The assisted living facility could use more services and assistance. My grandma often complains that the menu doesn't change much, and the food is bland and dry. They unexpectedly raised my grandma's price by over $500, and I think they should offer more care and check-ins. One helpful tip is to thoroughly discuss all the prices and review the menus and activities to ensure they match your expectations, especially regarding the cost. They misled my grandma about her expected payment, and she ended up paying more without a clear explanation.

"Caring Staff and Happy Residents at Brookdale Oceanside"
My family member lives at Brookdale Oceanside. The staff there are wonderful they're really kind and friendly. They organize lots of activities for the residents and work hard to keep them comfortable and happy. We did have a small issue with communication when we moved in, but everything else has been really easy. This place gives you good value for your money. I think others would like Brookdale Oceanside too.

My dad has lived at Brookdale Oceanside for almost two years. He says it feels like home and he feels safe there. The staff take really good care of him, and they care a lot about making sure everyone is happy. He really likes all the activities they have, especially B-fit.

"Memory Care Disappoints at Brookdale Oceanside"
I didn't like Brookdale Oceanside much. Their memory care unit wasn't good. I can't really say what they could do better. This is my first time with memory care, so I can't compare it. But, I didn't feel good about it. The hospice place also said they wouldn't suggest this place. I only chose Brookdale because it was cheap. They had a price that included everything and it was fair.

"Clean Assisted Living with Mixed Food Reviews"
It’s a super clean place. I’ve never smelled anything bad when I walk in or go around. The food is a bit iffy; it smells good, but some of the folks, including my Mom, think it’s terrible. My cousin and I plan to have lunch and dinner there in May. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful.

Our family visited in person, and the tour was nice and professional. However, the building was older and lacked the space and natural light we wanted.

I wouldn't suggest Brookdale Oceanside to anyone. I was really let down. My loved one's room felt too small. She was with folks who seemed a bit off, and it bothered her a lot. And I don't think the staff really cared for her well.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Oceanside Assisted Living"
We had a really good time at Brookdale Oceanside. It's not super big, so it's not too crowded. The staff to client ratio is pretty fair. They have good ways of giving out medicine. Instead of giving everything all at once in the morning, they spread it out during the day. This allows for more one-on-one time and checking in with the client. My mom enjoys the food, and when I've tried it, it's been good too. They're still recovering from Covid, so they're not doing trips or many activities, but that's not their fault. They plan to do more outdoor activities soon. We checked out a lot of places, and I think Brookdale Oceanside is a good deal. I feel good knowing they're a well-respected company with places all over the US and good ratings

"Great staff, but the atmosphere was too dark for us."
The tour at Brookdale Oceanside was very good, and the staff were wonderful. However, the place felt dark and depressing, so we chose a different Brookdale facility with a better atmosphere.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Brookdale Oceanside"
I didn't like Brookdale Oceanside. They mixed nursing home and assisted living people together. When you walked down the hall, all the doors were open. It felt too much like a hospital, not the cozy atmosphere we wanted. They seemed to splurge on the entryway and lobby, neglecting the residents' rooms and other areas. As we explored more, I felt less comfortable.
