"Disappointed by Assisted Living Facility Failing Expectations"
I was really hopeful about this place based on all the positive comments I'd heard. I was searching for a good memory care spot for my mom, and I thought this could be it. But when taking the tour, I instantly regretted it. The atmosphere had no energy - the residents were asleep and not engaging in the community activities. Many seemed lost, wandering around with no staff nearby to help, which was sad to see. I was hoping to find a community with care and support for memory issues, not a vibe that made it feel like a nursing home or a psychiatric hospital. It was a big letdown. I was expecting better not just because of the good ratings, but also because a family friend of ours lived here previously and loved it.

"A Comfortable Stay for My Dad"
My dad had a bit of a rough start, but everything was fixed quickly. He stayed at Atria for three weeks. It turned out to be a good place for him. It was easy to contact management if there was an issue, and the staff was very patient and accommodating. They did everything they could to make his stay comfortable, and I really appreciated that. They had fun activities, and the place was clean and well-kept. I would send him there again.

"Clean and Comfortable Facility with Friendly Staff"
The facility is clean and comfortable. The food looks appetizing and my mom enjoys it. The caregivers are kind, and most seem attentive and patient. The facility might be a little short-staffed. The administration has been nice and helpful. It's conveniently located.

"Expensive Assisted Living with Communication Problems"
The place looked nice and clean, with friendly front desk staff. Lots of activities, but after signing the contract, communication dropped. Pill administration was confusing, but the visiting doctor and nurse were great. Expensive and billing issues.

I've used this agency and their caregivers many times. They're reliable, caring, and polite, and they interact well with my mom. They make sure her needs are taken care of, and I know she's in good hands with them. I highly recommend this agency and their caregivers.

"Fantastic Care and Compassion at This Wonderful Community"
This place is amazing. The staff is super caring and kind, and my mom’s care has been excellent. She’s been through a lot since losing my dad, and her eating habits have been off, but the staff is really helping her. They’re encouraging her, and we’re starting to see some positive changes. She’s also making friends and enjoys the environment here. I feel very comfortable with the care she’s receiving. I’d give them a 5+ star rating for how well they care for everyone.

"Fantastic Family Support!"
My mom recently moved into this place, and even though she’s still getting used to it, we’re really happy with how things are going. The staff is super nice, and I feel good about the care they’re giving my mom. My dad calls to check on her twice a day, and they’re always patient with his questions. They handle everything professionally and keep us informed. I really like the support groups they have for families—it’s been a big help!

"Nice place, but we wanted something closer to home"
We visited this place to see about care. We liked the caring staff. The community is nice, almost like a hotel. The food looks good, and they offer activities. We’d suggest this place to other families. We just wanted something closer to our home.

"A Friendly, Caring Place with Fun Activities and Good Atmosphere"
I really like this place. The staff are friendly and caring, and the community is clean and well-kept. It would be great if they could make special meal arrangements for residents with health issues, and help them understand what they should avoid in their diets. They always offer fun activities for everyone. I’d suggest this community to others because it has a great atmosphere and is a nice place to live.

"Great Staff and Care at Atria Del Rey"
I’ve really enjoyed meeting everyone at this place. I’m moving my mom in this week. The Director, is a registered nurse and has lots of experience with retirement communities. They have a Medicare program here called Care More, which includes a nurse practitioner who visits twice a week and provides medical services and some tests right at Atria Del Rey. I talked to some residents and diners who all said the food is excellent. But what stood out most to me was the staff. They all wear name tags showing how long they've worked here, and it looks like there’s very little turnover.

"Smooth Move and Great Community"
So far, everything is going well. We just moved my mom in, and the process was smooth and quick. We visited six places before deciding on this one because we liked the staff, the amenities, the atmosphere, and that it’s pet-friendly. We met some of the residents and their families, and they all had positive things to say about the community. My mom is in the Assisted Living section right now, but she will eventually need Memory Care, and I was impressed with that part of the facility too. If you’re thinking about Assisted Living, give Michael Carrillo a call and tell him what you need. He will help you out. Oh, and they have great coffee!

"Decent Assisted Living with Friendly Staff"
My mom stays here. She feels down because of life changes and mental decline. The head nurse helps balance her moods. Staff is friendly, but more caregivers are needed. Food is good, but veggies are lacking in the daily meals. Overall, it's a decent place for mostly self-sufficient loved ones.

"Medication and Wake-Up Issues"
We had some trouble with the medication, which is why my family member isn’t there anymore. They kept waking them up at 6 a.m. for their pills, but they usually take them at 9 a.m. Also, when the pills ran out, the staff said it was up to us to get more, even though we already pay them for that service.

