"Poor Housekeeping and Negligent Staff at Assisted Living Facility"
The cleaning services here are just awful. They misplaced all of my mom's nice sheets and now she's left with stuff that looks like it was bought from a thrift store. Her outfits disappear frequently as well. The staff in the memory unit act irritated whenever the residents require a bit more help and care. I'm seriously looking forward to getting her out of here!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This was a good experience for our family and our loved one. Some of the staff were really nice and remembered our names and who lived there. However, other staff members weren't as focused on helping customers. The care they gave was very good. They communicated well with our family too. The residents got three meals every day, and they could choose what they wanted to eat. I think they could improve the transportation. They only drive residents on certain days. If they didn't have a driver, they couldn't take anyone anywhere.

"Warm welcome and excellent care at The Oaks."
From the moment we arrived at The Oaks, we knew it was the right place for our loved one. They welcomed us with a huge sign and half of the staff team greeted us. We absolutely love the staff—they treat all the residents with dignity and respect. They never talk down to them, and if someone needs redirection, they handle it appropriately. We visit on Fridays and Saturdays, and the activities coordinator is fantastic. She’s amazing and engages in full conversations with the residents, never treating them like babies. The staff is always communicative, both when we visit and when we’re away. We know our loved one is in great hands, and we’re very happy with the experience. We’d recommend The Oaks to anyone in a heartbeat.

"Great place overall, could improve assessment process."
The person who evaluated residents didn't seem to hear me well. It felt a bit disrespectful and made us uneasy. I wish she had been friendlier during the assessment. But besides that, everything else is really good. The facility is outstanding, the food is fantastic, and the staff has been wonderful. It's very attractive and clean, and the cost was quite fair, especially considering what you receive.

"Facility Falls Short in Food and Activities; Not Recommendable"
The food is really bad. It's not good quality, too salty, and they never repeat dishes. You order something and can't get it again. There aren't many activities for residents. Based on our experience, we wouldn't recommend this place.

"Poorly Run The Oaks Lacks Care and Activities"
I'm so relieved my family took my grandma out of The Oaks. Their assisted living and memory care are really badly run. I get that it's a business and needs to make money to run, but a massive thumbs down to The Oaks. They don't seem to care, and there are no activities for those in memory care. It seems like the warm and friendly staff are all gone now.

"Assisted Living Facility Denies Resident Rights, Neglects Responsibilities"
Help from the administrators is absent at this assisted living facility, and my mom's resident rights have been violated a few times. Despite requesting written access to her charts as stated in their guidebook, they are unwilling to give them to me. Even though I've explained that I'm her legal guardian, and included everyone from local staff to head office, they didn't respond. This is because they said the Director was unwell. I even employed a nurse consultant and gave written permission for her medical files to be released. But the General Manager still refused to give up my mom's records. They've also gone ahead and altered her medication without permission and made it difficult to get them changed back as prescribed by her doctor. Despite several requests, it took nearly a month to get her care plan, even though this is supposed to be reviewed and agreed upon within 14 days of change.

"Dual-Aged: "Nice but Old Looking and Lacking Facilities""
I visited The Oaks when I was searching for a new home for my loved one and me. The place was nice, but it looked pretty used considering it was only two years old. I also felt that they didn't have as many facilities like some other homes we saw.

"No Time Limit on When You Can Eat"
I visited this place. It seemed nice—it's a two-story facility. One of their main selling points is that you can eat anytime you want. However, it didn't feel great because most people prefer a more structured schedule. The facility itself was pleasant, offering many amenities. They have a gym, although I doubt my mom would use it. Aside from that, they offer similar activities to other places, like crafts, movie nights, and occasional live music. Ultimately, we chose a different community based on price and the waiting list.

"Mixed Experience at The Oaks Assisted Living"
The Oaks was good, residents were happy with activities. Some played cards, others colored. The assisted living area smelled clean, but the memory care unit smelled like pee, which wasn't nice. He was professional and did a good job. I liked the idea of keeping my mom's current caregiver. I'll tell my brother about it.

"Clean and friendly, but waitlist deterred my choice of residence."
I visited this place for a tour, and I liked it because it was neat and tidy. The people who work there were kind and they answered all the questions I had. However, they told me there were no openings right away, and I didn't want to wait, so I ended up picking a different place to live.

