"Caring Assisted Living for Mom"
They really looked after my mom well. I chose this place because the hospital insisted on a full-time nursing facility. I'd recommend it.

Certainly! Here's a revised version of the review in 8th-grade level American English: "The interview went well, but after my sister moved in, communication fell apart. They promised a facility tour, but no one showed up. Housekeeping was absent for two weeks until I found them in the hallway. Her room's heat was a problem for over a month, and they couldn't fix it. Despite paying for two-person assistance, she mostly gets help from just one person. The food portions are small, and when she asked for more, they said "no." Her personal care bill was $1700 more than expected. We're frustrated by the lack of explanation. Although she likes the facility overall, we're concerned about these issues. Beware of moving in on weekends!" (#search_web(query="assisted living facilities review")) And here's a concise headline for the review: **"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"**¹. "Mixed Quality and Communication at Assisted Living"
Some of the staff are pretty good, like a 4 out of 5, but others are more like a 2. The care services are a mix—some good, some not so much. We recently got a new person for activities, so it’s too early to judge. However, finding the activity spots is tough, and they don’t communicate well about upcoming events.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short, Considering Alternatives"
My mom moved in four months back. At first, everything seemed okay. But lately, it's been going downhill. Simple problems like a broken toilet seat and useless vertical blinds haven't been fixed despite asking many times. There were even floods and a fire. And now, they're raising the prices to cover it. Some staff who've been there a while have left. Plus, they stopped providing transportation for shopping or groceries. The food options in the dining room got limited. Mom's eager to leave, and honestly, I don't blame her. We're checking out other places. It's just really disappointing.

"Assisted Living Resident Enjoys Food, Seeks More Weekend Activities"
I’ve lived here for 13 years. I like it, but weekends are boring. Lately, the food’s been great. The chef plans to add Indonesian dishes for some spice, which is exciting.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Quality Staff"
It's a nice place to live with really friendly people. There's a bit of tension among the residents, but the staff members are genuinely good. I used to run my own business, so I recognize quality employees when I see them.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"
I've been living here for about 2 years. Some things are good, and some aren't so good. Some of the staff are nice, but others I'm not too fond of. I guess that's how it is anywhere you go. The food is good for you, but it could be more interesting with more choices.

"Friendly Tour and Great Care Options"
We enjoyed the tour and found the staff to be nice and friendly. We wanted to make sure they were trained to meet my dad's needs. The community is clean and well-kept. We recommend other families visit to see if they can help with their loved one's needs.

"Not As Welcoming And A Bit Costly For Us"
The visit was alright. The place was neat and tidy. But the workers weren't as warm or inviting as some other places we'd been to. They did help us by answering all our queries. However, the cost was a bit too high for what we need.

"Mixed Impressions During My Community Visit"
I had lunch at this community during our tour, and the food was good. The people I met were nice. However, when I looked at the apartment, it seemed dark and didn't impress me as much as the community I ultimately chose.

"Fell in Love at First Visit!"
My mom absolutely loves this place! We had tours with a few other communities, but when we visited Brookdale San Marcos, she fell in love right away. They have lots of activities and social events. Every time I pick her up, she says she needs to get back because there's always something fun happening! The food is amazing! They have a menu with lots of choices, and if you don't like what's on it, they'll make you something special. There's always someone in the dining room, just like a restaurant. When I move into a senior community, I want it to be just like this!

"Fantastic Place for Dad!"
My dad loves this place! He really enjoys the social activities and trips. They have 3 vans that take residents wherever they need to go. He likes the independent living vibe, where he can get his newspaper and free coffee. Some residents have dogs, and my dad loves being around them. The dining room is open from 6:30am to 6pm, and the food is great. Our family gets coupons to eat with him without extra cost. They even deliver food to the rooms if someone isn't feeling well. My dad's room is comfy, with an open layout between the bedroom and living room, plus a full kitchen.

"Frustrations with Billing and Other Concerns"
I'm currently living here. There's a general mood of dissatisfaction here because the bills are consistently wrong every month. The staff isn't cooperating as I'm trying to make payments while waiting for my daughter's house to sell so I can fully pay them. They're quite inflexible. Receiving a particular letter really got to me. Also, the food portions keep shrinking. On a positive note, the administration does well and offers a lot of activities to keep us moving. However, I think the billing department could be more supportive.

This is an excellent community with great care from all the staff. When my mom was there, they took amazing care of her and made sure she was always comfortable. They offered activities for her for a limited time. The food was home-cooked with a great variety of choices for her to enjoy. We have recommended this community to another family who is there now.

"Promising Start, But Room for Improvement"
So far, things seem okay. The place is clean, and my mom is still adjusting to the food. Sometimes she cooks her own meals since her room has a small kitchen. But there isn't much for her to do. She's attended some lectures and talks at nearby colleges and even offered to teach a class. However, she wishes the other residents were more active.

I highly recommend Brookdale San Marcos.

They worked with us to fit our needs and budget. They made changes quickly, like adding a fence around the patio for our dog. Many people there have dogs, and they’re very accommodating. They helped a lot during the move-in process. The pool is nice and well-kept. My parents love the food and look forward to every meal. Overall, it’s been a great experience.

"Cozy and Welcoming Assisted Living Facility with Fantastic Amenities"
I really liked this place a lot. The entrance is big, there's a nice outdoor area with a patio and a pool, and there are plenty of shady spots to sit. The apartments are nice and bright, and they have kitchens with everything you need, which my dad and stepmom really liked. There were a bunch of people up and about, and they all seemed friendly. The dining room was really big, and the food was good, with lots of different choices.

"Busy facility lacking memory care, with attentive staff."
This place has been around for 26 years and has a bunch of apartments, like 670 of them, with 209 different floor plans. You don't have to sign a long lease, you can just pay each month. They have a nurse around all the time, and they even let you bring your pets. They give you linens, and they give you this necklace thing with GPS in case you get lost. They have something called Connected Living, which is probably some kind of computer stuff they offer. They used to have a pool, and they have a covered patio where they do stuff outside and have parties. They really focus on food, and they make their own special sauces and spices. But it seems like they're always really busy and might not have enough people working there. The boss guy called me back the day after I visited, but when I called him back, he wasn't there, and he never called me back again.

"Beautiful, clean property with friendly staff and minor clothing issue"
The property is beautiful, clean, and in great shape. Everyone, from the employees to the residents, is very friendly and polite. The staff knows each resident by name and always tries to help with whatever is needed. My senior lives here. My only complaint is that the caregivers don’t help with hanging up or neatly placing her clothes after dressing or undressing.

"Great Cultural Outings and Daily Activities"
I've checked out a lot of places, and while this one costs a bit more, it's worth it because you get more for your money. I love the size of this place; it's so big that she has lots of options to find friends. She was at a smaller place before, and if she didn't find a friend, that was it. What I really like, and I've seen quite a few places, is that they have a bus service every day. Most places I looked at only had occasional outings. At Brookdale, you can go shopping, take a scenic drive once a week, and go to cultural events like plays and museums. You can stay pretty active, and they really encourage you to join in. I was a bit hesitant about the cost for medication, but now that my mom is under regular care from a physician, she needs more help than I thought, and they're handling it well. I'm very happy with Brookdale and plan to keep her there as long as possible.
