"Frustrated Residents Considering Moving Out of Pacifica Senior Residence"
My buddy who lives in the independent living section of this place has noticed that the elevators break down a lot. The people in charge keep saying they're going to get new ones, but it never happens. The heat went out in a bunch of the apartments once, even the whole tenth floor not too long ago. They gave out space heaters, but they don't work so well. They also took away our favorite TV channel, KOCE, and keep saying they'll add it back soon but always say they're "waiting on a part". This mystery part never shows up. And I heard of a situation where an elderly black resident was told she couldn't go into the dining room using her motorized wheelchair, which isn't fair since other residents with regular wheelchairs can. She left because of that and others are thinking of doing the same. You won't catch me living there. Heard through the grapevine that Pacifica got a thumbs down from the Better Business Bureau.

"Assisted Living Review: Some Issues but Generally Okay"
I gave this place three stars because there are a couple of things bothering me. Firstly, they've made some changes recently where the staff don't take out the trash anymore. It's a hassle for some residents who find it hard to carry their trash down the hall to the chute. Also, the TV package they have always seems to have one channel not working, and nobody there can fix it. It takes Direct TV weeks to come and repair it. Apart from these issues, everything else is alright.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The staff and residents are really nice and helpful. The staff listens to what the residents need. But the elevators often break down, which is a big problem because some residents can't move easily. They should fix the elevators completely. The first floor smells like the kitchen sometimes, so they should get a good air freshener like hotels have. It would also be good if they had dining available for 12 hours. They should clean the carpets in the hallways more often where they're dirty. We heard that they might raise the rent by as much as 10%. That's a lot for people who don't get more money regularly.

"Unsafe Assisted Living Facility Faces Challenges with Leaks and Food"
Pacifica in San Diego bought Boxby Towers in . The place isn't safe anymore. They have evacuation problems, no night staff, and the building locks up at 5:30 PM. You need a special key (FOB) to get in. Plus, there are lots of leaks and floods. The food is mostly carbs, and they promised vegan options but didn't deliver.

"Poor food, service and increased rent at assisted living facility"
The elevators were broken, so no meals were served that day. There weren't enough staff members to help the residents at night. Many residents complain about the quality of the food. The dining hall often runs out of food. The bus used to take residents to doctor's appointments and church visits has shrunk in size. The rent has increased more than what was originally talked about.

"Unreliable Services and Uptick in Rent Makes New Assisted Living a Mess."
The new bosses here don't really understand how to run a place for older folks to live independently. Sometimes, they don't even serve food because they didn't plan for it, they increase the rent as much as they legally can, and then reduce services like washing our bed sheets, towels, and toilet paper, and keeping the house clean. The elevators in our 14-floor building don't always work, sometimes there's no hot water, and heating and cooling isn't reliable. There's no security at night, and construction noise keeps us awake. I'm searching for a better place for my Mom because this spot is a total mess.

"Unsatisfactory Care and Misrepresentation at Assisted Living Facility"
This place doesn't match its advertisements. The elevators constantly break. It looks like they've never cleaned the windows. The food is gross and they serve the same meals over and over. A lot of the people living here can't think clearly and many are just downright mean and have disabilities. Management always tells us to be patient when things don't work. My rent increased by $80 within the first 6 months. They don't offer rides like they promised. All they ever give are excuses.

"A Bright and Welcoming Place for Dad"
My father really loves it here, and he’s adjusting well. He’s starting to get more involved, which is wonderful. When we first visited unexpectedly, the place was bright, friendly, and really nice. Even without an appointment, they happily gave us a tour. After that, we knew it would be a great fit for my dad. It’s good for our family too; we can visit him and share meals together. The food is tasty, and my dad enjoys the activities, especially joining the chorus.

"Grandpa is happy and well cared for here"
This place is perfect for my grandpa. The staff is super friendly, and the housekeeping is great, so he doesn't have to worry about that. He's in the independent living section and pays month to month, which he likes. The marketing person helped us find caregivers and medication support. They serve meals three times a day, and if he wants a snack, there's always something available. He loves sitting in the chairs out front and in the sunroom. He really enjoys all the activities, like the entertainment and birthday celebrations. He says they always make it special. I would recommend this place to anyone.