"Amazing care and friendly atmosphere!"
I was searching for a place for my dad, and when I toured the Oaks, I thought, “Wow, this is going to be hard to beat.” I was right. This place is amazing! They are super responsive to emails, phone calls, and visits. If I need to change something, they work with me. They pay attention to my concerns and handle them well. The leadership is easy to find and very available. They run a great facility, and the staff is top-notch. They provide transportation for appointments, and we are encouraged to schedule them on Tuesdays or Thursdays to keep everything organized. As far as I know, there’s no extra charge for transportation, just for an escort if your loved one needs help. I haven’t tried the food yet, but it always smells incredible when I'm there. My family members have eaten with my dad and say the food is delicious and looks great. The whole place is spotless! I don’t know how often housekeeping comes in, but every time I visit—whether it's early in the morning, late at night, or during the day—it’s clean. From his room to the hallways and the main area, everything is tidy. They have a daily activity calendar, so there’s always something happening. The other residents are friendly with my dad, and he’s made friends easily. Considering the care my dad needs, the price is very reasonable, and I’m really happy. I would definitely recommend bringing your loved one here!

"Improvements Needed in Weekend Staffing and Medical Follow-up"
My dad's doing okay here. Everyone's nice and friendly. He's making friends and likes the food. There's no fixed meal schedule, and they have a good menu. There's a piano Dad enjoys, and there's always music. But, on weekends, there's no manager, and the staff isn't consistent. Dad often has to remind them of his care needs. The doctor program hasn't been helpful; we didn't even get his x-ray results.

"Great improvements made, overall happy with the facility!"
At first, the move was tough because the care wasn’t great. I told the director about these problems, and they quickly took action to fix them. Since then, things have really improved, and now everyone is doing their job as expected. My mother also thought there were people coming into her room, which was concerning, but it turned out to be just people walking around. Those issues have been sorted out. Overall, we’re quite happy with the place. It’s well-kept, clean, and doesn’t smell.

"Dad's Care Was Poorly Managed at the Assisted Living Facility"
We were not pleased with the service at this center. After moving in and signing contracts, we were charged higher than before without clear explanations. They didn't provide the right medication, which leads to it being missed many times. In all, the medication handling was really bad. They weren't meeting his personal needs as supposed to be provided. The caregivers there didn't pay enough attention to their tasks. The folks running the place didn't do a good job either.

"Let Down by The Oaks' Memory Care Unit"
We're really bummed about the quality of care in The Oaks' memory care unit. Sure, some of the aides are nice, but most aren't. They don't really spend time connecting with the residents. The food isn't even as tasty as what's on the assisted living side. Plus, personal stuff keeps getting misplaced. It's nowhere near the cozy, friendly place we wanted it to be.

The Oaks is a clean and nice new place. The staff is really friendly, and my mom likes the food, with many options available from 7 AM to 7 PM. "A Wonderful New Chapter"
My father-in-law is moving into The Oaks tomorrow, and I wanted to share how happy we've been with the staff during our search. I looked at many places for him and chose The Oaks because (1) it's really nice, and (2) the staff is great. I want him to have a nice apartment, but more importantly, I want to know he’s surrounded by good people. At The Oaks, everyone is really nice, and I know I can go to them with any concerns, and they'll take care of them quickly. If you tour The Oaks, I highly recommend you meet Lance. He took his time with us and patiently answered our many questions. He really understands how important that is in this situation, unlike other places we visited. I told Lance he was a big reason we chose The Oaks. We will have other people helping my father-in-law after he moves in, but I know I can call Lance if I need anything, which really comforts me during this transition. Thank you, Lance, and The Oaks, for being the right place for my father-in-law!

"Extremely pleased with The Oaks!"
We've been extremely pleased with The Oaks. Things are going great with my mother-in-law there. The staff work with you to find solutions if there are problems. I have been pleasantly surprised. They do a lot of activities, and we asked them to get her involved, which they do. We had to increase services, and they bent over backwards to accommodate. The food overall is good, but service is a bit slow. They need to improve kitchen efficiency.

"Great place with a few minor issues"
The Oaks is a really great place with friendly people. The facility is very nice. My mom had a few complaints. She thought the food was good at first, but sometimes it’s hard to chew. I wonder if her mood is affected by the people she’s around. She also didn’t like the noisy heating and cooling system in her room because she’s used to central air. She mentioned that the laundry room doors are very heavy and she worries about getting stuck inside. Overall, the people here are awesome. I ate there a few times and thought the food was good. It is pricey, but you get a lot for the cost.

"Care and Activities Make It Worth Every Penny"
The Oaks, A Merrill Gardens Community, is great value, even compared to other places. The care she gets is fantastic. The activities are awesome. Mom is so busy she's never in her room. She has memory loss, so she doesn't remember much, but she loves the activities in the moment. When Mom ran out of medicine, the staff refilled it for me. That was super convenient. Mom needs a lot of care, so the cost is worth it for me. Maybe not for someone who needs less care, but I love Mom being here.
