"Caring Staff Creates Welcoming Environment"

The staff is friendly, supportive, and provides good care.

"“Caring Staff and Sensible Food, but Incomplete Facilities”"

The staff takes excellent care of my dad. The food is consistently 4-star quality, with sensible substitutions like Tuna on Rye sandwiches and fries. However, some gym facilities are incomplete. More socializing efforts would be beneficial. Computer and speech activities could help my dad.

I chose this community for its friendly staff, improved service, and disability awareness.

"Great Place with Friendly Staff and Fun Activities"

This place is really close to our family, which made it an easy choice. We think the value is great, especially compared to other places around here. The staff is very friendly, and there are lots of activities. They have a social hour twice a week that our loved one goes to. We haven't eaten there ourselves, but he seems very happy with the food. We would recommend this place to other families.

"Friendly Atmosphere"

Cogir of Rohnert Park was our backup option. The director was great, and the place felt cozy.

"Cogir: A Happy Place for Mom"

My mom moved to Cogir recently, and she's really happy there. The place is nice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I'd suggest Cogir to others.

"Great Value and Engaging Staff; Some Food Consistency Issues"

We picked Cogir of Rohnert Park because it seemed like the best deal around. The staff were really involved with the residents when we visited, and we thought our mom would fit in perfectly here, which she does - she loves it. The apartments are a good size. The food can be hit or miss, which might be because of the pandemic, and the staff aren't always consistent. Some of the food choices haven't been consistent either. I would definitely recommend it to others who are looking.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

I really like the caregivers. The care has been pretty good and consistent. The dining situation is a bit tricky for us vegetarians since only a quarter of the meals are vegetarian. The staff's care is okay, and the facilities are decent. They do offer a variety of activities, like music, exercise, media programs, poker, puzzles, and movies.

"High Costs, Mixed Care"

Our family visited in person, and the location is super close to home, which we loved. They could have provided better care, but the cost was too high.

"Negligence and Broken Promises at Assisted Living Home"

Our family has been let down by this assisted living center. 1) Even though they’d promised to inform us immediately about any medical emergencies, my mom was rushed to the emergency room without a single word to us. The hospital didn't even know who she was, so she might have died without her family around. 2) After my mom passed away, the center agreed to arrange a bus for her friends to attend her funeral. But they failed, with no communication to us to make another plan. So, all of her close friends missed the funeral and were left feeling upset. Same with the family. It's just not acceptable for them to be making such big mistakes. Continue to look around, you can surely find better care for your loved one.

"Lovely Facility"

Wow, this place is really nice! They just remodeled it last year, and the staff is super friendly. But, honestly, I think it might be too big for my mom.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"

This morning, my dad asked me if today was as foggy as yesterday. I replied, "No." He seemed relieved because the staff hadn't shown up yesterday due to the heavy fog. As a result, breakfast wasn't served. They were supposed to have a continental breakfast (which is common on holidays, and I understand that people shouldn't have to work too hard on those days). However, no one had set it up. The early risers rummaged through the dining area and found only cold cereal—no milk, fruit, or pastries. When they inquired about breakfast, they were told that it was "too foggy" for the staff to get there. My dad even mentioned that I had managed to arrive despite the fog. It wasn't the worst fog I've seen, certainly not impenetrable. I moved my dad here to ensure someone would keep an eye on him. Back then, it was Merrill Gardens, then Emeritus, and now Brookdale. Over the past 9 years, the level of care has generally declined. Recently, they underwent a much-needed renovation. They painted the walls in color-blocked maize, sage, and pumpkin—dated but necessary. They also installed new low-pile carpet with a retro Versace-inspired gold and brown braid pattern. All seemed fine until last week when they replaced all the furniture and, over the weekend, swapped out all the art! They spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on unnecessary changes. The old chestnut-colored wooden furniture was replaced with brand-new walnut-colored pieces. The art, which used to be a 2 out of 10, now rates at 3.5 out of 10. It's frustrating to see money wasted, especially since they're increasing rent by 7% this year instead of the usual 6%. Additionally, they currently lack a Registered Nurse to supervise the CNAs due to inadequate pay.

