"Caring Staff and Clean Facility Ensure Comfortable Living Environment"
The staff at this assisted living facility is friendly and attentive to our concerns. Dennis, the caregiver manager, is especially caring and skilled. He listens to our worries and discusses them with us. The facility itself is nice and always clean. Most of the staff seem genuinely caring and focused on giving the residents excellent care.

"Friendly Staff and Great Activities at Canyon Trails"
The staff here is really nice and professional. They learn about the latest ways to help people with Alzheimer's and dementia every two weeks. The manager keeps us informed about my mom's condition. Residents can share rooms to save money. There are lots of fun activities every day. The only thing they could improve is making it easier to schedule hair appointments. But overall, we're very happy with Canyon Trails.

"Facility Tour: Strong Urine Smell Disappointed Potential Resident"
I visited this place 7 months ago. I didn't pick it for my mom because during the tour, there was a really strong urine smell in one area. When I mentioned it, the person showing us around said, "I didn't notice it." I thought - either she's so used to it she doesn't smell it, or she thinks I'm imagining things. Neither explanation was okay.

"Unhappy Residents, Poor Training in Updated Assisted Living Facility"
This place seems to have fixed up its appearance just to attract more people. The workers here don't seem to have been trained well and they're bad at talking to each other. They trick the residents and their families, making them pay for services they don't need or didn't get. The residents look unhappy and a lot of the folks in memory care are always by the main door, wanting to get out. It's really sad to see them banging on the window. You can find much better places for your family members, so keep searching!

"Clean, Caring, and Highly Recommended Assisted Living"
We moved my mom to Canyon Trails, and we're really pleased. The place is very clean and well-run, and the caregivers are always great with anything that comes up. My mom loves the caregivers and seems happy with the food too. I haven't eaten there yet, but the meals always look tasty. The whole community is neat and well-kept. I would definitely recommend it to others.

"Amazing Staff Who Truly Care for Residents and Families"
The staff is really caring. They took great care of my father and supported my sister and me. [Removed] brought me lunch while I was setting up Dad's room and gave me a big hug. [Removed] is helping us understand this new chapter in our lives. [Removed] made sure the floor was cleared when Dad insisted everyone had to leave because it was his house. They genuinely care about both the residents and their families. Thank you!

"Management Ignoring Elevator Trouble in Updated Living Facility?"
Management Choices Questioned in Post Remodel Assisted Living Facility" While the staff are decent, the choices of the top-level corporate management are raising some eyebrows. Since they finished up a glossy remodel and brought on a sales team, folks are starting to ask some questions. It's been frustrating dealing with a faulty elevator. It's been half-working for a while and has been completely broken for a few months now. This situation forces those with limited, or "painful" mobility, along with their caregivers and family, to trek down long hallways to the elevator on the opposite side of the building. This is the only way they can reach necessary facilities like dining rooms, the lobby, and activity centers. At this point, I just can't figure out why the corporate folks aren't bringing in an outside company to fix or replace the thing.

It's been weeks, and my father-in-law is doing well and hasn’t asked to leave. He’s in a good place. I love his apartment; it's a single room. He enjoys the food, and living here is definitely better for him. It doesn’t feel like a typical assisted living place it’s really nice. I chose this facility because they offered assisted living, not memory care, which felt right for him. He’s been happy here, and that gives me a lot of hope.

"Fancy Exterior, Tragic Care and Service"
If you're hunting for an antiquated building sporting a middling coat of paint, congratulations, you've just found your spot. But, if you're on a quest for a place that will truly care for your elderly parent, you might want to keep searching. I've seen the place evolve from the old management to the new. Back in the day, the building might have been old, but the caregivers were the best in town. They went above and beyond for all their residents, never hesitating to stay late or arrange for extra care whenever necessary. The new owners who seem to be investors with zero know-how in healthcare - are a different story altogether. They've jacked up rent prices and scaled back on care, staff, activities, medical supplies, and service, all in a bid to boost their profits. The current manager, appears to have little regard for the residents and is skilled in sidestepping straightforward questions, even resorting to dishonesty with relatives and government officials. There's no one to act as a bridge between the facility and families, and the few dedicated employees left over from the old regime are reined in by weak, careless leadership. Since the switch in management, our parent has become more reclusive and introverted due to the lackluster care, even though their physical health has stayed the same or even improved. Negligence is rampant here; strokes go undetected, you see residents with bruises from unsupervised falls, wheel-chair bound residents left unattended in elevators. Sure, there's a new coat of paint and inviting calendars showcasing monthly events and meal plans, but it's all just an attempt to gloss over their scanty care and barebones services. Let your nose be your guide - their advice. The place, once an antiquated but spotlessly clean building, now reeks of bodily secretions in most corridors due to the neglect of patient care and accidents on the hallway carpets, elevators, and the dining room. There are dependable facilities out there that boast experience and truly compassionate care...this isn't one of them. Keep hunting!