"Fantastic Care and Flexibility at Atria Highly Recommended!"
They are fantastic. I’m really happy with their care. My dad is finally keeping his weight up. It’s great that there are such caring and loving people here. They don’t know when I’m coming, but every time I arrive, he’s always dressed, bathed, and in a clean room. If I mention anything, they quickly fix it without making excuses or blaming others. They have a restaurant upstairs, but even those downstairs get great food. If my dad doesn’t like something, they’ll order something he does like. I haven’t had any issues with anyone there. Other places had strict visiting hours or no overnight stays, but here they’re flexible and make sure my dad is settled and comfortable. I can’t say enough good things about Atria.

"Great care and food, attentive staff, minor meal reminder issue"
They’re doing a great job overall. She’s really happy there. My only concern was that she didn’t like a certain meal and needed a reminder to choose something else. Now they remember to remind her she can pick another option. The food seems good, and they are very attentive to her needs. We’re really pleased with them.

"Satisfactory Experience at Atria Del Rey"
We took care of my dad and stepmom for two years, so I know how much attention they need. Atria Del Rey has done a pretty good job meeting their needs. Both of my parents have a type of memory loss called dementia, which is why they needed to live in a special part of the facility. I haven't been able to visit for over a year because I live far away in Northern California. From my experience, the staff who were there when I could visit were fantastic. They were really dedicated and professional. My only complaints are that the management changes a lot and it took some time for the staff to understand what my parents needed. We tried to help, but they needed to learn on their own time. If you're thinking about putting your loved ones in any care facility, it's important to be involved. Visit as much as you can and speak up for your loved one. The caregivers really want to do a good job, and they need support.

"We're happy, even if she isn't"
The staff in the dining area are excellent. The food is okay, and housekeeping in the rooms is good. There are activities, but my mother-in-law doesn’t join in. We’re happy with the place, though my mother-in-law isn’t. That’s more about her, not Atria. She wouldn’t be happy anywhere. I like that there are more active people here, and the memory care is separate, which makes her feel a bit more comfortable.

"Great Place, But Oxygen Restrictions and High Costs"
My mom and dad were at this place together for 6 years. They had a great time there! The only reason my mom isn’t there now is because she needs oxygen, and their dementia unit doesn’t accept people with oxygen. It was a good place overall. I really liked the staff, but it was a bit pricey. Their med techs were fantastic too.

"Two-Week Ambassador Program Needs Better Communication"
It was very clean, and everyone was very friendly. My father-in-law enjoys it there and is happy with the activities. I liked the idea of the ambassador program for two weeks. The only issue is that after two weeks, it stops, and my father-in-law missed a church service because no one came to get him. I’m not sure if anyone told him it was only for two weeks. For people who have trouble hearing or seeing, it might help to explain more. I haven’t eaten there, but my father-in-law loves the food. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law attended the luau and said everything was great.

"Exactly what we were looking for!"
Atria Del Rey is such a wonderful place. I wish I could rate their friendliness even higher! The staff’s warmth really helped me choose this community. It feels welcoming and cozy. I toured other places, and while they were fine, Atria Del Rey just stood out. It had everything we wanted. They check on residents, handle big chores like cleaning and laundry, and keep everyone engaged. The food is great, and it's right next to a city park, which is perfect for walks. We've already recommended them to others and will keep doing so.

"Very Expensive"
My mom stayed here for a few weeks during her respite. It’s pricey—really pricey. The cost seemed much higher than other places I’ve looked at. Overall, it seemed good, but since Mom’s stay was short, I can’t say much about the care services or activities. The only thing bothering me is the bill. Erika, the director, gave us a discount on the respite, but the billing person is now charging us the difference. It’s not the best situation, but I’m hopeful it’ll get resolved. This issue seems to be with just one employee.

"Atria's Friendly Staff and Activities Made Our Tour Enjoyable"
We went on a tour led by Erika at Atria. Lunch tasted really good. The staff was super nice. They offer lots of activities for people living there and seem to genuinely care about them and their health. They offer transportation to doctor's appointments within a ten-mile radius, along with all meals included - no cooking necessary! There's dining available anytime from 7 am to 7 pm. On Mondays, there are shopping trips to the area, and on Fridays, they organize trips to concerts in the park. They also arrange for longer outings like trips to Solvang. There's even a kitchenless baking/cooking class, and a horse visit once a month on a Monday. They also take photos of their activities.