"Subpar Service and Wasted Resources at Assisted Living Facility"

Dad was wondering if the weather wasn't as foggy as yesterday. When I confirmed it wasn't, he was relieved, saying that yesterday's fog had allegedly kept the staff from showing up for morning duties. He reported missing breakfast as a result. He explained a continental breakfast is typically provided on holidays, but no one was there to prepare it. He and other early-birds managed to find some cold cereal, but no milk or other food items were available. Disappointed, they had to make do with plainly cold cereal. When he enquired about breakfast, he was simply told the fog was too thick for any staff to arrive. My father sarcastically remarked that I had managed to get there despite the fog, which was bad, but not "undriveable." My primary aim of moving dad here was to ensure someone was looking out for him. This facility, which changed hands from Merrill Gardens to Emeritus and now Brookdale, has shown a decline in quality. Overseas renovation work has been underway recently, with walls painted in out-of-date maize, sage and pumpkin shades and a new low-pile carpet installed with a retro, gold and brown Versace-inspired pattern. This past week, they replaced all the furniture and art – a seemingly wasteful and unnecessary purchase touching hundreds of thousands of dollars. The rent has been hiked by 7%, and yet they lack a Registered Nurse and sufficient housekeeping and wait staff. They've even reduced receptionist hours. So wasteful! On today's visit to dad's, I stumbled upon an elderly lady near the elevator, visibly perplexed about her location. She asked how to reach the first floor, to which I reminded her that we were already on the first and walked her to the vacant lobby and dining area. When I apprised an employee of her confusion, she insensitively directed the disoriented lady back to her room without physical assistance. After all these residents are paying $3000 monthly, I figured staff would be able to spare 5 minutes to help someone. Their staffing issues perhaps stem from low wages, but what's the priority here?

"Wonderful Care and Kind Staff"

This place is amazing. I’m really happy with how they take care of my mom. It’s super clean and the staff are so kind and patient. The activities are great too. I would recommend this place to everyone.

"Brookdale OK, But Service Lags. Caregiver Banned"

I initially had a good impression of Brookdale Rohnert Park, but my feelings have changed. We've needed help with some issues, but even after asking three weeks ago, we're still waiting. Also, last week, they threw out my mom's caregiver. The reason? She called 911 and took a photo after a worker fell. It turns out this got her banned from the building. The director at Brookdale claims it's the decision of the hired help. It's a confusing situation and quite upsetting to my mom and me. Oh, and they leave keys to apartments just lying around at the front desk. That’s not cool. Hopefully, they'll fix these issues. Otherwise, Brookdale is just okay.

"Great activities, friendly staff, clean, and tasty food. Highly recommend!"

This place has lots of activities. I really enjoy the different fitness classes and the pool. The staff are very friendly and always remember my name. My room gets plenty of natural light, which I love. The food is fresh, healthy, and tastes great. Everything is always clean, and I definitely recommend this place.

"Costly but nice. Spacious apartment. Helpful staff."

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Rohnert Park Assisted Living"

Overall, my family member and I are happy with Brookdale Rohnert Park. The staff and apartments are great, and the place is always clean and tidy. However, the food quality is a big issue. A lot of it lacks flavor and isn't very appetizing. It's not that the food itself is bad, but rather the way it's prepared and the limited variety offered.

"Everything is great for Mom—so far, all good!"

My mom is really happy here, and everything is going well. So far, it's been great.

"Growing Frustration with Brookdale Assisted Living"

We've been living here for over a year now. Since being here, we've seen three different owners manage the place, each one worse than the previous. The latest owners - Brookdale - have significantly lowered the variety, quality, and size of the food portions. Plus, there's still no working exercise room. The Brookdale employees who replaced the original Merrill Gardens staff show little to no care in their work. A number of the original staff have left out of frustration. We would leave too, but this place is close to our kids. Otherwise, we'd definitely look for another assisted living facility.

"Brookdale: Eden Discovered"

Finally, I've stopped battling windmills and am happily retiring. Brookdale exceeded my expectations. Unlike other similar places I visited, it didn't feel like incarceration. I'm thrilled with my decision.

