"Mixed Experience with The Village at Rancho Solano Assisted Living"
My dad was mistakenly placed in Memory Care for four months. We needed a doctor's approval to move him to Assisted Living. We had lots of issues with his care in Memory Care — showers, laundry, linens, and housekeeping weren't consistent or timely. His care has improved since moving to Assisted Living, and we're mostly satisfied. The main problem now is the dining room: not enough staff and serving is disorganized. Sometimes they miss soup or drinks, serve dessert with dinner, or other mistakes. Overall, I'd recommend The Village at Rancho Solano for Assisted Living, but not for Memory Care.

"Poor Service and Care at Assisted Living Facility"
The meals weren’t good at all, which upset my dad a lot. We also had trouble with them not fixing things fast. It took a whole week before they fixed the hot water in his room. Even after many phone calls to the people who fix things, nothing happened. I had to go there myself and make them fix it because they didn’t seem to hurry. Plus, they got his medicine all mixed up and didn’t get his new prescriptions right.

"Understaffed Assisted Living Facility Fails to Meet Expectations"
The emergency help here is really slow. The cleaning staff didn’t do a great job, but the shared spaces looked nice and clean. The people working there were really nice. They didn’t do what they said they would, like help with baths and respond quickly to fix things. The kitchen wasn’t staffed all the time, so the people who check us in had to prepare food one day. Honestly, I wouldn’t tell other people to move in here. We had to find a different place for our family member.

"Friendly Staff and Well-Kept Facility at The Village"
We chose The Village at Rancho Salona because it is closer to my dad’s wife’s house, so it was convenient. The staff here is very friendly. The place looks nice and clean, although my dad did have his shower get clogged and there was a trip hazard in his room. Both of these issues have been fixed now. Overall, I think it is a good place, and I would recommend it to others.

"A Terrible Experience at Assisted Living Facility: Theft Involved"
My family and I had a really bad experience at this assisted living facility. I'd urge anyone thinking about sending their relatives here to reconsider. If by chance you end up putting your loved one here, I'd say set up a camera in their room and make sure you take any valuable items away from your relative and their room. My relative had stuff stolen from them here. This was a terrible way for them to spend their last days.

"Great Visit to Assisted Living!"
I had a really good time visiting this place. The staff were punctual and answered all my questions well. I liked how open the layout was, and they had lots of cool stuff for the people who live there. In the end, we decided it wasn't the right place for us.

Wow, this place looks amazing and modern! But, there’s a catch: they charge extra for basic things like bathing and dressing. Plus, the nearby school can be nice or annoying. On the bright side, the staff is fantastic.

I left with a delicious pie the chef made and some meat seasoning from the community. Everyone was super nice, and the staff really paid attention to what we needed for my loved one. The community also offers housekeeping and laundry services. The whole place felt warm and friendly. I definitely suggest taking a tour here!

"Dad's Happy New Home at Brookdale"
My 92-year-old dad decided it was time for a change after living alone for 11 years since my mom passed away. He had three requests: to be in Fairfield, near Travis Air Force Base, and have some veteran residents. Brookdale came up in my search, and I knew it from a craft show at the VacaVille Brookdale. He doesn't need extra help from caregivers yet, but I know they give great care from what I saw at VacaVille. I liked Brookdale in Fairfield right away. After our first meeting, Dad knew it was the place for him and told me to write the deposit check (it was the first place he looked at). He was very impressed with the staff, especially Heather. He thinks she walks on water, and so do I. He's been there for a little over three weeks and couldn't be happier. Dad got the room he was first shown, which pleased him a lot. It's a spacious studio apartment on the first floor with a patio overlooking the putting green and near the dining room. My son, who is a golfer, goes to the putting green with him, or Dad watches from his patio. Dad says it's sad he never sees anyone else using it, but it's something he and Zack can enjoy together. As Dad's oldest child and POA, I've been setting up his entire move-in and have been very impressed with the staff and surroundings. The meals are amazing, and the waitress staff is fantastic. They quickly learned that he likes his food hot and what his favorite breakfasts are. They bring him his coffee and then his breakfast without him having to order. They're incredibly friendly. My dad has a great sense of humor and loves to joke with them, and they joke right back. I've eaten quite a few meals with him and have never been disappointed. He usually calls me each day to tell me funny stories from meals. He's met some very nice people during meals. If I had to say one negative thing, it would be the lack of automatic doors in the building, especially in the bathrooms. After eating lunch on his first day, he used the bathroom and tore off skin on his hand because of the heavy doors. Being in a walker, it's hard to open the heavy doors. The staff (Heather) was right there to take care of his injury. Many of my Facebook friends have known my dad forever and always ask about him. They love that he's so happy and always send him messages for me to pass on. One friend was so pleased with my posts she asked me to send her all the info I had. They're looking into it for her father-in-law. Believe it or not, after only three weeks there, he looks better, sleeps better, and is overall really enjoying life.

