"Care at Carmel Village: A Surcharge Saga Resolved"

We really like the care at Carmel Village, but the corporate office tried to add a surcharge despite the contract saying no price increase for a year. Thankfully, it got resolved after we contacted CDPH.

"Helpful Staff, Sweet Treats, and Live Music"

The staff is great and very helpful. Our loved one doesn’t join social activities much, but enjoys live music. Residents might get too much sugar.

"Care Services Good, Room for Dining and Activities Improvement"

We've been really pleased with the care here, but there are things that could be better. The food and dining service could use improvement—it's not the greatest. The activities seem to repeat a lot; they should offer more variety. Also, they need to get better organized internally, especially with the laundry service; our family member has had things go missing, and housekeeping has been an issue.

"Happy with Carmel Village, despite a rocky start."

Our family is pretty happy overall. The only issue was on the day we brought our loved one in. It felt a bit unorganized, and I wish the transition had gone smoother for everyone, especially our loved one. But the facility itself is very nice. Everyone has been friendly. I've noticed some activities happening in the short time I've been there. Overall, we're happy with Carmel Village.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

If your loved one can do things on their own, this place might not be the best choice. The food isn't great, and sometimes my mom can't eat what they serve. In the past, the staff hasn't been very friendly. They raised the price, and some promised things weren't done upfront. But now that management has changed, communication is better.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Food and Service"

Meals can really make someone's day in this stage of life. But after two month-long visits to this assisted living facility (since I live out of state), I've found the food and service to be just okay, sometimes even really bad. I know it's hard for most people to spend time checking out their loved ones' living conditions, but for me, my parents are the most important people in the world—unless Jesus himself walks through the door. And honestly, there seem to be way too many five-star ratings.

"Friendly, Well-Organized, and Beautifully Decorated Assisted Living Facility"

The atmosphere is super friendly and lively. Everything is well-organized, and the administration takes care of everything. The cottages for independent living are great, and the main building is clean and nicely decorated. I got a really good first impression and would definitely schedule another visit.

"Great place for family fun"

This February will be my 2-year anniversary at Carmel Village. I can't wait for happy hour every Friday at 3pm. I love bringing my 4-year-old granddaughter to enjoy the live entertainment. It's something we look forward to every week.

"Friendly Community with Great Staff and a Fantastic Chef"

I’ve been living here for over a year. The residents are friendly, and the staff is great. It’s a pleasant place to live. The new chef is fantastic.

"Clean and tasty food"

The best thing here is the cleanliness. You'd think the walls would be all banged up, but they're not. The food is amazing, especially the chicken dishes—they're always hot. I asked for whole milk, and they made sure we got it. It's funny how the waitresses say "asparagus" and "chicken Kiev." They should visit some fancy restaurants to learn how to pronounce the specials correctly. The one thing they could improve is the laundry, but I'm getting the hang of it too.

"Friendly staff, but food needs improvement"

Things started off a little rocky and didn't turn out the way we hoped, but Mom is doing fine there now. She has made some friends and is joining in social events and activities. The food could be better. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very kind. The community is clean and well-maintained.

"Informative Tour with Excellent Staff at Carmel Village Assisted Living"

I went to Carmel Village on . I met with [Removed], who is one of the marketing directors. We had a good talk, and she gave me all the info I needed, answering all my questions. Then, I got to take a cool tour of the village, which was really nice.

"Great tour but missing Bridge activity."

We had a great tour at Carmel Village at Clovis Senior Living. It’s a lovely and clean place. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions. We saw the residents enjoying activities and there was live music while we visited. The only downside was that they didn’t offer Bridge as an activity, and my mom loves to play it!

"Happy with my new cottage after checking 12 other places."

I live in one of the new cottages they built last year. It has its own garage, is 1,245 square feet, has 2 bedrooms, and includes 30 meals a month. There are 2 full baths with a walk-in shower, my own washer and dryer, weekly housekeeping, and a full kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and an island with room for stools. Plus, I have my own private patio. I only pay rent, and if I add extra features to my TV or get a house phone, I pay for those. I don’t pay for power, trash, water, or gardening. I LOVE it here. Everyone is very nice. I chose this place after checking out 12 other facilities—4 in Bakersfield, 6 in Fresno, and 2 in the Bay Area where I lived for the last 30 years.

"Comfort for Mom!"

My mom enjoys her time at Carmel Village! The staff takes good care of her, and she has chances to chat with other residents during meals and activities. My only concern is infrequent room cleaning and linen changes. Overall, it's a great place!

"Clean and Friendly Assisted Living, Not Right for Dad"

I had a tour of this place and it was nice. Everyone was super nice and took their time with us. The building was clean and had lots of cool stuff for people who live there. But we decided it wasn't right for my dad.

"Higher Costs at Carmel Village"

The Carmel Village at Clovis Senior Living was really nice. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, but it cost more than other places I considered. I had only 2 days to move my mother into a home, and this place charged a $3000 move-in fee, while other places charged only $1000.

"Mom is Thriving at Carmel Village"

My mom is doing well after moving to Carmel Village. The place looks great and is very clean. The staff is excellent and helps with everything. There are fun activities for the residents. My mom likes the food, and I’ve tried it too—it’s very good. This is a nice place that I’d consider for myself in the future. I would recommend this community; our experience has been great.

Having a rough time at Carmel Village due to inadequate staffing, we just can't get the care we need.

"Friendly Staff and Great Community Support"

At Carmel Village at Clovis, the staff is super friendly and always attentive to the residents. They really go out of their way to help families, especially during family nights where you can talk about everything happening at the facility. One thing I would suggest is adding security cameras for extra safety. Overall, it has been a great experience.

"New, Pricey Facility with Few Activities and Limited Storage"

This place is quite recent and doesn't offer many activities yet. The rooms don't have much storage and it's somewhat costly.

"Friendly and Caring Community"

Our experience with Carmel Village at Clovis has been great. Everyone we've met there has been super friendly and helpful. The staff always smiles and says hello when we come in. They learned my parents' names really quickly after they moved in. My parents feel right at home and are very well taken care of.