"Professional and caring like a top hotel"

This place is very professional and sharp, like a Marriott hotel. Everyone is well-trained, friendly, and outgoing. When my mom cut her eye, they quickly took care of her.

"Impressed by the Assisted Living Facility"

I visited the assisted living place with my sisters. I liked it a lot. We saw the whole facility, and it seemed like the best option we explored. They offer independent and assisted living, but not specialized care. They have plenty of fun activities, some of which I'd enjoy. On the day I visited, they were returning from a field trip, and they even had an ice cream social. The location is convenient—it's only about five minutes away from my sister's place in Walnut Park.

"Really liked it and plan to move in fall"

I really liked it and will probably sign up. Today, my second daughter is coming with me to check out the available apartment. I plan to sign up and move in the fall.

"Cheaper Facility Has Uncleanliness and Management Issues"

Although this assisted living facility was cheaper compared to Oakmont, it wasn't as tidy as I would have liked, and its walls desperately needed a new coat of paint. The room I got to take a look at was quite roomy because they'd made it a two-bedroom unit from two one-bedroom ones. They had taken down the wall dividing them and connected the two balconies. There were also updates to the countertops, cabinets, and bathrooms. I initially thought that this was the type of living arrangement my parents could be moving into, assuming they made it on the waiting list. But another one of the sales representatives informed me the next day that no more rooms like that were available. The available ones still had the dividing wall and separated balconies. So, I was given some mixed messages. I honestly got the vibe that there were some organizational problems going on. I didn't have a good instinctual feeling about the place.

"Mom's new adventure with caring staff and great activities!"

Independent living here means lots of caring staff support. They made the move easy and welcoming. There are many activities to keep both the mind and body engaged. Meals are tasty and healthy, served in a relaxed setting. There are outdoor activities where she can meet people her own age and try new things. She feels she’s not alone, surrounded by others aged 90-101.

"Mom's new home is friendly, beautiful, and perfect for her"

The moment my mom entered Emeritus, it felt like home. After living there for a month, she's happier and more lively than before. The staff is friendly and helpful, the apartment is beautiful, and as a vegetarian, she always has tasty meal choices. I highly recommend Emeritus!

"Friendly Atmosphere with Transitional Concerns"

This place is really nice and the people are pretty friendly. It used to be called Merril Gardens but now it's Emeritus. Some folks are worried about changes, especially with the food. The grounds are way better than other places we checked out, plus they've got activities. They even offer to bring meals up for free nine times a month if needed. They've got a swimming pool, which is cool. And they take residents out for different trips. My relative loves the music they bring in. Sometimes, though, it takes a few reminders to get things fixed around here. But there are plenty of spots to chill outside, with chairs, swings, and tables. They've got a beautiful rose garden with a fountain and just lovely grounds. Plus, each room has a nice private deck outside.

"Father’s Move to Emeritus at Rohnert Park: A Success!"

A Place for Mom was super helpful in finding a retirement community that fit my dad’s needs, was affordable, and close to where I live. Moving him from Ohio to California was a big deal, and I knew I had to find a place that met at least the same standards as his old one. Emeritus at Rohnert Park is even better than what he had in Ohio! They have Anytime Dining where you can ask for food not on the menu if the kitchen has it, they really care about the residents’ health and happiness, and they have a pool and jacuzzi open all year. Plus, there are lots of activities every day. From the first visit to his move-in and now, my dad has been super happy! His mood has improved a lot, and he’s much more joyful than he was in Ohio. I highly recommend Emeritus at Rohnert Park and A Place for Mom for helping me find this awesome community.

"Excellent tour, reasonable price, care included, highly considering."

Robert Coe gave an excellent tour. The facility covers my father’s basic needs, and the price is fair. There isn’t much of a waiting list right now. Having assisted living care in the same building is a big plus. We’re definitely thinking about this place for my father.

"Full kitchens and anytime dining in pet-friendly, rent-by-month facility"

This assisted living space has a full kitchen in each apartment and a dining facility that is open at any hour. You can rent monthly - no need to make a huge up-front payment. The rent includes utilities and pets are welcomed.

The director gave us a tour. We really liked the outdoor space since my mom enjoys walking. The open dining area is also very appealing.
