"Disappointed with Brookdale: Money over Residents"
Brookdale only cares about money, not residents. Caregivers are okay but need more staff and training. Staff pay isn't enough for the quality of care promised. Chose for affordability and location, but regret choosing Brookdale.

"Great Place with Fun Activities and Caring Staff"
The place feels nice and the activities are fun. We were super lucky to find this place for my 88-year-old uncle when he had nowhere else to go. I highly recommend it.

"Compassionate Care at Brookdale Assisted Living"
Earlier this year, my mom passed away on May 21. She lived at Brookdale from [date removed]. The care she received during her stay was really good, and they helped us switch to hospice care, which made her last days easier. Thanks a lot for your referrals and assistance.

"Unwelcoming Atmosphere and Subpar Care at Assisted Living Home"
Beyond the reception, the atmosphere isn't welcoming and it seems disconnected. Affordable independent living seems to just profit them more. I'm not happy with the care given or the living conditions. The building always reeks.

"Costly extras for services beyond budget at Brookdale facility."
The place is okay. At Brookdale, you pick what you want for help, but for my dad, we need a bunch of things and paying extra for them puts us over what we can afford.

"Decent place, but dad's needs make it a bit pricey"
This place is okay. Brookdale offers services in an a la carte style. My dad needs a lot of these services and when we add them to the basic cost, it gets a touch over our budget.

"A Good Place to Live with Friendly Staff & Good Services"
This place is totally okay; it's pretty comfortable and relaxing. All the people who work here are really nice and they help out a lot. I love spending time sitting and reading my books. When they have activities, sometimes I participate. Each day, I get three meals that taste great and I can choose what I want. They've got a shuttle that can take me to doctors' appointments or to buy groceries, if I need it. I live in a one-bedroom apartment that gets cleaned once a week, and they also take care of my laundry. Plus, we've got a lovely outdoor spot where we can spend time. I won't hesitate to recommend this place to others.

"Caring staff, clean facility, and engaged residents"
Great place. Residents were busy with activities. The staff understood residents' worries. I saw a staff member patiently explaining an upcoming appointment to a worried resident. The dining room was clean and bright.

"Great care and value for mom's money."
This place is great for my mom. The caregivers are friendly and pay good attention to her. They try to get her involved in daily activities. She enjoys the dining room and socializing, and the food is decent with options for variety. The place is clean, and I think my mom is getting good value for her money. I would recommend this to my friends.

"The price is right for what you get."
When I started looking at facilities for my dad, I spoke with Rex at A Place for Mom, and he was wonderful. I saw him more like a counselor than a salesperson. He sent me a few places to tour, and one of them was Brookdale San Pablo. It was a typical assisted living facility—an older building that had recently updated some of the rooms. However, the rest of the building and décor need an update, not just the rooms. If they had a room ready for my father, I would have chosen this facility. Unfortunately, the only available rooms at the time were the older ones. When I asked about a timeline for a new room, it didn’t align with my schedule. Despite this, I didn’t have any major issues with the facility. The price point is right for what you get here. I would recommend this facility.

"Great Staff and Facilities, Plus Plenty of Food Choices"
The staff is friendly and always willing to help. The grounds are kept in great shape, and there's plenty of free parking for visitors. The food is plentiful with lots of options at every meal, plus there are healthy snacks available in the lobby. Mail delivery is reliable, and, the Executive Director, is always available and helpful.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
Rocky start. My sister's medication setup took too long. She's struggled with dining options due to being diabetic and vegetarian. Staff are understaffed, harried, and sometimes rude. Delayed organization and memory loss issues. Slow problem resolution by the director. Friendly housekeeping and attendants, but many confused residents.

"Issues With Start at Assisted Facility, Hope for Improvement"
Rough beginning. My sister requires medication and setting up this routine has taken a long time due to issues with both doctors and nurses. She moved in on July 29 but has had to spend her nights with me, her sibling. All-day dining and alternate menu options have been tricky for her - she's a vegetarian with diabetes, and the dining staff don't seem very eager to work around her dietary requirements. The dining room appears understaffed, leading to stressed and occasionally rude staff. Two shelving units necessary for room organization haven't been put together yet. She's also experiencing some pretty bad short-term memory issues and confusion, which we're hopeful are temporary. The Director seems open to hearing about problems and fixing them, but changes take a long time. The housekeeping team and attendants are kind, helpful and many of the residents are friendly. Unfortunately, though, there seems to be a fair number of confused residents as well.

"My mom enjoys it, but cleaning and trash need improvement."
The place is really good for the price and services. My mom enjoys it there. The cleaning could improve, as they sometimes forget toilet paper and don’t always take out the trash. The staff is very friendly, polite, and helpful. My mom thinks the food is okay. She’s just getting comfortable before joining the activities. Transportation is available, but I usually take her myself.

