"Long-Term Stay with a Personal Touch"

I stayed here for 7 years as a parent, and when it was my turn, I spent 11 years.

"Assisted Living Review: Improved Management, Concerns Remain"

I've lived here for over two years and have seen three executive directors come and go. The current one is the best so far. She listens to us and sets aside an hour each day to meet with residents. She cares about our needs and has been hiring staff who are friendly and skilled, bringing new expertise to the community. However, there's a significant issue with replacing a housekeeper. I believe our director will find the right person for the job soon. There are also concerns about safety and security here. The rent goes up a lot each year, which is making some long-time residents leave. I think it would be nice if Cogir gave awards to residents who have been here for 10 or 15 years, or even to those who reach 100 years old, to show appreciation for their loyalty. Overall, things are improving under the new director, but there are still areas that need attention.

"Spacious Apartments and Activities, But Needs Updates"

This assisted living facility is older and could use some updates and maintenance. The apartments are big, and many come with patios or balconies. There are plenty of activities to do, and the outdoor areas are pleasant for spending time in. A family member decided to live there, so it must have something good going for it.

"Dishonest Sales and Insufficient Staffing at Assisted Living Facility"

Always ask for all promises and deals to be written down, because they won't follow through with it. They weren't honest about when the dining room was open or about arranging transportation. A lot of times, the staff would say things just to get you to move in. There aren't enough workers. Loads of them can't handle or give advice during emergency situations that require call alarms. The chef in the dining room is really unpleasant. You can't use the dining room during the hours the sales team tells you.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility Fails to Meet Expectations"

Not recommended. The place is okay in terms of safety, comfort, and temporary satisfaction. However, they seriously lack medication safety; there have been numerous errors. They also overcharge for services not rendered. Their assessment process is flawed; we received a bill without any results. It took us four months of fighting to get it partially corrected. Communication with them is practically nonexistent. The LVN neglects her duties, and the administration seems indifferent.

"Reliable Services for Independent Living Residents at Cogir"

Cogir has been good and meets my loved one's needs. He lives independently, so he doesn't receive assisted living care. They keep their promises. The transportation van runs only twice daily on specific days for medical appointments. Initially, we weren't informed about this, but planning appointments during those times should suffice.

"Pleasant in-person tour with family."

Our family enjoyed the in-person tour; it was pleasant.

"Mixed Promises at Assisted Living"

My sister really enjoys it, but they make big promises to get you to sign up. Unfortunately, they don’t always keep those promises after you move in. Even though my sister likes it, I’m concerned about the cost.

"Mixed Feelings: Decent Care, Lack of Follow-Up at Cogir"

Cogir of Vallejo Hills seems okay, but you'll need to advocate for your loved one. I felt like I had to constantly watch over my mom during her short stay, even though I expected the staff to provide adequate care. They couldn't accommodate her simple needs like a specialized diet or help with lotion, and she ended up eating the same meal for two weeks straight. Despite being told the chef could assist, it seems that's only for long-term residents. On the first day, they had to call 911 without clear instructions, and there was no effort from Cogir to ensure her safe return afterward. I had to rely on my own resources to get her back home. While the facility itself was nice, there wasn't much follow-up after her stay, which was disappointing given the high cost. It seems like the management changes may have affected their level of care. The location was convenient, and the everyday staff were caring, but the turnover and lack of ownership were concerning.

"Friendly Staff, Mixed Meals, Limited Follow-Up"

We used this place for short-term care. The staff called 911 for my loved one, who couldn’t return after going to the hospital. The meals didn’t match her diet, so I had to stock her fridge. They’re nice and maintain the place well. But for respite care, it’s not the best.

"Wonderful place, but too pricey for us"

Great place. The staff is super friendly. Sadly, it’s too expensive for us.

"Cornerstone: Nice, Still Searching"

We went to Cornerstone and thought it was really nice. I'm still searching for a second bathroom, so I'll keep looking.

"“Mom Adjusting to New Home”"

This place is safe, clean, and friendly. They take pretty good care of residents. My mom’s room is near the dining area. They clean it once a week and change her bedding twice a week. They also give her medication. When someone checks on her, they do a thorough 5-point check. Unfortunately, my mom prefers to eat in her room and doesn’t engage with others. I wish the staff would make more effort to involve her or come up with a plan to encourage her to join everyone in the dining room. Overall, I’d recommend this community for active seniors.

"Lots of activities like car shows and Wii bowling"

I’m really happy that my dad chose this place to live. When we first visited, they had a car show happening. The cars were from the '60s or even older, and they served popcorn, BBQ, and hotdogs. Besides that, they offer other activities like trips to certain places, poker, card games, and even Wii bowling. Right now, the community is being renovated. The only downside is that they haven’t painted the baseboards or replaced the rug in the main area. Overall, I’m thrilled that my dad is content here, and I’d recommend this facility.

"Happy with our choice"

The community is great, and we're happy with our choice. The advisor from A Place For Mom was very helpful. Thanks to him!

"Quality Care and Enjoyable Activities at Clean, Well-Maintained Community"

My mom gets good care here. The people who work here are friendly, but she needs some special attention right now. They have fun stuff to do, and she really likes going on trips with them. The place is always clean and neat. We think other people looking for good care should check this place out.

"Cozy, Clean, and Caring: A Wonderful Living Experience"

The folks at Brookdale are super helpful and always answer my questions. The food here is really tasty. They make sure everything stays neat and tidy, and the outside area is really nice too. Plus, they have lots of fun things to do. Overall, I think it's a great place to live so far!

"Staff is great, but food needs improvement"

Some of the apartments need updating. I really like the staff—they're great. However, the cafeteria food isn’t very good and needs improvement.

"Amazing Food and Friendly Atmosphere"

I wish there was a food category because it would get a 5. The meals are healthy and really good, which is huge. I can’t say enough good things. It’s bright and has a positive atmosphere. The staff and most residents are friendly.

"Mixed Review: Great Facility with Maintenance Concerns"

This place is really good overall. It's super clean, and most of the staff are nice. But, they need to fix some safety stuff, and their maintenance team isn't the best. Still, they offer lots of fun things to do, and the care services are pretty decent.

"Exceeded Our Expectations, Worth the Distance"

They hold a Catholic mass every Sunday, which is really important for my mom. I do wish it was a bit closer to where we live, but the ones that were nearer didn’t meet our standards. Emeritus at Vallejo not only met but went beyond what we expected.

"Quick and Effective Assistance for Temporary Care"

We had a tough situation with my dad not recovering from surgery as quickly as we hoped. Since he couldn’t go home right away, we needed a quick solution. We reached out to "A Place for Mom," and they connected us with Emeritus. After arranging a tour, they had respite care ready for our parents in just four days. Alyssa worked fast and efficiently to make sure everything went smoothly. Since moving in, our parents have been very happy with the staff, care, and food. The 24/7 care for my dad was a big reason we chose this place. Even though it’s just a temporary solution, it’s given them a better idea of this type of care for the future.

"Really impressed. Left deposit. Great staff and nice setting."

I really like it a lot. I left a deposit because I was the first of the four places I looked at, and I thought it would be hard to find something better. The staff was amazing, and I saw a lot of happy residents. I love the anytime dining option. The building looks nice and the park-like setting gives it a cozy feel.
