"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"

Our family visited in person, and this place seemed promising. However, our loved one wasn’t ready to move at that time.

"Friendly Staff and Overall Good Place"

It's a nice place with friendly staff. Some food challenges due to changes and renovations, but overall good.

"Mixed Feelings About Brookdale Walnut"

I mostly liked Brookdale Walnut. My family member needed more help, so we left. While packing, I noticed a few things in their room that could've been better. The staff in charge was excellent!

"Positive Staff and Outdoor Spaces Shine!"

Really liked the outdoor areas, especially in the assisted living section. There was also plenty of secure outdoor space for memory care. The staff made a great first impression and interacted well with the memory care residents.

"Few Staff Speak Chinese at Otherwise Nice Facility"

We stopped by this place. It's pretty good. But, not enough employees speak Chinese, which is important for us.

"Unfulfilled Expectations, High Costs: Assisted Living Facility Review"

The place was tidy and okay. We called, they said yes to rooms, but when we got there, no rooms left, just a waitlist. Also, the fees for the room and care were really expensive compared to other places nearby.

"Acceptable, But Not the Perfect Fit"

This place was okay, but it wasn't exactly what we wanted.

"Decent Assisted Living Facility with Good Staff and Amenities"

I visited this place recently and it was okay. The staff were punctual and answered all my questions. The layout of the floors was good, and they had nice amenities for the residents. However, it wasn't the right location for us in the end.

"Needs Improvement in Care and Dining"

I’d really like to say I love this place because it feels like home, but the food isn’t that great. They said they would make “anything” we asked for, but that’s not true. I’d give the dinner staff a 1.5 out of 5. There’s one worker who’s mean and doesn’t listen to what some of us want. I was eating with a guy, and he asked for ice cream. He had to wait more than 25 minutes to get it. With only 3 servers for about 15 of us, things should be better. Considering what we pay, the food choices should be nicer. The activities don’t seem to have much effort put into them. It feels like they don’t care much because many of the folks here aren’t fully aware.

"Decent Assisted Living Facility, But Poor Food and Activities"

I want to say I really like this place because it feels like home, but the food isn't very good. They claim they'll cook any food you want, but that's not true. I'd give the dinner staff one and a half stars. One worker is rude and doesn't listen to what some of the residents want. I sat with a guy named [Removed] who asked for ice cream and had to wait over 25 minutes to get it. There were three servers for about 15 of us, and I think they could do a lot better. Considering the prices we're paying, there should be a better range of food. The Activities they offer are kind of lame. I assume it's because they think most of the people here don't notice or care.

"Friendly Staff!"

The staff were friendly and helped me a lot. They gave me a tour, and I liked the community. Everyone worked together. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the right place for me at that time. The other residents were nice too.

"Pricey!"

The Brookdale Walnut was really nice, but it cost a lot. The place was clean and they took me all around the building during my tour. Overall, it’s a nice place, but not what we wanted.

"A Caring Place for My Loved One"

I feel like my loved one is in a good place. The staff always smile. My loved one says the food doesn't have much flavor. Cristina helped us with a problem in the room. Housekeeping only comes once a week. It would be better if they came more often because my loved one can't clean, and the room isn't very tidy when we visit.

"Great staff and friendly atmosphere make new resident feel at home"

My mother-in-law just moved here and she’s doing great. The staff has been calling her by her name since day one! They’re very friendly and doing everything they can to help her feel at home.

"“Nice, Friendly Assisted Living Community”"

My stepmom is getting used to living here. The place is really clean, and the staff is nice. They could pay more attention to the residents, though. She’s made friends and likes the food. Overall, it’s a good community.

"Adjusting with Care: A Clean and Friendly Assisted Living Community"

My stepmom's getting used to her new home here. It's super clean, which is great. The staff's nice and helpful, but they could be a bit more on the ball. She's making friends and liking the food. Overall, it's a good place with a few quirks. I'd recommend it.

"Friendly Staff and Decent Food at Brookdale Walnut"

Some issues came up at this facility and I had to confront the management about it, but fortunately, they sorted it out. The workers there are friendly. Mostly everyone there is likable except for a few people. The meals they serve there are pretty good, I'd give it a solid four. If someone is around 60 years old, I'd suggest finding another place. But for older folks like my mom who is in her 90's, this place, Brookdale Walnut, works really well.

"Nice Assisted Living Facility"

I visited this place during my tour, and I thought it was nice. It seemed like a pleasant spot. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too far for us to seriously consider, but overall, it’s nice.

"Incredibly Friendly Staff"

Everyone at Brookdale Walnut is super friendly. They all know my mother-in-law by name, and she’s even mentioned their friendliness to me during my visits. The only area for improvement would be better communication with families. Overall, everything has been great.

"Great start at Brookdale Walnut, very clean and engaging activities"

Though we haven't been at Brookdale Walnut for too long, our experience has been really good. They’ve been great for both me and my mom. My mom is new there and adjusting, but everything is going well so far. I’m confident it will stay that way. The place is very clean and well-maintained, and they have lots of good activities to keep her busy.

