"From Homey Assisted Living to Disheartening Neglect and Back Again"
Initially, this assisted living facility seemed exceptional–welcoming and attentive to its residents. However, as time passed, the care for my mother diminished significantly. Staff members often silenced her, doing little more than wheeling her around. They stopped dressing her, instead leaving her in her pajamas throughout the day. In terms of entertainment, she was parked in front of the TV sans remote. They wheeled her to the table for meals, then back to the TV, and finally to bed after dinner. There was one staff member, who was continually voicing complaints. The facility did not provide any activities, and they pushed for Hospice simply because my mother needed assistance in using the restroom and required a catheter, or when she needed help bathing. It was as if they were averse to transporting her to the ER even if she suffered a fall. Interestingly, after my mother was placed on Hospice, her monthly rent experienced a surge, despite the noticeable decrease in care. Moreover, she was not receiving adequate nourishment. Thankfully, she now resides in a caring home that provides her with proper nutrition, without the use of a catheter or need for Hospice. The facility features a communal living room with an English-language TV. The staff transport her to all her appointments and she enjoys the privacy of her own room and personal TV. Today, she has a renewed zest for life. The staff members constantly show her love and affection, in the form of hugs, kisses, and words of love. They even accompany her to church.

"Promising Start Followed by Deep Disappointment"
This assisted living facility initially appeared excellent when I moved my mom in. The staff was friendly and showed great compassion. However, over time, things took a turn for the worse. They would shush my mom, only bothered to sit her in her wheelchair, and let her stay in her pajamas all day. They put her in front of a TV without a remote, wheeled her to the table for meals, and then back to the TV. Post dinner, they would send her to bed. In addition to this, always had an issue to complain about. No activities were available for the seniors. The staff even forced my mother on to Hospice care due to her inability to use the bathroom without assistance, which required a catheter, and take a bath by herself. They seemed reluctant to take her to the ER if she experienced a fall. Despite doing less because of her being in Hospice, they increased her monthly rent. Furthermore, my mother was malnourished in their care. Thankfully, I shifted her to another facility which is much more caring. They took her off Hospice, have been feeding her properly, and she no longer needs a catheter. The new place has a shared living room with an English TV. The caregivers here take her to all her appointments, and she now lives in a personal room equipped with her own TV. She is now showered with love, giving her a newfound will to live. They are constantly hugging and kissing her, telling her they love her. In addition, they accompany her to church.

"Mixed Feelings about Mom's Assisted Living"
My mom's been here for a year. Overall, I like it. In the beginning, her helpers were nice, but lately, some aren't as friendly. There aren't any fun things to do. It costs less than other places I checked and feels comfy.

"Great Care for Difficult Dad"
We needed a place that could handle our difficult dad. Amalia's has been great at managing him and meeting his needs. It's still early, but things are looking good.
