"New Director Brings Positive Change to Assisted Living"
I've lived here for 11 years and have seen three different Executive Directors, many changes, and the effects of Covid. It's no surprise that the attitudes and morale of both residents and staff have gone downhill. After several tough years, things are finally getting better with our new Executive Director. She is exciting and innovative, creating a caring and concerned atmosphere. Both residents and staff are responding well to her positive attitude.

"Mixed Experience, But Generally Good Care at Gardens at Northridge"
We moved my loved one to Gardens at Northridge right before they got new owners. There were many changes in staff during that time, which made things less smooth. The process of moving in was okay. They could do better with keeping families informed. We didn’t know when the old boss left or the new one arrived—I found out on my own. But the new boss seems active and involved. The workers here are friendly and pay attention; they know the people they care for. The food looks okay, and the cleaning service is good. Overall, they do a good job here. From what I understand, they are one of the better care options around our area.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living Community"
The community experience has been mostly positive. However, the recent change in ownership and lack of communication with residents and families are concerns.

"Nice Garden, Pricey and Cozy Rooms"
This was our second option. They had a really nice outdoor garden area for the residents, and it's in a good neighborhood. The cost was a bit too high for my friend who was looking, and the rooms seemed a little smaller than expected.

"Great care with room for improvement in food options"
Overall, it has been a good experience. When my mom needed to go to the emergency room, the staff quickly got her an ambulance and took great care of her at the hospital. I’m really pleased with the care she’s received and how the staff followed up after her hospital stay. They’ve done a great job for her. Her only issue is that she doesn’t really like the food and wishes there were more choices and better flavors.

"Decent, but fell short. Good tour, thorough answers."
This place was alright, but not as good as another. The tour was good, they answered all my questions.

"Clean facility and good care, but contact can be tricky"
We haven’t visited the community in a while, but from what we can see on FaceTime, it looks clean. It can be a bit tricky figuring out which staff members to contact, but we feel our loved one is getting good care.

"Poor Hospice Service at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom passed away about 3 months after moving into the facility. She didn't really want to be there, but the staff was nice. However, when hospice care was needed, things fell apart. The facility recommended a poor hospice service, so I had them replaced with my own company. The care at the facility was much worse than what we experienced at home. It was stressful for my family. I had a different experience when my dad passed away 4 years ago, and hospice was excellent.

"Welcoming Staff and Active Community Ensure Comfortable Living Experience"
The staff here is great! They're really nice and always ready to help. The food is good, and they'll make what you want if you ask. There are lots of things to do, and the other people who live here help you figure out how things work and how to get things done.

"Beautiful place with great amenities!"
This is a lovely place, but more beautiful from the front than the back. We need space to walk among trees and grass, which is mostly in the front and not gated. Otherwise, it is a beautiful facility built more like a hotel than a care home. The staff is warm and caring, there is lots of light, the food looks great, and it has all the amenities one would want.

"Dad’s Change of Heart About Assisted Living"
Dad didn’t want to move to an assisted living place after living in his home for 66 years. We suggested he try it for two weeks, and he agreed. At 97, he had a few minor falls, and we were worried about him being alone. After the first week, he was happy and decided to stay. It’s been four weeks now, and he says he’s very happy with his new home and has made several new friends. His personality has changed in a good way. He’s more talkative and engaged when we visit and at family events. The daily activities keep him busy. He loves singing, and the sing-alongs before dinner are a big hit. They even started a chorus since he arrived, and he’s excited about it. He felt very welcomed. The food is great, too!

"Excellent Communication!"
My mom stayed at this community for a short while, and we were happy with the care she received. Whenever my dad and I had concerns, we talked to the case worker, and they addressed things promptly. They paid attention to our needs and took good care of my mom.

"Mixed Feelings on Facility; Great Meals and Activities Offered"
We visited this place, but the rooms were too small. It didn't feel like home. Food was good. They have activities. Families should check it out for their loved ones' care.

"Lovely Community, Small Bedrooms"
The people who showed me and my loved one around were really nice and made us feel at home. The place itself was really nice and had a bunch of cool stuff for the people who live there. My only problem was that the bedrooms were pretty small considering how much it costs.

"Extremely Satisfied with Uncle's Care at Brookdale Northridge"
I'm really happy with the care my uncle gets at Brookdale Northridge. The caregivers all do a great job. They show my uncle lots of love and always answer my questions. The staff is really helpful and quick to respond to any requests or concerns I have. They also keep my uncle active, and even though I don’t like dealing with bills, they handle everything smoothly and make it easy. The most important thing is that my uncle is happy with the care he’s getting.

"Comfortable Transition: Mom Adjusts Well, Clean Facility, Improvements Noted"
My mom is adjusting pretty well here. The staff have been nice, showing her around so she knows where to go. She mostly likes the meals, but they offer other options if she doesn't. The place is really clean, which we appreciate. The staff are working on being quicker when my mom needs help, and it's getting a bit better. Overall, I'd say it's a good place to consider.

"A hard choice made easy!"
My godfather needed to recover in a Skilled Nursing Facility in November 2014. After getting great care there, he moved to the assisted living side of Brookdale Northridge in December 2014. The team at Brookdale made his move smooth and made him feel right at home. Now, almost a year later, he loves living there. He joins in their activities and enjoys his apartment. Saying his move from his big house to his apartment was easy is an understatement! I never thought it would be this easy for him. Thanks to the staff, it was great.

"Absolutely the Best Place Around!"
It was awesome. This is definitely the best place around. It's super clean, and everyone has little buzzers if they need anything. Everyone is really friendly. It's well managed. My mom ate everything they gave her three times a day, plus happy hour and music. It was great. When you walk in, there are cloth tablecloths and napkins, no smells, and a fireplace off to the side. We've used them before and will use them again. They were awesome!!

"Active and Fun Facility Needs Better Communication"
My aunt and uncle stay there. Everyone's nice in the halls, smiling and saying hi. The food servers are friendly too. I wish the staff would talk more with family who live far away. They do tell me if they're sick, but I can't check in because of the distance. It'd be nice if they called sometimes to update on their health. The activities are awesome! My uncle loves them! He likes bingo, table games with friends, reading books, and happy hour with music. They also go on bus trips to casinos, shopping days, and have religious services. Their activities are fantastic!

"The facility is very nice and accommodating."
The place is really nice. I like how it’s away from the road and has a beautiful outdoor area to walk around and hang out. I appreciate what Emeritus offers in both the assisted living section and the memory care facility. Lucia was friendly and super helpful. She mentioned that I could sign up for Emeritus in Eugene, OR, and later transfer to the one in Northridge after the baby is born.

"Place unfamiliarly huge, feels more medical than homely"
I felt like this place was just too big. Even I got lost in here. It felt more like a hospital than a warm, cozy home. It wasn't the right place for my dad.

"Everything Worked Out Perfectly"
I am very happy with Emeritus at Northridge. They go out of their way to help us and meet our needs. We were in a hurry and needed to find a place quickly. The whole staff, from the director to everyone else, is just amazing. They made the move easy and did everything perfectly. It all worked out great. The staff from A Place for Mom was also excellent and very helpful. I am so happy with Emeritus and APFM that I would tell anyone to choose them.

"Satisfactory Assistance with Mom's Care"
My mom stays in skilled nursing, a separate section from assisted living. She's okay there, but she gets confused easily, which can be tough. Sometimes she tells us things, but we have to call the staff to get the full picture. The staff are really nice. He called me several times to keep me updated, and they've been very helpful. No major issues so far, and it's only been a week. I haven't visited yet, but she's there temporarily for rehab after a fall.
