Astoria at Oakdale

"Excellent Value and Friendly Staff in Spacious Assisted Living Community"
We chose this place because it's affordable, the rooms are big, there are only 23 rooms, and the staff is really nice. The whole facility is just one floor. I think other people should consider it too.

"Friendly Staff, Concerns for Wheelchair Access"
We visited Astoria at Oakdale while looking for a place for our family member to live with help. The people there were super nice. The place felt cozy and small, like a home. But, the rocky path to the backyard made us worry about how our family member would get there in his wheelchair.

"Astoria: My New Home"
I never thought I’d want to be in an assisted living facility, but Astoria changed my mind. The staff is super caring and always has time to chat or give a hug. The food is great, and the outings are always fun. Today, we went to Chicken Ranch in Jamestown for a nice ride and lunch. There’s always something happening at Astoria—Bingo, Happy Hour, musical entertainment, and more. It’s a nice place to be—safe, comfortable, and run by the nicest people. I’m really glad I’m here.

"Assisted Living Community Shines Clean, Friendly, and Supportive Environment"
My daughter-in-law visited this community and loved what she saw. We're glad she did. It's a great place for my husband. They're helping him show his true self, and everyone loves him for it. The staff is very nice and supportive. When my husband first arrived, he wasn't eating, just drinking Ensure drinks. But now they've got him eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The staff and administrators are very easy to talk to. You can go to them anytime with worries or issues, and they fix things right away. The community is always clean and spotless, which I really appreciate.

"Great Place for Loved Ones: Friendly, Clean, Encouraging Staff"
My daughter-in-law checked out this place and liked it a lot, and we're glad she did. It's just right for my husband. He's becoming more himself there, and everyone loves him. The people who work there are so nice and helpful. When my husband first got there, he only drank Ensure, but now he's eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You can talk to the staff and bosses whenever you need to, and they fix any problems right away. The place is always super clean.

"Warm, inviting environment with excellent care and festive spirit."
After reading some reviews, I decided to write about my experience touring this community on 12/17/2016. I was pleasantly surprised. The building is lovely, located in a neighborhood setting, and makes residents feel at home rather than in an institution. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with serene sitting areas, big trees, and a huge backyard with pathways and a gated area for memory care residents. Inside, it felt warm and inviting, with Christmas decorations, staff interacting with residents, and Christmas music playing. The community manager greeted me on a Saturday and explained that she was there to engage with the residents during their party. The environment was very clean, recently remodeled to feel home-like, warm, and inviting. I was impressed by how my unannounced visit didn’t affect the quality of services. My husband was so impressed he asked, 'How old must you be to live here!' The residents were smiling, and the staff were very engaged in the Christmas spirit. After researching online and asking questions during the tour, I’m very impressed with their care philosophy and high standards. They focus on individual needs and support families coping with memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. The care, compassion, activities, family-style living, and festive celebrations all made me feel trust and gratitude toward this community. I highly recommend touring this community if you are looking for a place for yourself or a loved one.

I visited this community after reading some reviews. It was a pleasant surprise! The building sits in a friendly neighborhood, and they aim to make residents feel at home. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with cozy sitting areas and a spacious backyard for memory care residents. Inside, it feels inviting, especially during Christmas. The staff were friendly, even when I dropped by unannounced. My husband was impressed too! They focus on individual needs and provide compassionate care. If you're looking for a place for yourself or a loved one, definitely check out this community!

"Unlocked, Unsafe For Memory-Impaired Residents"
This place isn't secure or locked up. Worried my mom might stray off and get lost one day. Not a good choice for folks with memory issues.

"Caring Home in a Peaceful Setting"
This place isn’t fancy, but the staff is amazing. They make sure my mom’s needs are met, whether it’s helping her use the restroom at night, making sure she wears clean clothes, bathing her, involving her in activities, or just keeping her happy. I wanted my mom to stay in one place, so the hospice wing was a big comfort. The building is old and a bit worn, but it’s very clean and being updated. The park-like setting is very peaceful.

"Friendly Staff, Activities, but Cleanliness Needs Improvement"
They need to clean more, especially common areas like hallways, grounds, and patio. The place is old, some rooms need redoing. The people are super friendly and helpful! They have fun stuff to do like crafts, BINGO, and even Elvis impersonators. The price is alright. They're accommodating and nice!

"Needs Better Cleanliness, But Friendly and Fun"
They need to work on cleanliness. The individual apartments are clean, and housekeeping comes regularly, but the common areas like hallways, the grounds, and patio furniture need more cleaning. The facility is really old, and some of the rooms need to be updated. Everyone here is super friendly and accommodating! They offer activities for the residents like crafts, BINGO, and they even had an Elvis impersonator recently. The value is okay. They've been very accommodating and are really nice!

"Fantastic upgrade with caring staff and fun activities!"
Mom loves living at TLC. The staff is amazing and caring. They just remodeled, and now the rooms look like boutique hotel rooms. When you walk in, it always smells fresh and clean. The food is fantastic with the new Executive Chef who makes meals just how each resident likes. The new Activity Director has brought lots of fun activities, like live music, field trips, and ice cream socials. What a difference!
