"Positive Tour Experience at Atria Hillcrest"

Our family visited Atria Hillcrest for a tour, and we had a really good experience overall. The community was nice and the tour went well.

"More Excursions Needed for Residents at Atria Hillcrest"

The workers at Atria Hillcrest are super nice. There's one thing they could do better: I think it would be cool if they had more outings (activities away from the place) for the people who live there.

"Poor management and conditions; not recommended."

Avoid this place! They seriously need to hire managers who actually care about the elderly and know where everyone is. Plus, things like fresh paint and new carpets, specifically in the residents’ rooms, need to be done. They should also improve their food and not serve watered down juice. I would definitely not suggest this place to others. It was a terrible experience for my family.

"Great place with new friends, activities, and excellent memory care!"

I really like living here and have made many new friends. It's been enjoyable for me. I think it would be good for other people's relatives too. There are lots of different activities to do here. They also have a really good memory care unit.

"Friendly Staff and Good Meals, But Some Delays"

I would recommend this community to others. Just make sure it's the right fit for your loved one. If you need quick responses to questions or concerns, this might not be the place for you. There can be delays because of waiting on doctors, but the staff is very friendly and keep you informed. Some requests are not done quickly, which can be frustrating sometimes. The staff is good at checking on the residents and keeping them safe. There are three meals a day, and there's also a bistro area where residents can pick up snacks.

"Second Choice, Higher Care Needs Met"

Our visit to Atria Hillcrest went okay. It was our second option. We thought the place we ultimately picked would better meet my loved one's high care needs.

Our family visited in person. The tour was pleasant, staff friendly, but the community seemed old.

"Great staff and care, but transportation and cleanliness need improvement"

The staff here are really friendly and helpful. When my loved one moved in, she had some issues, but they were very patient with her. It's a bit pricey, but it’s about the same or maybe a bit less than other places. I feel good knowing that my family member is well cared for and there’s help available if I can't be there. One area that could be better is their transportation. Even though they’re supposed to provide rides to doctor appointments, their schedule is too limited. They only offer transportation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. With Covid, it's hard to pick when your doctor appointments will be, so this can be a problem. I haven’t been able to visit much inside, but the lobby looks clean. The hallways by the rooms could be a bit cleaner. Activities have been limited due to Covid, but things are getting better, which is good. It seems like they’re doing their best within the county’s restrictions.

"Great care, but could be more affordable and tech-friendly"

This place is pricey, and it will get pricier. We've already had a rent increase. But you probably don't want to put your loved one in a cheap place. They have managed Covid really well. They keep a good eye on my loved one. My loved one likes the staff, and they seem very nice to her. They have an in-house doctor who always seems to be there if you choose to use him. I've toured the facility remotely, and it looks really well managed. I wish they had more support for financial aid that seniors need to pay for their care. And their payment website could be a lot better. Overall, we're happy our loved one is here. We don't think she would still be with us if she wasn't.

"Avoid: Good Looking Facility, Bad Care, Untruthful Management!"

I've gotta say, I'm really upset about having to take my mom out of here following one awful event after another. The place doesn't have enough staff and the workers they do have are stretched too thin to do their jobs right. Their grounds and rooms are really nice, and the food's great too. I just wish they'd focus more on taking care of residents rather than making things look good. Do not get tricked by the sweet talk of the sales people and management; they are just interested in making profit and they don’t truly care for the residents or their own employees. Please avoid this place so you and your old folks don't have to go through the big mess we had to deal with!

"Understaffed Facility Fails to Provide Adequate Care"

This place has bad management. Some of the people who take care of the residents are good, but others aren't. They don't have enough staff, so the caregivers have to work too much. Because of this, the people who live here don't get the care they're supposed to get, even though they're paying a lot of money for it. Some of the residents are too heavy for the staff to handle, and they've been hurt because of it. Also, a few of the people who live here are mean to other residents and the staff, both with words and actions.

"Careful with Costs and Care: Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living"

I liked the place and the people who work there. But I didn't like that you have to pay to play Bingo and horse racing games. My mom gets stressed about money, so she wouldn't like it even though it's just a quarter! Also, I didn't like that the care levels were based on time spent with residents rather than the services they receive. It feels like caregivers are just counting minutes with my mom.

"Wonderful Community with Friendly Staff and Fun Activities!"

The Atria Hillcrest is a wonderful, amazing place! My friend loved it the first time she saw it, and I enjoy visiting almost every day. The staff is super friendly and caring. My friend recently started joining activities and uses the gym for her therapy. Everyone there is very nice, and we're both making new friends. They even had a concert recently. I would definitely recommend Atria Hillcrest.

"Wonderful staff and care—highly recommended!"

My dad lived at this community for a short time, and we were very happy with how things went for him. The staff were excellent and made sure to meet his needs as best they could. I was glad to see him eating well and joining in some activities with other residents. Overall, we have no complaints and would recommend this place to anyone.

"Beautiful facility, but not right for husband’s condition."

