"Recommended Assisted Living with Great Staff, Some Billing Issues"
I think this place is good. The people who work here are really nice and helpful. They take good care of the residents. The only problem I've had is with the bills. Sometimes they're not clear and the amount changes without a reason, so I have to call for my mom. It's not a big deal, just needs a bit of improvement.

"Brookdale Assisted Living: Convenient but Needs Family Monitoring"
We chose Brookdale because it's nearby and lets us visit Dad often. Nurses suggested it too. I'd say go for Brookdale, but families need to watch their loved ones closely. There aren't enough staff to keep an eye on residents, and rooms aren't very clean. Yes, I'd recommend it, but make sure you keep a close watch on your loved one.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living; Appreciates Care and Food"
Overall, it's mostly positive. She's still getting used to it but isn't always happy about being there. She wants more encouragement from the staff. She thinks the cleaning might be rushed because it's done quickly. Her bed might not always be changed, but she might have just made it herself so it might have looked like it was already done. She sees spots in the carpet. She feels like they sometimes don't do what they say they'll do. They're always nice to us. She always compliments the food!! She's starting to join in on a few things. She doesn't like going upstairs and prefers exercise when someone leads it. We appreciate the veterans discount, but it's still quite expensive. We think she's safe and well cared for.

"Mixed Experience: Nice Caregivers, Poor Management, Hidden Charges"
Brookdale Brea has some really good caregivers, but the people in charge aren't so great. They don't tell you upfront that you have to pay extra for each service. They should be more clear about that. I will admit, though, the rooms are super nice. Overall, I'd still suggest this place to others who are searching.

"Costly Assisted Living Leaves Loved One Isolated"
We chose this community because it's close to home, but it's too expensive. I wanted them to encourage my loved one to participate in activities, but unfortunately, they didn't. As a result, my loved one ended up being alone for most of the day.

"Parking Concerns Diminish Otherwise Positive Tour Experience"
Our family visited the assisted living facility in person, and the tour was quite good. However, we were not happy with the visitor parking situation. When we arrived, the gates were closed, possibly due to COVID-19 restrictions. This meant we had to park around the block and walk back. We felt this wasn't safe, especially at night when visiting family. This was the main drawback for us.

"Good Experience but Watch Out for Extra Costs"
My time at Brookdale Brea has been good overall. The only issue is that the extra costs can add up. For example, you get nine free meal deliveries, then it's $12 each time after that, which seems high. It's tough for older folks to handle those extra charges. The staff has been pretty good, and the maintenance team is super helpful. We haven't had any problems with anyone. The facility is clean, and they seem to have good activities.

"Worst customer service anywhere"
This place is all talk and no action! The sales team made an encouragingly positive case about securing a spot for my mother, who has end stage cancer. Almost every promise that they made was broken. The first promise being that they would email me a breakdown of the costs and options available. This never ended up happening. They also promised that they had a bed available for my mother, and that she would be welcomed the next week. They turned her down without even an examination. After touring with the Chief of Sales, my sister was under the impression that things were going well. We had been given false hopes, and my mother was obviously crushed by it. Five sisters had chosen this place as our mother's new home. We had become emotionally involved, and the build-up of positivity under these false promises was not only unprofessional, but cruel. Promise: Chief of sales, [name removed], answered the phone and promised to call me back as soon as he was finished with a meeting. He never called back, after I called later I was told that he had left for the day. Implied promise: As directed by his voicemail, I left a message requesting a call back, leaving two contact numbers. (He never called back.) These people are liars, and I will not trust a word that they say.

"Didn't quite meet our specific needs"
I visited this place, and it felt really nice. I liked it because it had a cozy vibe. But it did feel a bit cramped, and my Mom has claustrophobia, so it wasn't perfect. The outdoor area didn't have comfy seats, but they said they could bring out pillows to make it better. I saw the rooms, and one had a cute little balcony. Overall, the prices seemed good, but the narrow spaces were a drawback.

"Excellent Staff, Food, and Activities"
Brookdale is amazing. The staff is great. If you ask them something, they give you a good answer, and if they don't know, they find someone who can help. The food is really good. They had a fantastic Thanksgiving brunch. There are activities every afternoon like sing-alongs, live music, and games. It's always very clean here because they keep cleaning. This place is excellent, and I would definitely recommend it.

"Would return if needed, but a bit pricey"
Mom broke her foot and shoulder, so she needed short-term care. She really liked the place. The staff was amazing, kind, and friendly. They always responded quickly when she rang the call bell. She really enjoyed the food while she was there. Mom said if she ever needed to, she would go back regularly, but for now, it's a bit expensive for her budget.