Overall, everyone is kind and compassionate. I would highly recommend this community.

The place is neat inside, and they're fixing up the outside too. The people who work here are really nice, and that's the main reason we like it. "Wonderful care and beautiful environment, highly recommend!"
My grandmother stayed here for three weeks, and it was amazing! The caregivers were gentle, sweet, and kind. They knew who I was and always updated me about my grandmother. The dining area looked like a restaurant, and my grandmother loved the food. Both Sherris, the executive and marketing directors, were super helpful and always available. The rooms were clean, each resident had their own room with a key, and even pets could move in. The grounds were safe and beautiful, with lots of places to enjoy the sun or shade. Everyone was always smiling, which meant a lot to me.

"Exceptional Assisted Living Experience with Topanga Park's New Owners"
Here’s my experience with Topanga Park. They have new owners that I haven't really gotten to know yet. Parking can be hard since it’s only street parking. However, they have a beautiful patio and courtyard, and a swimming pool for therapy. There are also lovely rose gardens. They are pet-friendly. Overall, they are fantastic from start to finish. "Topanga Park: A Caring and Wonderful Place for Loved Ones"
My husband, has lived at Topanga Park for about 2.5 years. After checking out other places, we found that Topanga Park was the perfect fit for him. He has Alzheimer’s, and the staff here is always ready to help. They are dedicated, kind, and caring. Residents can move around inside and outside, including the patio there are no locked areas like some other places. My husband is always clean, showered, and well taken care of. The owner is actively involved, making sure everything is running smoothly. The cook does a great job, and the food is delicious with homemade soup every day. Food was very important to Herb. Even though he may not talk, he still loves eating and enjoys the meals. I am very happy with Topanga Park and appreciate everything they do.

"Topanga Park - Caring and Clean"
We moved our mom from another place in Southern California to Topanga Park. The care and surroundings here are way better than her old place. Topanga Park spends more time with their residents and treats them like family, not just patients. Charlie runs the place with personal care and attention to detail. His staff and the environment show how much he cares and knows about what he’s doing. The surroundings are nice and homey, always clean and well-kept. I’ve never felt like it was cold and sterile when I visited my mom, and it never smells bad like some care places do. The food is great in quality, taste, and nutrition. My mom has advanced dementia, and we’ve seen her get better since she moved to Topanga Park.

"Life Changes, Topanga Park Delivers"
my mom used to say, and it came true for me when my husband of over 60 years was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD), a terrible form of Dementia. I knew I couldn't keep him at home. I checked out a few places and then, by chance, drove by Topanga Park Assisted Living and decided to walk in. Charlie, the Executive Director, gave me my first tour. I came back a few times before deciding to place my husband there. Topanga Park is a small place with lovely grounds and nice rooms. Here's what I've found: - My husband is safe, which is very important. - He has warm, kind-hearted caregivers who keep him clean and well-groomed. - The medical staff is observant and quick to respond to both small and big problems. - The meals are very good, and the servers are friendly and helpful. All the staff seem to pitch in and help out at mealtime. - The front desk knows where to direct your inquiries and keeps a close watch on the front entrance. - Transportation to doctor appointments and outings is readily available. - There are a variety of activities, including religious services, entertainment, happy hours, movies, games, etc. - Maintenance and Housekeeping are always on the job. Nothing is perfect, but my husband's needs have been met. His Dementia has taken much from him, but Topanga Park and its staff have allowed him to keep some dignity.

My time at Topanga Park has been amazing. As a volunteer, I've loved spending time with the seniors, hearing their stories, and learning from them. Even though I didn’t know much about working with older adults before, the staff and residents at Topanga Park taught me a lot and helped me appreciate their lifestyle. The staff here are unique, smart, professional, and very friendly. Charles Rosenson, the Executive Director, goes the extra mile to make sure the residents are treated with the highest respect.
