"Mixed feelings: Good for independent living, lacking in memory care."
My parents could stay together because they had memory care and independent living options. They liked that it was close to stores. But other places with the same price offer better care from more professional and competent staff. I wouldn't suggest it for memory care, but it's still okay for independent living.

"Great Place for Independent Living with Room for Improvement"
Overall, I'm thankful to have found this place with your help. My family member is very happy there and thrilled that she could afford her own room with a kitty! She has made new friends, something she hasn't done in years. We just hope they get a new bus driver and wish they had a pool. The place offers several movie nights, religious gatherings, and fun classes which my loved one enjoys a lot. The food is plentiful and residents love it!

Our experience with Brookdale Garden Grove has been really positive. The staff here genuinely care for the residents and provide them with good services. The staff communicate well with our family. Residents get three meals daily with options to pick from. The community offers bus trips, church services, exercise programs, crafts, and more activities for residents to enjoy.

"Brookdale Garden Grove: Excellent Staff and Value"
The activities director has been sick a lot, so there haven’t been many activities. The food needs improvement. The new director replaced the old one, but the everyday staff is excellent and helpful. My loved one got $1000 off for the first 6 months, which was great. Overall, Brookdale Garden Grove does an awesome job.

"Great Place, Needs Better Food Variety"
We picked Brookdale Garden Grove because it was the cleanest and had the best price. The food was really good at first, but now it's not as good. They serve salad or fish every day at lunch, so I think they should have more choices. Overall, I am very happy with our experience and think it's a good place. I would recommend it to others.

"Highly Recommend for Loved Ones"
I really recommend this place for families looking for a spot for their loved ones. The staff was super helpful and explained everything to me. They have a support group for Alzheimer’s, lots of activities, and a nice dining area. From what I saw, there are many options. The staff takes residents on outings like movies and restaurants. They also have transportation for doctor’s appointments.

"The room is one price, everything else is extra"
I visited this assisted living facility while searching for a place for my loved one. It felt like our time might have been wasted. Initially, they told me the room had a fixed price, but then everything else seemed to come with additional costs. I wish they had been more straightforward from the start. The person who gave me the tour was knowledgeable and nice, though. The facility looked better than some others, but there was a significant price difference.

My husband is doing so well here, and it makes me very happy. He's getting along with others, joining activities, and enjoying himself. He really likes the food too. The staff is super nice and helpful, and the place itself is really nice and clean. I wasn't planning on choosing this place, but they had a special offer, and it was too good to pass up, even though it's farther away than I wanted.

"My Walk-In Visit Experience"
When I visited the community, the staff set up a tour for me even though I was a walk-in. They were very accommodating with their time. The community seemed good, and the staff were friendly from what I saw. However, I noticed the community was located at a busy intersection with lots of noise and lights. Even though the tour guide wasn’t there, I saw enough to decide this wasn’t the right fit.

"Fantastic Place for My Parents!!"
I'm so happy with the experience my parents have had here. I was in a rush to find a place for them, and this facility really helped me out and made things easier. I love their excellent medicine management and organization skills. It's really important that my parents take their medicine on time, and the staff has been great at making sure this happens. My parents say they feel like they're on vacation because of all the amenities, the amazing chef, and the laundry services. Overall, it's an amazing place!

"Poor Value for High Cost Assisted Living Facility"
My mom lived here for a half-decade. When she first moved in, the place was under different management and I think it was much better then. Every new year, every resident's rent goes up by about $200-$250, regardless of anything else. This means that after just two years, you're gonna be dishing out an extra $500 each month on average. That might be fine if you were getting better service or got extra facilities for the increased money, but you're not. The employees are alright, but they aren't great when it comes to keeping rooms spotless or doing laundry. They even lose stuff and act like it's not a big deal. Moreover, the place isn't staffed enough. Only around 6 or 7 workers are there to take care of nearly 120 residents from morning till late afternoon on weekdays. The food is plain bad. What's supposed to be hot often arrives cold or just at room temperature. That's a pretty big letdown considering the hefty price tag of living here. Recently, we moved my mom to another place. Her meals are better there, the care is superior, and the place is cleaner. Plus, she's saving about $275 every month compared to the costs at the previous facility. To make it even better, her rate is fixed for life there. I'd recommend that you explore a lot more places and see what they offer for the money before deciding on this one. It tends to be a lot less appealing once your parent has been there for a while and you know the score. The one silver lining is the residents; they're really nice. But, I would only suggest this place for someone who doesn't need much help and has deep pockets.

"Highly recommend Brookdale Garden Grove for its warm atmosphere"
My sister and I visited many assisted living places before. We knew we had found the right spot for our mom when we saw how happy and welcoming the residents were. Libby and the whole staff were really helpful and friendly. The facility felt cozy, and the warm smiles from everyone made us smile too. The rooms and common areas were nice, and we especially liked the bright, cheerful dining area. Brookdale Garden Grove was one of the last places we visited, and my mom is excited to move in soon. I highly recommend this place to other families. We had my mom at another facility for four years, but it didn’t have the cozy, welcoming feel of Brookdale Garden Grove. We’re very happy with our choice.

"Needs Improvement in Cleanliness and Staff Sensitivity"
Brookdale's doing alright for my husband right now. However, I wish the staff would show more care and patience towards him. More cleanliness is required as well. There are times when we visit him and his room's a mess- I end up having to clean it. This puzzles me because there's dedicated housekeeping staff in the community. It doesn't really feel like a warm, caring environment. I also believe the employees could benefit from some training in showing empathy when dealing with elderly residents.

"Caring Staff and Clean Facility Help Dad Thrive"
The people here were really caring, both to me while I was looking for a place for my dad and to my dad as a resident. "Convenient Location, Decent Care, Communication Improvement Needed"
This place is okay. They help my grandma with everything she needs like getting out of bed and eating with others. She really needs the help since she can't move much on her own right now. But it's kind of annoying that there's no easy way for her to call for help when she needs it. My mom has to stay on top of things. For what we pay, the care is alright. I checked out a bunch of other places, and they could have more staff. My mom chose it because it's close to our house.

"So Happy with Emeritus!"
I am super happy with Emeritus. After checking out a few places, this one was the best fit for my mom. The location is awesome: close to family and major hospitals, which is really comforting. It’s very affordable for everything they offer. The care services are great, it’s very clean, and the staff is amazing. When we visited, they talked directly to my mom, not just to me, which other places didn’t do. They considered her wants, needs, and preferences. It’s pet-friendly, has open courtyards, and big windows, so the atmosphere is really nice. The residents seem genuinely happy, everyone is friendly, and the whole place feels welcoming. The food is very good too. My mom can have tea and a snack in the afternoon, just like she likes. The only issue is the lack of parking. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with Emeritus!

This place was pretty nice. People were helpful, but they couldn't take care of my mom's memory needs. When we moved her in, she was fine in independent living. But suddenly, after just a couple of days, they said she needed memory care. It seemed weird because she'd been doing fine on her own for years.