I really liked this place. They answered all my questions, and the facility is beautiful. However, it didn't seem like the right fit for my husband since he would be the only resident with Parkinson's disease.

"Great care, clean, and lots of activities and meals"

We are really happy with the care here. The staff is amazing and always paying attention. The place is very clean. The activities are fun. They offer lots of tasty meal choices. We would suggest this place to other families.

"A Welcoming Choice"

When I chose this place for my dad, the start was a bit rocky. But since then, it's been good for all of us. He enjoys the meals and has made a friend. The staff are welcoming and helpful. I'd recommend them.

"Friendly staff and clean place, no complaints!"

I left Atria because I wanted to go back home. It wasn’t because of Atria, though. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The place was really clean, and everything about my time there was great.

"Great care and activities for Dad; worth every penny"

I really like this community for my father's care. They're doing a great job. We love the staff; they’re always on top of things. My father is very happy with the activities, especially playing bingo every day. He's made many new friends, which is great to see. I highly recommend this place for families. The price is worth everything they offer.

"Comfortable Living!"

The staff at this assisted living community have been very kind to my mother since she moved in. The best thing about this place is her apartment—she can share a room with someone while still having her own private bedroom. Overall, I'm pleased with everything, but I hope they lower the price soon to make it more affordable for my mother.

"A Wonderful Place for My Parents"

I absolutely love Atria! I felt the same way 4 years ago when I first visited this little gem. The staff and residents are amazing. My father is already thriving and getting better. My mother needs more time, but I believe she will improve too. I hope we got her there early enough for that to happen.

"Stay Away from Atria: Pitiful Care and Inadequate Staff!"

We took my mom out of Atria, it was that bad. For almost three months, there was no main boss for the memory care section. And the workers were barely adults, like 18, 19, and 20 years old. They absolutely had no clue what they were doing. Whenever I visited, no matter what we were doing, my mom would just beg me to take her away, saying she couldn't stand it. One of the guys working there even told me that people were leaving all the time. He mentioned incidents of elderly women falling and the shocking nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. I wouldn't suggest anyone to go there.

"Dad's Excellent Care"

I’m really happy with the care my dad gets here. The staff is super nice, professional, and friendly. He has lots of activities to choose from and enjoys the meals and their variety. We love how clean and beautiful the community is. This place has everything for great care and value. Others would love the care their loved ones get here too.

"Smooth Move-In, Clean, and Friendly Staff"

The staff at Atria made moving in really easy and well-organized. The place is super clean and nicely decorated. The staff is polite and friendly.

"Verify facility's services before touring, odd smell in dementia unit"

My review is based on a visit to the dementia area of this place. I don't have any family staying here. Talking to some people who do have their loved ones here, they seemed to like the employees. However, towards the end of our tour, we found out from the person in charge of the dementia area that they didn't have what we were looking for. I think it's a good idea to make sure they can meet your needs before you take a tour. They mentioned they can't make pureed food or thicken juice. Also, there was a strange smell in the dementia area when we were there.

"Very good, with enjoyable food and activities."

My mother stayed at Atria Hillcrest for a month of respite care, and it was very good. It might have been different if she had her own room and was staying permanently, but overall, it was good. She liked the food, the activities, and everything.

"Outstanding Staff and Great Food at Atria Hillcrest!"

Atria Hillcrest really shines because of its caring and friendly staff. They always greet you with big smiles and are super kind and helpful. The staff is definitely the best part of this place. I was very impressed with them. The food is also very good. The facility itself has been updated and looks and smells brand new. It’s a very nice and well-organized care facility.

"Hit or Miss: Assisted Living Facility Review"

This place is tidy, cozy, nice, and welcoming. But, no medical help is available here whatsoever. Their communication is terrible. Nobody seems to have a clue about anything, not even their own rules. You'll hear different things about what they offer and how much it costs depending on who you ask. However, it's a nice place to stay if you just need a room, food, and a bit of help, like dealing with incontinence.

"Flee from Expensive, Subpar Care at Atria's 'Life Guidance'"

For 11 years my Mom's been living here at this assisted facility. She shifted to the new "Life Guidance" floor last year, being one of its very first residents. Right from the beginning, it felt like she was just a test subject. There's been five separate directors there since it opened. The care they promised has been so far from what they've actually provided. We're spending $6800 each month, expecting care of the highest standard, like those fancy "Rolls Royce" cars. But what Mom's been getting is more like an average Volkswagon car. The memory care unit, in particular, doesn't have enough staff and they seem to quit every week. It's the same with the directors, like I've already said. Give the Atria a call and if they put you on hold, you'll hear their over enthusiastic description of what the Life Guidance floor supposedly offers. But trust me, it's a sick joke. Now we're having to find a new place for Mom because of their severe neglect. Just to clear the bitterness, this isn't the caregivers' fault. The management is to blame for not hiring competent, long-term employees. It's been since September 14th and we're still waiting for management to address our concerns. We were there at 9 this morning and there wasn't a single manager in the whole place, nice surprise, right? Take this as a warning, don't walk, run to find a better place for your loved one. Not having them live here would be the best thing you could do for them.

