"Location and Care are Great"
The assisted living community is in a really handy place for outings with residents. The studios are pretty small, but the care has been really good. Everyone is nice and friendly. Overall, it's been a positive experience. If you're considering it for your loved one, come visit and see if it suits them. However, there were concerns about resident safety during showers.

"Not Recommended for Loved Ones"
I visited this place, and honestly, I wasn't impressed. The building looked old and worn out, and the room had water stains on the ceiling. The dining staff didn't seem professional at all. During the tour, I noticed that none of the staff interacted with each other or the residents. Definitely not a good choice for my loved one.

"Assisted Living Facility Disappoints with Small Rooms and Limited Parking"
Atria Collwood has really small rooms and sits on a super busy corner with hardly any parking. The outside areas were alright, but the place feels too big for such a cramped spot.

"Caring Staff and Clear Costs Make This Community Stand Out"
Make sure you know exactly how much everything costs here and get it in writing once it's finalized. Overall, this place is nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The nurse is really good and they always made sure they were there for my loved one's needs. The staff also knew all the residents by name, which I really liked.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Community for Independent Living Residents"
We didn't like this place much. They advertised it oddly. It's not great for folks who need a lot of help; it's more for those who can manage on their own. The tour wasn't great either; it just felt off.

"Friendly and Active Assisted Living Facility"
My family member had a short but nice time here. I liked where it's located. The place seemed pleasant. There were always residents outside chatting, and the staff was always moving around. They paid a lot of attention to the residents. I saw bingo and other activities happening almost every day when I visited, and a lot of people participated. It was always simple to visit. Sometimes the parking lot was full, but there was plenty of parking nearby. Compared to other places I checked out, it was a good deal and very competitive.

"Decent Facility with Responsive Staff"
My loved one's stay at this facility seems decent so far. This new way of life is still something she's getting used to. When I first toured the facility, I thought it was alright, though I've seen better at different places. But considering the cost and care needed, this place is a fitting choice. The staff communicates well, keeping me informed, and they seem skilled. They're quick to respond to any questions I have. The layout of the place is quite simple and navigation is easy. Plus, there are plenty of activities offered for residents. On the whole, it's in a good area, it's tidy, and the people seemed friendly.

"Examine Carefully: This Place Misleads and Neglects Needs"
My dad recently moved out from this assisted living facility. It’s obvious to tell that it’s not well maintained. It's dirty and could use some fresh paint. I mean, just look at the dirty carpet on the stairs and the filthy handrails. The facility reminds me of a 2-star hotel – it’s old, shabby and not clean. Every time we made a request for any maintenance work, we got a smile but no action. Literally, even after writing down our complaints multiple times, we waited for weeks without any changes. The layout of the compound is just confusing. It's spread across several buildings without any color-coding for directions. The room numbers are even not in order which had visitors always at a loss for where to find their loved ones. Even worse, dementia patients wander around not knowing where they're supposed to go. The food quality is a big disappointment. A year ago when my dad moved in, the food was good. But recently, meals are mostly only carbohydrates. Last month, I had dinner there, and the sausage with rice I got was just terrible. The facility had no restrictions on my dad's alcohol intake, even at breakfast. One day he ordered spaghetti for all three meals. Despite us asking repeatedly to monitor his diet, we were told they didn’t offer such services. Eventually, my dad gained over 50 pounds and he's barely able to walk now. He is having difficulty wearing his socks and is a constant risk for falling. Even with our numerous requests, the facility hasn’t provided the additional care my dad needs. The management is changing with the director leaving for some unknown reason. The staff members are friendly but seem overloaded with work. The activities offered are diverse, but more enjoyable for those who are completely functional and not for people with dementia. At present, we've moved my dad to a different facility where he gets proper care. However, moving him has been difficult especially because of his condition with dementia. We were informed by this facility that they had many residents with dementia and could take care of my dad till his last days. But we’ve found that it wasn't true- dad could wander outside at night and not be able to come back. The neighborhood is unsafe and this concerned us a lot. My dad even confessed that one night he found himself outside and didn’t exactly remember how he got back. We feel we were misled and deeply regret our decision. Ask for [removed] if you decide to visit anyway. As sweetly named "Nurse Ratched" by the residents, she prefers making money over the care of residents. Evidently, this place is more concerned about profits than the welfare of its residents.

