitting up by himself, talking, and can eat solid foods. HE'S SO MUCH BETTER OFF NOW.

"Warm and Welcoming New Home"
I wasn’t sure if this place was right for me after living in a private home. But the kind staff assured me it was a good choice. I was skeptical at first, but the atmosphere here is warm and inviting. I’ve told many friends how much I enjoy it and have made new friends quickly. Thank you for helping me make a tough decision.

"Alright Place But Expensive and Slow Maintenance"
The best part about this assisted living facility is how friendly everyone is. It's easy to make friends and I enjoy being here. They have a lot of activities that are really fun. The only downside is that it's pretty expensive, including for only one meal a day (which is just a simple breakfast). The location isn't too bad and they do provide transportation within a 10-mile area, if you schedule it 24 hours in advance. You can use this service to go to the grocery store, bank, or a few other places. However, if you need something fixed, they might not get to it right away. Despite that, I would really like this place if it wasn't so pricey.

"Smooth Start at the Assisted Living Facility"
Things are going well so far. On our first day, the food reminded me of cafeteria food, but my dad likes it, and that's what matters. The facility has pleasant outdoor areas for families and residents, and parking has never been an issue.

"Assisted living cost a bit much, but friendly staff and good food"
The place was kinda pricey for what it gives. The rooms they showed us were super tiny. But the people who work there were really nice and told us everything we needed to know. The food was awesome, and the server was really cool and paid attention to us. It wasn’t our top pick, but it’s definitely still on our list.

"Staff is Awesome but Short on Help"
The folks here were amazing! But, they needed more helpers. They really worked super hard, and they were so nice! They were really friendly to my family member, and they tried to make her laugh and lift her mood! They were really good, but just too busy. Sometimes, it took too long for them to come, and we had to do things ourselves. The cost was similar to others, though.
