"Spacious Units and Tasty Meals, Staffing Needs Work"

My folks picked the Forum after checking out a bunch of places for older people to live. Most spots had tiny homes, but at the Forum, they got a big two-bedroom place that’s almost 940 square feet. Having enough room was super important to them. I ate there when I was around, and the food was super good. You can get coconut shrimp and fancy steak every single day! They clean your place and do your laundry every week too. My parents aren’t totally happy yet since they miss their old, bigger home. They haven’t joined in on any group stuff like movie nights or workout classes so far. The nurses and helpers are really nice and always there when you need them. One thing that’s not so great is that it takes longer than we thought for someone to show up when you hit the help button. We were told it would be like five minutes, but it’s usually more like ten to twenty. Just like other places, they could use more people working there.

"Satisfied with Location and Price Despite COVID Lockdown"

I moved to The Forum at Tucson for its spot and cost. Usually, I'm happy to stay here. But now, it's odd because we're stuck inside due to lots of COVID around.

"Disappointing Experience at Tucson’s Memory Care Facility"

For nearly two years, we had a family member in the Memory Care unit at The Forum at Tucson. Our experience was full of ups and downs, with increasing stress as the disease took its toll. Eventually, the situation became so rough that nobody desired to visit anymore. Although there were aides who treated us kindly, others were disrespectful, unprofessional, and argumentative. They would often blame us for causing trouble and tell other healthcare workers to ignore our concerns. Strangely, this problematic behavior seemed to come from the very top, from the Memory Care Director all the way to Executive Director. We got the feeling they all had training in how to be manipulative. Whenever an issue arose, they would hastily contact us, expecting us to rush to The Forum and resolve it. They offered little assistance or direction when health or behavioral problems surfaced, leaving us to cope on our own. It seemed like their sole goal was to keep our family member alive and fed. When it came time to move our loved one out, we noticed many of their clothes were missing, replaced with items belonging to other residents. We ended up spending more money replacing clothing over their stay. Their method of assessing our family member’s care involved no actual interaction. The Director would stay at her desk, deciding care levels, which often meant higher costs. One thing that pushed us over the edge was their poor medication management, despite charging a monthly fee for it. Prescriptions were often ignored or discarded, and we were left unnotified. We'd only find out when the medication ran out and they'd call us to renew the prescription. This often involved a doctor's visit which was stressful for our family member and us. We found The Forum at Tucson a hard place to work with. In retrospect, we wish we had chosen a different place from the very beginning.

"Promising Tour Experience Hindered by Care Options Limitation"

The tour guide was really good. However, it wasn't a good match mainly because they didn't offer both American Sign Language (ASL) and Memory Care (MC). Also, Mom isn't quite at their Memory Care level yet.

"Larger assisted living facility didn't feel like home for us."

The place wasn't cozy, and it wasn't right for my family member. It was a big community.

"Varied Costs and Engaging Activities at Assisted Living Facility"

One thing that wasn't very clear is that rooms with different views and locations in the building have different costs. I wish they had mentioned that during their sales presentation. So, be sure to ask about the exact cost and how much it varies for different rooms in the facility, because there are slight differences. Overall, I've found the staff to generally pay good attention to residents. They also have plenty of activities available for the people who live there.

The team here is really great, and from what we’ve seen, we’d tell other families to consider The Forum at Tucson for sure.

"Unwanted Calls and Poor Treatment at Assisted Living Facility"

Absolutely avoid this place! My mom had a really bad experience here. The treatment she received was awful, if she even got treatment at all. One person from their advertising team, who I won't name, decided to call my mom out of the blue. They said to her, "Because you asked us, we're going to send you some information". She never asked for anything like that! They left a message for my elderly mom, telling her they were going to send her information about living in a home. They suggested that she or someone else was trying to put her in a home. That's totally not okay!

"Aesthetics Over Care: Unpleasant Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

I picked this spot for my dad's recovery after his stroke and hospital stay. I went for it only because it didn't have the typical nursing home vibe. Sadly, instead of helping my dad, they kept him heavily medicated to the point where he was unresponsive for a long time. The lady who met with us was unpleasant, and my dad, confused because he has Alzheimer's, accidentally knocked her glasses off. They told us he wasn't welcome back, not that I'd ever consider returning given what I now know. Don't be tricked by their looks. The quality of care was abysmal and the owner just shrugged off my concerns.

"Unsatisfactory staff and comfort levels in this rehabilitation center"

If you're seeking therapy for an elderly parent at a nursing rehabilitation center, I'd suggest you avoid this one especially if you need frequent visits from a nurse or physical therapist. There are some really kind and thoughtful nurses here, but not enough to balance out the shortage of staff. During weekends, they operate with minimal staff. In the patient's room, they offer only a bed or a wheelchair which aren't very comfy. So, you'll have to get used to either because no one really checks in between meals.

"Forum of Tucson Neglects Elderly; Money Over Patient Care"

Avoid taking your elderly family to The Forum of Tucson's Skilled Nursing. For five whole weeks, my 92-year-old dad was left sitting in wet diapers, even forced to sleep in his own clothes. His necessary wound care for his bed sores was neglected and the vital physical therapy he required after a fall and a hip fracture wasn't provided. All they seemed to care for was the money. Unbelievably, they charged him for a private room for around a month, while he was only in a semi-private one. The nurses were quick to blame his lack of improvement on his dietary choices, conveniently ignoring that they were the ones preparing his meals. Yet, miraculously, within two weeks of leaving that place, his wounds were completely healed and he was already moving around with the help of a walker.

"Shocking Experience of Poor Care at The Forum Rehab Center"

I spent 22 days at The Forum and it was horrible. I strongly discourage anyone from using their skilled nursing services. After having a knee replacement, a CNA mishandled me and caused pain on my already sore knee while changing my bed pan. I intend to report this rehab center for their troublesome practices. On top of that, I was left alone with a dirty bed pan for 20 minutes before anyone came to help me. One nurse even mixed up my medications, which could've led to a serious issue.