"Pleasant Home, Needs Better Dining and Activities"

Brookdale Walnut, which used to be called Emeritus at Colima, gets an okay rating from me. The people who work here are super nice and always ready to help, which is really important. But the place where we eat, which is like a restaurant, could be a lot better. It needs to be cleaner, have more food options that are actually available, and have enough workers. They also need more staff to take care of the people living here. The living spaces are pretty cool, with a nice open area in the middle that has water running, which is fun to watch. The single-room apartments have plenty of space too. The activities they have for us could be more interesting. Right now, we play a lot of bingo, but it would be nice to have other things to do as well. I’m sharing these thoughts in hopes that they’ll make this place even better.

"Caring Staff"

My parents have lived here since last year. During that time, both their minds and bodies have gotten weaker. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very patient. They know my parents by name. When my mom came back from the hospital, many staff members visited her room to welcome her. I was really moved by their kindness.

My mom stayed at Emeritus at Villa Colima for just four days, but everything was really good. I would definitely give them 5 stars.

"Friendly Staff, Small Rooms, Parking Concerns at Assisted Living"

We visited this place while deciding on care for a family member. It looked nice, and the director was super nice. She gave us a lot of helpful info. But the rooms were kinda small compared to other places we checked out, and parking seemed like it could be a hassle for visitors.

"Great staff and good care at Villa Colima"

Every worker I've met at Villa Colima has been helpful, knowledgeable, and really happy to be there. They make it a point to remember new residents' names and use them often. My mom says she has so many new friends who know her name, and she's busy getting to know them all that's just the staff! My mom mentioned that the food under the new restaurant-style program isn’t as tasty as before, but she still asks for seconds. Besides that, she loves everything about the place, and that makes my brother, sister, and me very happy too! Thanks for taking care of her.

"High-priced Care Home Unwelcoming Unless You're Paying Premium Fees"

My dad moved here three years ago and was paying around $1300 for basic care. Now, I've noticed on several sites that the price for basic care has jumped to $1995. This increased price tag seems to be causing a lot of frustration among the residents who've been paying less. The facility's director doesn't seem very understanding. She kept repeating to me, "If your dad isn't happy here, he can find another place to live." It's almost like she's trying to make my dad feel uncomfortable enough so that he'll choose to move away. She even moved him in with a roommate who constantly takes and breaks his things, and writes "get out" on his stuff. My dad recently had a hospital stay and when he came back, his wheelchair was broken. Even when he voiced his concerns, the director didn't provide any help and instead handed him a 30-day eviction notice. So, if you're considering moving here, it might be okay for a short stint. But if you're thinking of a longer stay, just know they'll only care about you if you're shelling out the big bucks.

"Director Purposely Makes Dad Uncomfortable to Force Him Out"

My dad moved in here about three years ago when the basic cost was around $1300. Now, I've seen on several websites that the cost for the same basic level of care is up to $1995. The folks who got in at the lower rate are not content. The director has repeatedly told me, "If he's not happy here, he'd better be looking for somewhere else to live." In my view, it's pretty clear that she's trying to push him to leave. She's put him in a room with someone who takes his stuff, damages his items, and writes, "leave," on everything he owns. She's going out of her way to make him miserable so he'll leave. Just this past weekend, after he came back from the hospital, his wheelchair was busted. When he brought this up, she did nothing to help and then handed him a notice to move out in thirty days. It seems to me, if you're going to move in here, you'd better only plan to stay for a short while, because they're only really bothered about you if you're shelling out big bucks.

Wow, I really liked this place! It's in a beautiful area with a great location. The staff is wonderful and very caring. They go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable and have everything you need. Plus, there are awesome activities and good food. Overall, it's a great place.

"Rent Changes, but Loved One Happy in Assisted Living"

I suggest checking their prices on paper. We've faced a few problems with my loved one's rent, as it has changed over the past three or four months. Even now, they're not quite certain what the cost should be. My relative enjoys living there very much.

"Sister and Brother-in-Law Last Only 3 Weeks in Assisted Living"

I put my sister and her husband in this place, but they only made it 3 weeks before leaving. From the moment we walked in, it felt more like a nursing home than assisted living. Seeing people sleeping in the communal area wasn't exactly encouraging. The food I tried was below average and they couldn’t stomach it either.

"Caring and Compassionate"

My mom received excellent care. The staff did a great job. There were lots of fun activities like Bingo, outings, and movie nights. They were very helpful to me during respite care. Although I couldn’t place my mother there full time, I appreciate their understanding.” And here’s the headline:

"Caring Staff, Clean Facilities, and Mom's Enjoyment Make a Difference"

The place is clean, they make sure of that. The people who work there are really nice, that's the best part. My mom's okay there, they tell me stuff when things happen, and they take care of her needs pretty quickly. They give her good food, keep her clean, and all that stuff. They even take her out once a week, and she likes it. It's good for me too, I feel better knowing she's in good hands. The only thing is they can't give shots, but I'll figure it out.

This place is really nice. My mom needs a lot of help, and they offer the best care for her. Usually, they have one-bedroom apartments available.
