"Assisted Living Facility Unfair to Service Dog Owners"
I recently stayed for a month at Brookdale San Jose while my house was under repair. I just wanted to let anyone who is thinking about living here know, especially if you have a service dog, that it may not be the best choice. Two other people living there made it really tough for me and my service dog. Even worse, the person in charge bothered me about it and didn't even have a word with those two, even though I obeyed all the rules and they kept breaking big ones that were in the rules book we all got. It's a shame, because the other employees and people living there were really nice and helpful. But it just got to be too much, so I ended up leaving and coming back to my house, even though the work on it wasn't finished yet.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
We chose this community because they had availability, and it's close to me. They acted quickly to get my friend into the facility. However, they need to improve their medication tracking. Also, adding more staff would be beneficial, although they are doing their best. I recommend it to other families. Remember to keep track of things and advocate for your loved one.

"Good Staff, But Understaffed Assisted Living"
We chose this place because it looked and felt nice. The person who sold us on it was awesome, and the staff at the front desk were top-notch. However, the care wasn’t as good as they said it would be. They didn’t have enough workers, so they couldn’t give us what we were hoping for. There’s a big problem with not having enough staff. My family member often had to wait a long time on weekends for someone to come help them. The boss of the assisted living is pretty new. It takes a long time to get paperwork done, and they’re slow to answer us, maybe because they’re short on staff. The people here are really kind, but they need more workers. I wouldn’t tell others to pick this place for assisted living.

"Mixed experience with move-in process and staff responsiveness."
The move-in process wasn't smooth. They gave me extra paperwork after I paid, which delayed Dad's move. We had to do tests they didn't mention before. So, I paid for days he wasn't even there. The staff was friendly but seemed short-handed. I asked for a lift assistance device for Dad, which they promised to get. I had to remind them multiple times. One day, I got frustrated and asked again. They finally brought it, but I wondered why it took so long. The food was good, and the place was clean, including Dad's room. We brought Dad's medicine with a doctor's note, but they took weeks to start giving it to him, even after I asked multiple times. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this place.

"Pretty Place, Service Varies, Affected by Covid"
When we looked at the cost, it seemed okay, but they didn’t have enough staff. The building is really pretty, especially the garden area. Our family member has a balcony with a view of it. The staff on their floor are super nice and always talk to her. The food started off tasty and healthy, but when Covid hit and they had to stay in their rooms, the food wasn’t as good. Also, cleaning wasn’t done the same way all the time.

"Friendly Atmosphere, Needs More Staff and Oversight"
Brookdale San Jose is really friendly. The people who live there and the staff are all nice. It's a pleasant place. Like all places where people need care, they don't always have enough caregivers. Sometimes there just aren't enough staff. But they're working on fixing that. It would be good to have more nurses overseeing things. Overall, I would tell other people to think about going to Brookdale.

I wasn’t happy with this place. It didn’t feel right to me, and I was pretty sure it wasn’t the best fit.
