"Helpful Staff with Some Room for Improvement"
The staff did a good job removing decorations so we could bring Mom's sewing machine. However, Mom had difficulty with the shower. We asked for help but didn't receive any. The hand-held shower was too far from the built-in bench for her to reach easily.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Improvement"
My family member lives at The Gardens of Sun City. Soon, we're moving them elsewhere. Here are some tips: First, make sure they're honest. It seems like they tell you what you want to hear, not the truth. Staffing is often a problem. They do their best, but some staff members are better than others. Also, they need more staff on the unit because there's not always enough. Additionally, the place has dirty windows, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, and some lights that don't work. I had to complain to get these fixed. Overall, I wouldn't suggest the Memory Care here to others.

"Mixed Experience: Good but Communication Lacking in Assisted Living"
They're okay. My family member likes it here. But there have been some problems with how they take care of people and with the nurses not talking enough.

"Mixed feelings about cleanliness and condition of assisted living facilities."
Our family visited in person. It was nice, but a bit rundown. Concerned about cleanliness.

"Communication Needs Improvement in Memory Care Facility"
My family member is in memory care. She gets great care. I want more details shared. Like doctor visits, staff worries, and more. It's hard to get answers. No one to ask. It feels confusing.

"Declining care, inadequate management, hopeful for improvement."
Title: A Not-So-Great Experience at the Assisted Living Facility My mom has been living at this place for four years. About six to nine months ago, the head nurse called me and said my mom needed extra help getting dressed in the mornings. They moved her to a higher tier level, which costs around $400 more. But here’s the thing: no one actually helps her get dressed. I’m the one who does her laundry and picks up after her once a week. It’s crazy how she manages to go through twelve days’ worth of clothing in just seven days. She even told me she doesn’t change her clothes throughout the day. Her room during the lockdown is a mess! The heating system was on full blast even though it was 100 degrees outside. And they don’t bother checking if her air conditioning is working properly. During this lockdown, they should encourage the residents to participate in the few activities they have. But my mom is stuck eating all her meals alone in her room. She complains that the food is cold and not as good as when she used to eat in the dining room. As a result, she’s lost weight. I brought her a case of water, but they didn’t even put it in her refrigerator. They just left it on the floor. I know they’re short-staffed, but couldn’t they spare a few extra minutes to help a 93-year-old? Once this lockdown is over, we’re definitely moving her out of here. Hopefully, she’ll live long enough for that. The first year was nice, but things have gone downhill. Some of the med techs and caretakers are great, especially one of the main nurses I really like. But the management staff? Not so much. They should be giving extra care and attention to families who can’t visit or hug their loved ones. For over two years, they’ve been understaffed, and that’s the excuse I always hear. I talk to my mom on the phone every day, and it just keeps getting worse. 😔

"Warning: Poor Care, Unfair Charges at Assisted Living Facility"
Head's up!! You shouldn't leave your family member at this place. My 86-year-old sister experienced severe pain, but we were informed that the Gardens doesn't believe in giving pain medication. They allowed her to lay in her own waste and didn't provide proper care unless insisted. We had to visit every day to ensure she was alright. She passed away just 9 days after we had paid the final monthly fee of more than $5700. But they wouldn't give back any prepaid amounts, claiming there were extra costs for not immediately removing her stuff, and so on.

"Assisted living staff helpful, but communication needs improvement"
The beginning of our experience was a bit rocky. The person who helps everyone move in wasn’t very useful. She promised things she shouldn’t have, but the place is sticking to her promises. When it was time for my dad to move, it didn’t go smoothly. She was supposed to handle everything, but on moving day, he didn’t go anywhere. The biggest problem was the lack of communication throughout this whole process. We don’t do this often at all. The place should be more clear about what’s included in the cost of his care. The person who helps people move in can make or break the place. Since the incident with my dad not moving when he was supposed to, things have been going pretty well. Unfortunately, there’s a learning curve. We didn’t know the place charges a lot if they have to give him diapers, bed pads, and gloves. So it was hard to figure out how much to get so we wouldn’t be charged a lot. This is all new to us and it was all thrown at us at once. But the staff is really nice and helpful. They’re always easy to find. My dad says the food here is better than other places he’s been. The chef takes his job seriously and always listens to the residents’ suggestions. The grounds are nice and well taken care of. You can tell they’re always being looked after. Whenever I visit my dad, there’s never anything dirty lying around. The room he’s in is a good size—it’s like a studio apartment. I would suggest this place to others.

"Friendly and Clean Community"
We toured The Gardens of Sun City. The staff was friendly and gave a good presentation of their community. They also gave us lunch during our visit. The place was clean and well-kept. This community was our second choice because we picked another one that was closer to our family members.

"Dad's Stay Was Okay, but Meals Need Work"
We tried this place for a short stay. Dad wasn't thrilled with the food they served. The staff took care of him okay, but they didn't watch him closely enough. If we stayed longer, he probably would've gotten used to the staff.

"Limited resident interaction; environment felt depressing."
We visited this place, it was nice, staff was friendly. But we didn’t pick it because many residents were in wheelchairs and not talking much. It seemed sad, and we felt like the care wasn’t as advanced as other places.

"Great care in a cozy setting with helpful staff!"
We went to check out this place. It's smaller, which we liked. It's super clean and tidy. The people who work there were really nice and helped us find what we needed. They've got stuff to do too, which is cool. We think it's a good choice for anyone who wants good care and value.

"Warm Community, Friendly Staff"
That place was pretty good for such a small room. I liked the man who works there; he was really kind. I can't remember his name, but he was really nice. It's not a big facility, but at least there are other residents to spend time with. I found that really impressive.