"Happy with Brookdale Brea, but wish for better orientation"
Mother is still getting used to living here, but I think she's being well taken care of and is safe. I feel like she's in a better place now than she was before. I don't regret moving her here at all; they’ve been great in helping her settle in. I just wish there had been more of an introduction for her about how things work around here. She’s taking some time to get used to the daily schedule. Overall, it’s a really good community and we’re happy with it so far. I’ve even recommended it to a neighbor whose dad will need care soon. I told her to check out Brookdale Brea.

"Assisted Living Facility: Warm Staff, Limited Food Choices, Positive Experience"
Our time with them has been nice, despite these tough times. They've been really helpful, and we've liked the caregivers a lot. The food options are a bit limited. Overall, it's been a good experience. I feel like for the room size we got and the peacefulness, it was worth the money. The WHOLE staff makes you feel like family; from the greeters and receptionist to the caregivers and managers, EVERYONE is super friendly.

"Good Care, but Poor Engagement for Dad"
Dad stayed at Brookdale Brea for respite care. The staff helped him take his medication, but after meals, he mostly went to his room to sleep. They didn't really try to engage him in activities. The staff were very good, though. However, the young lady on the waitstaff wasn't suited for working with the elderly. She seemed frustrated and told us about it. Other than that, everyone else at the facility was really great.

"Mixed Feelings: Assisted Living Facility Review"
I'm not sure if this place is perfect for us. Mom enjoys it and has made friends. She's happy with the food and the staff take good care of her. However, there are some problems with the building. The water takes ages to warm up, and the light switch is in an awkward spot. Also, we've had some billing issues. My main concern is if this place offers the right level of care for Mom. They have lots of activities and the staff is friendly.

"Clean and pleasant, but lacking outings. New van shows promise."
The place is nice and clean. They don't go out much. Food's pretty good. They lost their activities boss, but got a new van. Maybe more activities soon, like mall trips or eating out.

"Fantastic Service with Accommodations for Large Groups"
My family member lived here for several years, and it was wonderful. The staff was fantastic and did an amazing job. Since it was quite pricey, you would expect a high level of service, and they delivered. They could handle large groups of people, taking two or three van loads if needed, and were always very accommodating.

"Friendly Atmosphere with Room for Improvement"
This place is really nice. Everyone knows my grandma's name as soon as we walk in, and they always say hi. That makes her feel good. But, they need to spruce up the place a bit. New paint, carpets, and furniture would make it better. Sometimes they mess up her medicine, maybe when the shifts change. It's super close to our house, which is why we picked it. There's lots to do here, especially card games. They're changing the food, but it's not going over well. It's slow and tastes bad.

"Clean, Friendly, and Fun for Mom"
My family and I are really happy with Emeritus at Brea. The place is clean, organized, and the staff is super nice. They’ve helped us with room colors, adding cabinets, and more. We’re still moving my mom in, but they’ve been really supportive. Whenever we visit, there are fun activities, and we’re always invited. My mom is excited about the move, which makes us all very relieved and happy.

"Warm Welcome and Fun for Seniors at Emeritus at Brea"
Seven weeks ago, my mom started a new chapter at Emeritus at Brea. It wasn’t easy at first, but the team there was super welcoming. Right when she arrived, they greeted her by name and mine too! Everyone’s been really nice and giving. They’ve got this cool ride service that takes people on trips. Plus, my mom’s room got a fresh paint job, new carpets, and a good clean before she came. There are lots of events for families, and it’s really cheap for us to join in. Mom’s settled in well, thanks to the friendly staff and neighbors. She’s into bridge, bingo, and even tried out a golf game. I’d say Emeritus at Brea is a great place for any older person looking for a new home.

"Great for independent seniors; could improve care for needier residents."
My family member can't move on her own and needs lots of attention which she doesn't seem to get at this place. They don't seem to have enough time or patience to help her properly. They seem to rush through her care. Largely because it's a big facility with lots of residents. Luckily, there are some great staff like Thai, a medical technician, who does an amazing job. Furthermore, when she is on duty, she ensures my family member isn't left waiting too long after activating her call button, proving to be very caring. She often drops by just to check that everything is fine. Unfortunately, most of the staff appear lackadaisical, and my family member thinks they handle her too roughly. I've spoken to Joyce the director, and she's trying her best to resolve the problems. I'm trying to be understanding, and it seems most residents are content because they are more independent.