"Emeritus Excels"
I almost didn't consider Emeritus when I was searching for a place for my mom, but a family friend recommended it, so I decided to check it out. I was amazed. My mom urgently needed an assisted living home, and as a guy, I honestly had no clue what I was doing. However, Emeritus turned out to be a lifesaver. My mom stayed there for just a year, and she felt safe, warm, and healthy. Her condition even improved significantly during that time, thanks to Emeritus. Their menu and medication plan are excellent, and I had complete confidence in the staff. Nisha, the head nurse, runs a fantastic team and was always helpful. Now, as my dad might need a place soon, I'll definitely consider Emeritus and Nisha first."

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The place stays pretty clean, but there are some problems. My loved one isn't always kept clean, and only one caregiver seems willing to help. Sometimes when we needed help right away, it wasn't there. I don't think they're doing much to help with exercise, even though we mentioned my loved one likes to walk. I do like the people there, especially he who goes above and beyond to help. The activities are good, but the food isn't great. Overall, it's okay, but could be better.

"Upsides & Downsides of the Assisted Living Facility"
We've had a mix of awesome times and not-so-great moments. On the upside, lots of the employees are very kind and truly care for my parents. The apartments are pretty spacious considering the cost. The dining room serves yummy food. They offer lots of social events each day, mostly organized by the residents, adding to a strong sense of community. It's an inexpensive and neat place to live. On the downside, the care can often be disorganized and unreliable. You have to really push to receive some of the services you're supposed to get. They never explained to us what we were paying for. We had to request our monthly bill twice, and even then it wasn't correct. But, when the power went out, the care staff was on point in assisting my dad with his oxygen (he uses a concentrator). The Activities Director is effective at getting people involved. When I addressed my concerns with the Executive Director, he tackled all our issues head-on.

"Decent Value, Downgrade in Meal Service, Friendly Atmosphere"
This place is definitely worth the cost. The last company that provided meals was pretty good, but not so much anymore. The food now is often not hot and you might have to wait a bit before it's served. Their transportation only runs for a short time, so it's not all that helpful. But, the people are nice and the activities are fun. The housekeeping and laundry services do their job well. As for the care services, I can't say anything because my friend doesn't need it.

"Perfect for Seniors, Great Location, and Impressive Service!"
Absolutely! The design here is perfect for seniors. My mother was at high risk for falls when she arrived, but she's improved a lot since coming here. The flat layout is great and has really helped her, even though she might not notice it herself. The location is ideal, with easy access to public transport, so she has regular visitors. Everyone who visits says, "What a nice place!" Although it’s large, they manage to provide good individual service. There have been a few minor issues, but overall, it’s been excellent. I’m impressed with how the executive director helped me make everything financially manageable. They don’t have memory care, which is a shame because I would have brought my dad here too. I’m so frustrated I didn’t find this place sooner!

"Not Our Ideal Neighborhood"
That place wasn't quite what Mom wanted. The building was okay, but it was in an old part of town near a casino, which wasn't very pleasant. The facility itself wasn't bad, but Mom wasn't a fan of the area.

"Top-Notch Assisted Living with Great Staff and Services"
My mother-in-law lives here, and everything from the food and her lovely apartment to the super friendly staff is outstanding. Shirley at the front desk and Neal, the manager, were especially welcoming. A big plus is that they have Friday services because one of the residents is a Catholic priest. This place is top-notch for board-and-care homes. My husband had a question about his mom’s laundry, and even the laundry staff showed they really care about their work.

"Neal Shines in Otherwise Underwhelming Assisted Living Facility"
Neal rocked! The only good part about this place, sadly. Without Neal and the space of a two-bedroom alternative, we wouldn't have given this place a second thought. There was a weird smell at the door, and it's clear this place is for elderly folks with walkers and wheelchairs. The food wasn't great. Back yard was cool, though. It's right next to a fire station, but Neal promised it's not too noisy. They tried to show hospitality, but having lunch here to impress future residents won't work.

"Facility Not the Right Fit for Mom’s Needs"
We’re still on the hunt for the right place. Having a police station next door and a casino right across the street didn’t feel right to us. Plus, it seemed like most people living there couldn’t walk without wheelchairs. My mom uses a walker and she’s doing pretty well, so she didn’t feel like she fit in with the others there. She also noticed that the folks there stuck to their own groups and didn’t really talk to each other much. The building itself was okay, but there were just too many other issues that didn’t work for us.

"Cozy courtyard view, friendly staff, lacks egg options for breakfast."
This place on the second floor has a nice view of the courtyard. They offer transportation within 15 miles, and the community fee is equal to one month's rent. Unfortunately, they don't have eggs to order in the morning. However, they're willing to do a medical assessment to figure out the type of care you need, and they even referred me to a VA provider. Overall, the staff here seem nice.