"Great tour, lovely staff, but mom chose elsewhere in end."
My mom and I just visited this place. It was great! It was one of my mom's favorites among all the places we saw. The staff were all really nice and answered all our questions. The location was perfect for us, but my mom decided to go with a different place in the end.

"Not active, lacking engagement; wouldn't recommend for care."
We didn't enjoy this tour. The other residents were in their rooms and not active. The staff didn't greet me when I arrived. This community looked nice, but we wanted a place that offers activities. The menu seemed good. We wouldn't recommend this community for families looking for good care for a loved one.

"Perfect Place for Mom's New Home!"
My 97-year-old mother recently moved to assisted living after living in her home since 1952. Director was an amazing first contact, understanding how hard it might be to convince my mom to move. The managing director is the kindest, most caring director who really makes sure my mom feels happy and comfortable every day. The adjustment has been fantastic, and she’s only been here for a week! A big thank you to all the friendly and supportive staff for their love and care during this transition.

Moving to Bixby Knolls Towers has really been a great decision. The care, kindness, and overall assistance from the staff have been just what I needed. Living here has been an easy transition and now feels like home. I don't know much about other senior living places in the area, but BK has lived up to all my expectations.

"Dad's Happy Home at Bixby Knolls Towers, Long Beach, CA"
Bixby Knolls Towers in Long Beach was one of the places we considered for my dad's new place to live. I couldn't go with him the first time, but my niece went with him and had a great experience. They even offered a free stay for a few days, which my dad used. Unfortunately, he had an accident while he was there, but it wasn't the facility's fault. Despite that, he liked it so much that he wanted to apply to live there independently. The person in charge of marketing is fantastic! She kept me updated on everything, even though I'm in Texas and the facility is in California. She recommended a moving company that knows how to move people into this place smoothly. They did a great job and worked well with my family. When I visited my dad after he moved in, I could see that he felt comfortable and "at home" in his new apartment, compared to being alone in his big house. He's 95 years old and had lived in his house for 63 years! The same manager has been answering all my questions, even after my dad became a resident. It took less than three months from when he first saw the place to when he moved in, and it was his idea! He doesn't do many activities, which is why I didn't rate that part as excellent. We've been happily recommending Bixby Knolls Towers to everyone who asks. I hope my dad can live happily in his new home for a long time. He still cooks his breakfast and sometimes plays golf, but he's glad he has three meals a day available. He also likes that his laundry gets done and his apartment is cleaned regularly, including changing the bed linens. We feel lucky to have found this wonderful place. It's a bit older than some others we looked at, but that's part of why it's more spacious and affordable than newer places.

"Review of Bixby Knolls Towers - Long Beach, CA"
The managing director was super nice and gave us lots of info. She knew all the residents’ names during our tour. The place was clean and looked newly updated. I saw the maintenance team quickly fixing up an empty unit. The dining area was really nice with fancy tablecloths and lots of staff. Residents were playing bridge in the rec room. It seemed like a great place to live with amazing views from the upstairs apartments.

Residents are friendly and willing to help new arrivals. Billing is straightforward and very competitive with the market.

"Great move-in support and care at the Towers"
After Mom had a stroke and needed to move fast, we were lucky to find the Towers. The staff there was super friendly and helpful. They showed us the available apartments and quickly helped with the paperwork and medical info. They even worked with the rehab facility where Mom was before and helped us find a mover for her furniture. Everything has been really smooth so far. Mom’s only been there a few days, but she's starting to settle in well. We're really happy with how everything turned out.

"Bixby Knolls Towers: A Comfortable and Friendly Living Experience"
I have been living at Bixby Knolls Towers, an independent living facility in Long Beach, California, for almost four years. The apartments are beautiful and come in studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options, all with fully equipped kitchens. Even though they serve three meals a day in the dining room, having a kitchen is a nice touch! There is plenty of closet space, and the rent covers linens, towels, toilet paper, basic cable TV, and all utilities except for the phone. A cleaning lady comes to clean your apartment once a week, and you get three gourmet meals daily in a lovely dining room. There’s also a laundry room on-site, and they offer car service to doctors' appointments, shopping, and other places. Plus, there are many fun activities to join. If you ever become disabled and can’t live independently anymore, you can easily move to the Assisted Living section right next door. Overall, this place is very comfortable, the surroundings are beautiful, and the people are friendly. The staff is excellent too.
