"Pricey Lesson from Assisted Living Nightmare – Avoid Atria"

[name] put down a substantial deposit and signed a contract with Atria. However, she decided not to move in two weeks post her planned move in date. Atria used this date as the start of their 30-day notice requirement and kept the deposit. They also charged extra. Despite not staying, eating, or attending any events at the facility, received no partial refund after asking multiple times. She even continued to receive late payment notices and ended up paying the extra charge. Honestly, it was a disastrous and unfeeling experience, quite costly too. In my view, it's a place you should avoid!

"Great ambiance, variety, rooms, and exercise—Atria is wonderful!"

I checked out a lot of places before picking Atria. I picked Atria because it had the nicest atmosphere, lots of different activities to do together, the best rooms, and really fun exercise classes. Overall, it was a fantastic choice.

"Hidden fees, deceptive practices at Atria Foster Square"

Cautious warning - don't trust Atria Foster Square! This place appears as a full-service haven for elderly people like my 97-year-old mom. During our delightful introduction tour, they were pushy about reserving one of the popular rooms immediately with a refundable deposit for the first month. Trusting their word, we did. My mom started having second thoughts about leaving her house in San Mateo where she's lived for 70 years. However, the staff at Atria told us the move-in date was adjustable and that she could take her time deciding. However, a few weeks later, she chose to stay. I contacted Atria right away to inform them and get our deposit back. Much to our surprise, instead of a refund, they billed us for another month of rent. When the boss finally called us back, we were told the rental agreement had a small print about needing to give 30 days' notice.

"Facility Lacks Adequate Care; Not Recommended for Memory Patients"

When we first checked out this place, it seemed great even the staff we talked with, whose mother had dementia, recommended it. Things started off well. However, when my loved one caught Covid from the facility, they practically pushed her out. They forced us to take her home because they weren't able to look after her. Plus, they didn’t even bother to return our calls when we tried to work out a plan for her return. This place's care services for those with memory problems were entirely inadequate. It might be decent for assisted living, but for memory care, I would absolutely not recommend it.

"Good but Room for Improvement at Atria at Foster Square"

Our time at Atria at Foster Square has been okay, but it needs to improve. The quality of care could be better, as I’m not sure what they are providing. The regular staff are great, but the executive staff need to step up. The value for the cost is still unclear, so I’m giving it a 4-star rating for now. I hope this place gets better.

"Clean, Friendly Assisted Living Near Park and Water"

This place is fancy and clean, near a park and water. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'd tell my family and friends about it.
