"Byron Park is unsatisfactory due to lack of social inclusivity."
The staff and building at Byron Park are great, but it's definitely not a fun place to live. Living there didn't match how they advertised it or what the sales people said it would be like. The stuff they had for residents to do was more suited for people who weren't as active or able as my mom. Most of the people in the dining area were from assisted living instead of independent living. The more independent and busy folks stuck to their own groups and didn't really include others. Moving is always tough, but moving my mom there was painfully hard. She hasn’t been happy since she moved there. After only a month, she decided to leave because she just couldn't stay there. Some workers there told me a bunch of folks are leaving this month. I don’t know what's going on between the residents there, but it doesn't feel nice. Others have complained to me about how folks there can be mean. I think staff could do a better job making sure the active folks meet each other. I kind of felt like they left my mom to figure out how to fit in all by herself. When we first visited, they told us about "ambassadors," who are supposed to pair up with new people to go eat with and help them meet others. That never really happened.

"Assisted Living Review: Great Food, On-Site Doctor, and Activities!"
The community offers excellent amenities, including diverse meals and transportation. The on-site doctor is a big plus for residents. However, there has been some staff turnover.

"Excellent Assisted Living Facility with Great Staff and Transportation"
This place is one of the best communities around. The staff is amazing — so nice, helpful, and caring. The food isn't always perfect, but it has its good days and bad. The transportation here is really excellent. What more could you want?

"Friendly Atmosphere with Additional Expenses, Great Food, and Activities"
I have some concerns about extra costs for services. It would be nicer if they provided three meals a day instead of just two. However, I appreciate that it's secure and has enough staff. The residents are very friendly. They have been quick to respond and helpful. The food I tasted was delicious, and there are plenty of activities available.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
We went to see this place, but the staff arrived more than 40 minutes late. The building has six floors, but it felt really chilly inside. Some parts of the building seemed cold. The rooms were nice, but they didn't meet our needs.

"Bait-and-switch costs at pretty assisted living facility leads to stress."
The good news is that the people living here are pleasant, the building and courtyard are nice to look at, and the employees are pretty nice too. On the flip side, the cost situation is pretty deceiving. A few years back, my mom moved into this assisted living place because she thought she'd be safe and taken care of. Yes, it was a lot of money, but she had planned ahead for it. To our surprise, even the most basic services were taken away within two years, all while the costs shot up double!!! She must keep track of every clothing item and list them down if she wants her laundry done, and because of that, they barely do any laundry for her. That fancy brunch they used to brag about? Now it's only every other week. The bathrooms aren't made easy to use for those with handicaps unless you pay extra. A couple of times, we hit her help button and had to wait for 45 MINUTES before someone showed up. Sometimes, folks who need a hand with small things like putting on socks just give up waiting after 30-40 minutes and do it themselves. But the real kicker is how unpredictable the costs are - every little thing seems to add to a points system that not even the folks in charge can explain without a computer. My mom feels like every breath she takes has a price tag on it. This isn't what we thought we were signing up for. Imagine getting ready for your future only to learn that the costs have even doubled! It's made my mom so anxious that we're considering moving her once again. Not at all what you'd hope for an aging parent.

"Pricey and too independent for our needs."
The cost to start is too high for us, and this place is better suited for people who can do things on their own.

"Clean, Safe, and Friendly with Excellent Food"
I moved here 1.5 years ago with my husband, who has dementia. He’s now in a board-care facility, but I decided to stay. The place is clean, comfortable, and safe. The staff is friendly, helpful, and always tries to meet our needs. Most of the residents are welcoming and kind. Since the new General Manager arrived, the food has improved from good to excellent. Sometimes service is slow, but it’s not too bad. There are a variety of activities to enjoy.