"Understaffed and Overworked: Brookdale Fairfield's Memory Care Struggles"
Brookdale's memory care section hasn't had a director for months. This affects the quality of care. It's common for caregivers, who directly care for residents, to be underpaid and overworked. This is currently the case at Brookdale Fairfield. The caregivers do their best, but they're short-staffed and overworked. This is evident when you visit. Update: There's a new memory care director, but when we tried to contact him, he was in his office on his cell phone with the door closed. We'll give him a few weeks to see if things improve. If not, we'll relocate our family member. This facility and the elder care industry are both problematic.

"Brookdale Assisted Living Facility Blunders Memory Care"
Sadly, Brookdale's memory care unit has been missing a leader for a long time, and it shows in the poor care. It's not uncommon for the hardworking caregivers, the ones actually helping our elderly loved ones, to be underpaid and overworked, and this is the case at Brookdale Fairfield. The caregivers are doing their best, but there's simply not enough of them, and they're overworked, which is obvious. Visiting can be disheartening... UPDATE>>> A new leader for the memory care unit is now present. But when we attempted to talk to him, he was shut in his office on his cell phone. He probably had something important going on. We'll wait a few weeks to see if things get better, or else our family member will be changing locations. This place is in quite a mess in an already challenging industry...

"Quality Drops at Brookdale: Money Before Care"
Ever since Brookdale grabbed the reins here, things have really tanked. A bunch of the people who've worked here forever are leaving and the place isn't as clean as it used to be. I'm worried because so many people think this place is great, when really, they care more about money than looking after the folks who live here.

"Southern California Assisted Living: Beautiful Grounds, Promising Atmosphere"
I visited this place, so I can't say how good it is for the price. The staff treated us really well. The outdoor area is amazing. I don't have many others like it to compare, but since it's in Southern California, there's a lot to choose from. I bet there are fancier places, but they might be too expensive for me. This place seems like it could be a good option.

"Good Place, Needs Memory Care Director"
Brookdale Fairfield generally appears to be a pretty good place. At this moment though, they don't have a person in charge of their memory care department. The helpers and the medical workers do an awesome job looking after folks who live there. But since there's no director, the activities aren't so great anymore.

"My experience with Emeritus at Rancho Solano has been very positive"
My experience with Emeritus at Rancho Solano has been really good. The staff is amazing and very friendly. They pay close attention to everyone's needs. The food is also great. They have many activities and a shuttle for trips to doctor appointments, shopping, and other activities. They offer luncheons once a week and concerts on Tuesdays and Fridays. There are lots of snacks available between meals. They provide 1-5 levels of care, and we have level 1 care, which costs $750 more, but I think it’s worth it because they keep the apartment clean and do the laundry weekly. I do wish the head nurse would give out all the medications instead of the techs, since there was a mix-up once where she got a double dose. Also, I’ve asked them to check her blood pressure and weight daily, but they won’t do it. That’s something I wish they would start. Additionally, the AC in my loved one’s apartment has been broken for six weeks, and our move-in was delayed by six days due to a mix-up. Despite these issues, I am very happy with the facility.

