"A Homelike Haven with Excellent Communication"
The Gardens at Escondido feels more like a cozy home for our loved one. The staff communicates really well with us. We've met and liked the staff on the memory care side, who consistently update us via calls or emails about our loved one. We're pleased with the care they provide and would recommend them to other families seeking a place for their loved ones.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"
I brought my loved one here, and just three days later, they locked down the entire facility due to COVID. A month passed, and they finally reopened, but now they're in another lockdown, and I can't visit. I'm really let down because it seemed like a great place, yet I haven't even been able to go inside.

"Cozy and Welcoming Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
The staff here makes my mom feel really welcome and at home. She keeps saying how good this place is for her. It's surprising how affordable it is, and it's the nicest place we could find for the cost. I think they could add more activities that engage the mind instead of just social hours. More mental activities could help her improve faster. They recently switched to Gardens from Atria, but they didn't tell us about it very well. They should work on communication. The people who take care of her are very nice. The executive director seems cool and is adjusting to the changes. The facility is small, so it's great if your family member prefers a cozy place. There's not much outdoor space, but what they have is well cared for. It's very clean, and the maintenance person is really nice.

"Lack of Staff Impacts Care Quality, Exceptional Maintenance and Housekeeping"
We had many issues with the care due to not enough staff. The staff they had were wonderful. However, I felt my loved one didn't receive proper care. Maintenance and housekeeping staff were outstanding. All departments were short-staffed, an administrative problem.

"Creative Activities and Caring Staff Make Assisted Living Stand Out"
The staff at this assisted living place is really great, like a five-star rating. The food looks good and they give you big portions, which is nice. They try hard with the activities, like getting iPads so we can talk to our family when we couldn't visit. They set up outside areas once we could visit again. When they had to keep us inside, they got creative and played bingo on the iPads, which was fun.

"Mixed Experience in Assisted Living Facility"
The place was pretty clean overall. The staff was nice, but sometimes it was hard to find them. The care was decent. We felt the laundry services could be better. They always had stuff for residents to do. The price was okay for what you get.

"Friendly, Clean Facility; Extra Costs and Limited Amenities Concerning"
The staff here was really nice and it felt like a close-knit family. The building was full of natural light and the ceilings were tall, which made it feel very open. It was clean too. However, there wasn't a lot of space to go outside. It's a pretty small place with only about 80 people living there. There's no gym or pool, which was a bit of a letdown. I still need to figure out how much it costs for a one-bedroom place. I was upset to find that the rooms don't have kitchens, so Mom wouldn't be able to cook. Personal care costs extra and they'll bring food to the room, but that also costs extra. This place is certified for memory care if Mom needs it. My only real concern is that Mom might not fit in well with the older folks there.

"Mixed Feelings After Touring The Facility"
The guy who showed me around, was a good guy and he answered every question that I had. However, the place itself was pretty small. Also, the place it was located wasn't great. A lot of cars that weren't working properly were parked on the nearby road. The place didn't really give me a warm, welcoming feel. I don't think I'd feel comfortable having my mom stay here.

"Great tour, friendly staff, delicious food, but lacking kitchen for mom"
Atria North Escondido was a super cool place to check out! The people working there were really nice and they answered all the questions we had. It's super quiet there, which is nice. We got to eat there too, and the chef was really proud of the food they made. They even gave us some homemade muffins to take home! It's in a really good spot, close to the YMCA. But we ended up picking another place because my mom really wanted a kitchen.

I thought this place was really nice and the staff took good care of it. They had a great layout for everyone living here, and they were very professional during our tour. I appreciated how clean everything was and that they had lots of activities for the residents. Unfortunately, it didn't quite match what my mom needed.

"She's adjusting wonderfully and making friends"
At first, my mom wasn't too happy about moving into the memory care unit. But now, she's settled in and making friends. She goes on outings and walks. They've moved her to the first floor with residents who are more active. I'm glad to know she's well taken care of and safe. She really enjoys the food there.

"Mom’s Happy Home with Caring Staff"
My family and I really like Atria Escondido for our mom. She stays in the part of the place where they help people with their memories. Everyone working there is super nice and kind, and they make sure my mom is well taken care of. At first, we were worried she might not get used to living somewhere new, but in just a week, she was doing just fine, all thanks to the people there. Now, she’s really happy and the care she gets is awesome. She has a lot of fun with the activities and trips they go on. The workers watch what she does every day very closely and make sure everything about her care is just right for her. We’re all super pleased with how things are going.

"Overall, we are happy with Atria’s activities and meals!"
Atria is just as great as advertised. We’ve encouraged my mother-in-law to join activities and be more social. The meals are okay—better quality would be nice, but they are sufficient. They had a lot of fun entertainment for Valentine's Day this month. Overall, we're happy with how things are going.

My husband is still getting used to the place, but overall, it's nice, and I'm happy. I do have a couple of problems with the workers because they talked to his doctor without telling me. This place was really nice and clean. The people living there were friendly and seemed happy and relaxed. They seemed to like where they were living. he, one of the staff, was super helpful and answered all of our questions. "Not a great experience, can't recommend"
My thoughts on Atria North Escondido aren't really good. An Atria worker evaluated my husband and said he couldn't join Atria until he was in better shape. At this point, my husband couldn't walk and couldn't follow the physical therapist's directions for therapy.

"Subpar Food and Slow Service at Atria North Escondido"
Atria North Escondido is a decent place. My mom really appreciates how well they clean her space. However, she isn't thrilled with the meals they serve, especially when the soup is ice cold. Service can take ages sometimes, and we're guessing this might be because they don't have enough people on the job. The staff, though, are really friendly and they are always trying to make us happy. They have lots of activities, but my mom doesn't really join in. Overall, I guess it's an OK place for her.

"Tight Parking and Smoke Sours Otherwise Decent Facility"
The living spaces and amenities were decently spacious and clean at the facility. However, it's a smaller community with not many activities or extras. Parking spaces for the residents are really cramped and scarce. Plus, the spot to smoke is situated directly by the main doors – seriously off-putting.

"Extremely pleased with Atria North Escondido"
I was really impressed with Atria North Escondido when I first toured it, but I wanted to wait until my Mom had been there for a while before writing a review. I’m still very impressed with the care and the facilities. The staff is caring and clearly happy in their work, which is hard to fake over time. The only smell I remember from the tour was the pot roast from lunch, and it smelled amazing. The rooms are big and cozy, and I liked that we could furnish the room with Mom’s things. It didn’t feel like a "rest home," but rather a real home. I’m still very pleased with Atria. I was especially impressed with the management staff and how they teach, not punish, their staff. I think Atria North Escondido understands that if your staff is happy, your clients and residents will be too. I really hope that if my family is ever in the same situation, they find a place like Atria North Escondido for me.

"Decent Place but Could Improve"
This place isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either. The food is a big issue. They have a daily menu, but a lot of it my mom can't eat because of what's in it. She mostly has to eat BLT's. We see a lot of people taking a few bites and then pushing the food away, so it’s not just us. They try to accommodate, but there aren't many options. The people are nice, and the room is nice. They are a bit understaffed, and the staff is often running around. The three most important things are the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the food.