This was the smaller of the two Atria places I looked at. I really liked it; it was very nice. The staff I met were very nice too.

"“Inclusion Needed for Participation”"

It’s meant for active people, but my loved one is stuck in bed due to pain. The place is nice, the food is good, and the staff are friendly. They offer lots of activities, but it might not be the right fit. Unfortunately, there’s no community table, and new residents sit alone. Some initial isolation exists. It’d be great if everyone could participate, but our loved one can’t.

"Best Place for Mom"

Atria was amazing! It’s newly remodeled everywhere, and the staff is excellent—not just the office staff, but also maintenance, food service, and housekeeping. The rooms are great too. We were lucky and didn’t have to go on a waitlist. One resident was leaving the deluxe 1-bedroom just two days after Mom’s tour. They offered us the ground floor unit at a prorated rate for the end of the month. Since the previous resident had been there a long time, they completely redid the inside of the apartment—top to bottom—and even put in a tub instead of the shower, just as Mom requested, at no extra cost! The community rep is the best. They answered all our questions and helped during the move-in, staying on top of everything. The whole facility is bright, cheerful, and feels open, with nice grounds and areas to walk or sit outside. We’re all happy and pleased. Even though it might seem different from Mom’s home, she’s really enjoying the transition. Anyway, we all want to THANK YOU again for making this tough decision so pleasant for us. You are the best!

"Good, but Backbreaking Cost"

He’s only been there a little while, but two doctors have called and introduced themselves. They try to accommodate anything we need, and they seem pretty nice. The cost difference between this place and the last community is really high—$6,000 without furniture. So far, though, they’ve been very nice. On top of paying for them, they suggested a private 24-hour caregiver, and the cost has gone up a lot. We’re happy with the caregiver, but we’re thinking about moving him back home since he isn’t participating in activities and isn’t getting anything extra from being there.

"Wonderful Staff, Clean Facility, and a Lovely Place!"

He was only there for five days, and it was great. It wasn't because of anything they did; it was just a family issue that made him leave. I loved it, especially the staff, the cleanliness, and the lovely facility.

"Great Place, Mom's Happy, But More Activities Wanted"

The place is good and going well. My mom is happy there. They clearly show what is included in the price. I would like to see a bit more variety in activities. I think the food is very good; I’ve tried it a few times. The warmth and care of the staff and the friendliness of the residents felt different from the other places I visited, and that's why I chose this one.

"Everyday Feels Like a Battle at This Assisted Living Facility"

This place is pretty nice. The rooms are fresh and neat, and most staff members treat us well. Yet, we've had many bumps since my mom moved in. She was one of the first to join the memory care unit, and among the last to have her name engraved on the wall. There's an ongoing struggle with the medication organization and correct dispensing. Keeping her active and involved isn't easy either. They promised me they'd keep her occupied. Maybe that's true for an 87-year-old, but my 68-year-old mom has too much spare time. These past three months have been super tough. It feels like I’m constantly butting heads with them. They’re doing okay in taking care of her in general - she’s safe, clean, and fed. But, they didn't deliver what they initially promised. If she hadn't already gotten cosy, I'd switch her place. However, her doctors don't think it's a good idea at the moment.

"Comfortable layout and friendly staff"

The assisted living facility has a great layout. The rooms are spacious and well-designed, making it easy for residents to move around. The common areas are comfortable and welcoming. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. The food is tasty and the dining area is nice. Overall, it's a wonderful place for seniors to live comfortably.

"Lovely Facility Undergoing Renovations"

It was a lovely facility. They are doing a lot of indoor reconstruction, so things are a bit upside down in there, but they say it should all be done by October. There was some pressure to get my father-in-law in now before the rates go up after the upgrades finish, but it was too far in Thousand Oaks, and he prefers to stay in Vegas.

"Consistent care and responsive staff make for pleasant experience!"

When I started with my advisor last fall, we met with a nice gentleman who kept in touch for months. When my dad moved in, there was a new person, but both were great. Even with lots of changes in administration lately, things have stayed fine. My dad doesn't need much care now, but what he gets is good, and there are plenty of activities. I only had one concern, but when I told an administrator, she fixed it right away. I wish there hadn't been a problem, but I'm happy with how it was handled!

"Beautiful and Cheaper Than Grand Oaks or Belmont"

This place is beautiful and cheaper than Grand Oaks or Belmont. It’s newly renovated and has WiFi in every room (the only place that offers this). The food and dining area are great. There’s no pool, but they go to one twice a week and have other outings. There’s a theater and a library. The upgrades made me imagine living there, maybe because of the 10 huge, old oak trees. There’s a putting green, and any care you need is provided discreetly in your apartment, so you don’t have to move as your needs change. I was very impressed!