"Mom is happy, loves food, and making friends"
My mom is so happy to be there. I'm so glad she is. The staff are really kind and engaging. They do respond, but I'm not sure what the response time should be. Knowing their goal response time would be helpful. A move-in checklist would be nice, with tips on what to consider and potential challenges like transferring prescriptions and work orders. It's a lot for someone new who doesn't know what to ask. When we first moved in, we had a few concerns, and they were very willing to help. My mom loves the food. The activities are perfect for her, and she's starting to make friends and get involved. She also loves that the community is next to a golf course with rolling hills, making her feel like she's in the country.

The facility is in good shape for its age. The staff is super friendly. There are lots of indoor activities and field trips to enjoy. It's a big place, which might make it hard for some seniors to find their way around. The studios are bigger than most, and they also offer one-bedroom options.

"Outstanding care staff made my dad's last days comfortable"
My dad lived at Emeritus Rancho Solano for over 10 years. He recently passed away, but the care staff were amazing until the end. They treated him like family and made sure all his daily needs were met. He was a picky eater, so he didn't like the food much, but I thought it was okay. I’m grateful to the whole team for taking such good care of him and making his last days comfortable. From our family to yours, thank you and God bless the staff at Emeritus Rancho Solano.

"Questionable Practices at Assisted Living Facility"
My time dealing with this assisted living facility was not good. Just like the expose on Frontline revealed, they weren't behaving properly. My mom never managed to move in because they wouldn't let her. I found them breaking the same state laws that Frontline showed, trying to admit her without even checking her properly. They weren't truthful about the costs involved. They didn't seem concerned with her health and well-being and were more bothered about handling me. They didn't appreciate that I questioned their actions. The facility was short on staff and they lacked proper training. I wouldn't advise anyone to use this facility.

"Concerns Over Care Response Time, Otherwise Good Facility"
The price is decent, but there's a problem with the service quality. They've set up a system where you use a pendant to call a caregiver – the supposed response time of 8-10 minutes has proven to be a lot longer. This is a big concern for me, especially since my mom relies on oxygen. A 30-minute delay could be life-threatening. I've been trying to convey the gravity of not responding to her calls – she only calls when she genuinely needs assistance. They made some promises during the contract signing that aren't being upheld. I'm giving them a chance to rectify the situation. Already, I've shared my concerns and how it's not looking good due to these life-threatening issues. In other areas, they do decently. The exterior looks good and the food is excellent. If my mom did not require assisted living, it'd be a decent place. Improvement would come with better management and more staff. The only aspect I'd comfortably recommend is without the assisted living component. Aside from that, everything else is okay.

"Satisfactory Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My relative is happy there, it’s the only one I’ve seen, but the staff all seem caring and attentive. I don’t know much about the activities yet, but overall, it’s been positive. The grounds are nice and the surroundings pleasant. I don’t have any concerns; they visited a few places and chose this one due to its location. The food was pretty good. Our loved one has shown a positive change; she now gets dressed for meals and other activities, which is a good sign. She looked really good when we visited.

"Great setting, spacious rooms, and flexible meal options"
They could use more activities since many residents stay in their rooms. The food is good, I’d rate it 4/5. The rooms are very spacious. I absolutely love the setting, with lots of trees and outdoor spots with rocking chairs. The grounds are immaculate. Of all the places I’ve seen or heard of, this is the best value compared to others, unless you want to spend a lot more. The staff is very helpful and keeps the community clean. They offer laundry service and provide 3 meals a day. If you don’t like one of the two main dishes, there’s also a side menu to choose from. You can substitute different things to suit your needs. They also allow pets for an extra cost.

"Pleasing Senior Living Experience with Room for Improvement"
This place feels like a fancy country club. The food's alright. I had beef stew before, which was just okay, but the fish with almonds and steamed asparagus was really good. The place is super clean and really pretty. They gave us a private room for the price of a semi-private one, which was nice. They used to have fun activities like trips to the lake, but not much lately. It'd be great if they kept residents more active and involved. Overall, we're happy with Emeritus at Rancho Solano and would suggest it.
