A Place Called Home Residential Care

"Poor Service and Unhealthy Food at Assisted Living Facility"
The staff at this assisted living facility leave much to be desired. I would strongly advise against recommending this place to anyone. It may seem pleasant at first, but I assure you it's not the ideal environment for your dear ones. The caregivers lack culinary skills to the extreme! When the owners are not present, they revert to speaking in languages other than English. They are also found glued to their mobile phones too often, which is highly inappropriate. There is a glaring excess of sandwiches and deep-fried foods being served to the residents. A superior alternative would be fresh fruits, natural foods, and oven-baked fish or meat. It seems the staff's only concern is fulfilling the rapid feeding resident cycle...then promptly sending them off to their rooms. This is particularly notable after dinner time. So, reconsider before entrusting the care of your family member to this facility.

"Perfect Place for Loving and Excellent Care"
My husband lives at A Place Called Home. Deciding to move him from our house was the hardest choice I’ve ever made. It took me months, despite his children urging me, to accept that I could no longer care for him. Once the decision was made, my sister and I visited every possible place we could find. My sister and brother-in-law had experience running a Board and Care for our mother when she was unable to care for herself. That experience was very helpful in finding the right place for my husband. We visited many places, from big facilities to small houses. Most were just okay or not great. Then we found [Removed] and A Place Called Home. We knew it was the perfect place. [Removed]'s background as an ICU and Hospice RN made our decision easier. His dedication to the residents and hands-on approach is impressive. This dedication is shared by all the caregivers, who are compassionate, patient, and loving. All five houses of A Place Called Home are spotless. The food is fresh, and the homes are beautifully decorated. It feels like a real home, not an institution, and it’s both comfortable and upscale. [Removed] and his brother Colin make you feel like your loved one is the most important person they care for. That’s because every resident is truly important to them. I can’t recommend this place enough. There’s no better place where your loved one could receive such excellent care. It’s an exceptional place with exceptional people.

"Good initial impression, but not the right fit for us"
When I visited this home, everything seemed fine. A Place For Mom quickly gave us referrals, which was great. However, we felt this place wasn’t the right fit for our loved one. We needed a place with more hands-on care.

"The Absolute Best in Care for Mom"
My mom has never gotten better care than at APCH. The place is super clean and feels just like home. My mom has mild diabetes and always had trouble with her blood sugar levels, but not here. The meals are made with love, have lots of variety for picky eaters, and are healthy. Mom's blood sugar hasn't been this good in years. The best part of APCH is the caregivers. They handle residents with dementia with respect and dignity. I've never seen them raise their voice or get impatient. They treat the residents like their own parents. Each house is like a small community, so everyone gets the care they need. Finding APCH for Mom has been a blessing.

"A wonderful place with great care and activities."
They keep everything really clean and are super friendly. It's great having one-on-one care. They play bingo and take her to sit by the lake. Every time I visit, they're cooking something that smells amazing. We liked that the other residents are very functional.

"Caring staff and home-like atmosphere"
I needed a place for my dad quickly because my mom was in the hospital. They were so accommodating! The place is really clean and feels like home for my dad. He adjusted well thanks to the great care he’s receiving. It can be a tough decision, but everyone here is so friendly and caring.

"Top-notch care and cleanliness at A Place Called Home"
A Place Called Home gave great care to my mother. The staff always showed love and concern for the residents. The facility was always spotless. Meals were made fresh three times a day, with fresh fruit always available. I highly recommend this place for anyone needing residential care. Medical needs were carefully watched. My family member was always clean and well-dressed, with clean bedding too. They were always ready when needed. I am very pleased with all the services.

"Outstanding care and environment—highly recommended!"
A Place Called Home" is fantastic. The staff are kind and attentive, giving personalized care to each resident. They are friendly and always ready to help. The facility is spotless, the food is great, and there’s plenty of entertainment for everyone. The owner is a Registered Nurse who is always available and works with a skilled doctor to ensure residents get prompt and regular care. Thanks to their dedicated team, we saw significant improvements in my grandmother almost right away. This place is amazing!

"Comfortable and Friendly Assisted Living Facility"
This place has been really good for my loved one. It would be nice if they had a few more activities she likes. When the weather is nice, they take walks outside, which she enjoys. She hasn't complained about the food; some dishes she's not crazy about, but there are things she likes. The person in charge was very friendly and willing to help us. Overall, we think this is a good place for her. It's clean and the staff are really friendly.

Overall, we felt it was a good place for her—clean and with a friendly staff.

"David's Caring Home: Clean, Friendly, and Delicious Smells"
I spoke with David, an RN with experience in St. Agnes ER, oncology, and hospice. This place might be a great fit for my mom. The home is beautiful and very clean. David's wife was cooking, and the house smelled amazing! David and his wife work together with another assistant, though I didn't meet them. I didn't see the backyard. David has five children and seems like a very caring and soft-spoken person. He works with a doctor who visits the home, so residents can switch to him if they prefer. This place could be perfect for my mom, if not now, then in the future, especially for more active seniors.
