""Negligent Care and Lack of Knowledge at Assisted Living Facility""
My family suffered a terrible ordeal with the acute care staff at this place. It appeared as if they lacked knowledge about conditions following a stroke or reactions caused by medicines. Furthermore, they left my sister under the care of a learner nurse without supervision, leading to her falling.

"Great tour; friendly staff and clean with rehab center"
We toured this place for Dad. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions. It was a clean and welcoming environment. I liked that they had a rehab center on-site. They had great reviews, and the memory center was impressive too. They just didn’t have a one-bedroom available when I was looking. I’d suggest other families check it out.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
This place was pretty nice, super clean and tidy. The folks working there seemed really nice and ready to lend a hand. But, one thing bugged me: they don't have nurses around in case of an emergency. We checked out another place that had a nurse available 24/7, which made me feel better knowing there'd be someone there if something went wrong.

"Nice Community, But No On-Site Nurse"
This place was nice, very clean, and well taken care of. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. One thing I didn't like was that they don't have a nurse on-site in case of an emergency. We saw another place that had a nurse available 24 hours a day, which made me feel better knowing someone would be there if needed.

"Needed Details"
I chatted with them on the phone to figure out if I should move forward. It seemed like they were too far away and not easy for my family to visit and pick me up.

"Great Community, Needs More Stimulating Activities"
This is a nice place. The rooms are nice and everything is clean and well taken care of. They have some fun activities, but they aren't challenging enough for her. We wish there were more stimulating things for her to do. The staff should help her stay more active. The food is really good and the whole place is clean. We want to see different activities for her. Families should visit and see if this community has what they want.

"Mixed Feelings About the Tour"
I didn't really like the memory care part of this place. It smelled a little bad and looked like the floors weren't cleaned well. The person who showed us around didn't know much and left us alone for a bit. But, the assisted living part looked nice.

"Great care and activities, highly recommend this place"
The staff here are caring, helpful, and fantastic. They have daily activities, and my husband enjoys the morning exercise class. On nice days, they go for walks outside. The head nurse is amazing and takes excellent care of him. The food is tasty, and the place is kept in great shape. I've already told others about this community.

"Caring Staff and Beautiful Community with Room for Improvement"
The staff here is friendly and gets along well with all the residents. We've had a few issues with my mom's health, and sometimes it feels like nobody takes charge to handle things. I've had to keep asking the managers to respond to my concerns. The food has been tasty, and the chef clearly puts effort into it. They offer activities throughout the day, and the activities director has done well. The community looks really nice, and they keep the grounds in good shape.

"Overall Good Experience, But Some Management Communication Issues"
The people who work here are nice to everyone living here. Sometimes, my mom has had health problems, but it feels like nobody takes action without me asking. I've had to talk to the managers a lot to get them to answer my questions. The food is tasty, and the chef seems to care a lot about what they make. They have things to do all day, and the person who plans activities has done a great job. The place is pretty, and they keep it looking nice.

"Friendly Community with a Massive Dining Room!"
This place isn't bad considering the cost. The dining room is huge, and the food seemed okay—it came highly recommended. Unfortunately, they didn't have any ground-floor apartments available. The folks we met during the tour were friendly.

"Feeling Of Discomfort In Aged Community"
This place has been around awhile. I got to see it up close, but honestly, it wasn't a good feeling. It felt gloomy, almost sad and beyond dark. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. However, it was a clean place. I wouldn't really suggest it because it didn't make me feel right.

"Long Wait Times"
These surveys are annoying. My mom’s stay was mostly good, but one night she waited 25 minutes for help after pressing her medallion. That’s not okay. .

"Brookdale: Top Choice Out of Three Facilities"
We visited three assisted living places and decided on Brookdale. The manager gave us a tour after 5 PM on a weekday and had the resident nurse check on my mother right away. Both the manager and the nurse were very kind and made a big difference to us. Change is hard, and my mother needed a lot of help at first to understand what was available and how to use it. We got all the help we needed.

"Decent Assisted Living, But Needs Some Improvements"
Working with this assisted living facility has generally been positive, but there are things they could improve. I've noticed that they seem a bit slow to finish maintenance tasks. Also, the cafe, especially the fridge and microwave, could be a lot cleaner. I was surprised to find the transportation service a bit limited - not every day and only till 2 PM, which isn't very handy. But the staff from wellness, have been really friendly and helpful. It's great to have both assisted living and skilled nursing at the same spot. Therapy is hit-or-miss, some are good, others not so much. It seems like the nurses and therapy team are sometimes not on the same page. But overall, this facility gets 3 out of 5 stars from me.

"Fairly Happy"
I don't have anything specific to say about Emeritus at Camarillo. My loved one has been there for a few months now—about three or four—and so far, they've been fairly happy with the facility.

"Great Choice for Assisted Living!"
My dad has been at Emeritus for 6 weeks, and it took us this long to get used to it. The staff is great and always attentive to our needs. I checked out other assisted living places, but I'm really glad we picked Emeritus. I'd definitely recommend it.

"Negative Experience at Expensive Memory Care Facility"
My grandma spent several months in this memory care facility. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough staff, the meals were really bad, and she caught a bug that was going around from the health center side of the facility. They had to put her in isolation for a week to ten days - something that's really hard for someone with Alzheimer's to understand. We weren't able to reach the lady in charge of memory care, no matter how hard we tried. Their bell system was broken too, so we often had to stand outside for up to 10 minutes. They routinely misplaced her clothes, and with not much help available, she frequently ended up in other people's rooms. All of this for nothing less than $6500 a month. My only advice would be, wherever you decide to place your loved one, keep a close eye on them at all times.

"Great help and activities with only a minor parking issue"
The staff here has been really helpful. Overall, it’s a nice place. The girls are super helpful and there are activities all the time. Everything is nice, and the food is good. All the staff are patient and ready to help. I've only had a parking problem once.

"Great Value and Caring Staff at Emeritus, Camarillo"
I think Emeritus offers the best value for money in this area for assisted living. The place is very clean, and they pay attention to each resident's needs and level of care. The dining room is bright and cheerful, and the outside patios are nice and green thanks to lots of plants.

"Staff Shortage Hinders Care Quality"
The place is pretty clean, no issues there. But taking care of my dad is tricky to rate. He'd probably say it's a three. Seems like they're short on staff. If you're all there mentally, the activities might be alright, but they're not great for folks with disabilities. To get better, they really need to look at how many staff they have. Some of our problems stem from my dad being deaf and blind, and they're not fully equipped for that or have activities for him.

"Informative Presentation; Considering for Skilled Nursing Needs"
I really liked how they presented everything. It was easy to understand and gave me a lot of helpful information about the level of care they offer. I'll definitely think about choosing this place. I might need the skilled nursing section, though.