"My pal was content in this cozy, yet constrained facility"
I went to check out this place with my buddy who ended up living here. I noticed everyone had to eat the same thing from the menu, which I didn't really like. There isn't much variety in the food. The living spaces are nice and there's a pretty good garden. My friend liked it here. They've got a big front desk but the people there and the ones who clean up your spot aren't all too friendly. The place overall has a welcoming feel and looks cheerful. But, you can still tell it's a place for older people.

We toured Atria Collwood, and it was a nice community. The staff was friendly and knew a lot. The place was well-kept and clean. We were looking for a place that had more activities for the residents. They had rooms in the basement, and the layout might be confusing for our loved one to get around.

"Satisfying Visit, Wrong Location!"
Recently, I visited this assisted living place for my mom and everything went pretty smoothly. The staff were punctual for our scheduled meeting and took the time to thoroughly answer any questions I had. I was impressed by how neat and tidy everything was and the building's layout. The cost seemed fair and they offered different plans to suit personal needs. But in the end, the location simply didn't work for us.

"Nice place with good amenities, but feels like a nursing home."
The lady who showed my dad and me around was awesome. She was really nice and told us a bunch of cool stuff. They had lots of great stuff for everyone who lives there, and they even gave us a yummy meal to taste. But it kinda felt more like a nursing home than an assisted living place to me. And I didn't like how they charged for every little thing.

"Attentive Staff, Bathroom Space Issues: Praise and Suggestions"
My experience with Collwood staff has been great. From the techs to the nurses, they show understanding to families and residents, and they're good at guessing what residents need. The only problem is that my loved one doesn't have enough space in the bathroom for all her things, and her closet bar is too high. She only gets to shower twice a week, but she's used to bathing every day. Back in her day, people took pride in how they looked. Even if they didn't have a job, men would wear suits and hats. When I worked as a mental health tech, we noticed that when residents bathed daily, there were fewer disruptions, and people seemed happier. This led to a big drop in the use of psychotropic medications.

"Happy Here, But Wishing For More Nursing Staff"
I'm currently residing in this community and so far, I'm doing well and feeling great. The staff takes good care of me and provides good food, which is much better than my previous place. My room is consistently clean and the entire facility is kept pretty well. I even participated in a scrabble game, where I won third place, and there are plenty more activities to keep me occupied. However, I wish there were more nurses to assist me. As it stands, I'm fairly certain I'll be staying here for the foreseeable future.

"Undisclosed Nightly Check-ins Scare Mom at Atria Collwood"
We brought my mom to Atria Collwood for a one-month short-term stay. The workers were nice and flexible. However, we were not informed about their safety procedures, which mainly happened because we checked in on a Friday. They do regular night check-ins in the residents' rooms which we were not told about. Sadly, this led to a terrifying experience for my mom, when she found a male staff member in her room after her bathroom use. This incident was too much for her so she decided to leave after only staying two days. This misunderstanding left us disappointed. I suggest checking in when all the key staff members are present, and be sure to ask a lot of questions. The food was mediocre, usually needed warming up. Plus, we noticed some ants in her bathroom.

"Perfect Place for Mom's Respite Stay"
As my mom's caretaker, I searched hard for the best place for her first time in a facility. We needed a respite/trial stay. Meg (the director), Kathy (in finance), and the whole team were better than other places I visited. The size of the facility and the varied menu with the option to eat anytime were big pluses. Mom needed medications twice a day, and they made sure she got them. The facility felt more like a resort than a hospital. Staff and residents knew my mom's name and were genuinely sad to see her leave after her one-month stay. I wanted a great first experience for my mom with early-stage dementia, and this was the place! We will continue with respite/short-term stays, and when we can't care for her anymore, we will place her there. They can't do full medical care, but until mom needs that, this will be the place for her.

"Good Facility, Needs Better Communication"
Atria Collwood is a pretty nice place, both in terms of the facility itself and the staff. The folks here are all really friendly and do their best to take care of everyone. Everyone's genuinely nice. But, there are a lot of communication issues between staff members, coordinating with doctors, and such. I still find myself needing to stay very involved in the care process just to ensure everything's communicated and done right. And for the amount of money I'm shelling out, I shouldn't have to do that. It's not just this place; it seems to be an issue throughout the industry, but it's something they really need to work on.

I asked my husband, who is living there, how he would rate it, and he said he would give this place a ten out of ten. He really enjoys his stay.
