Comfort & Care For the Elderly

"Best Care We’ve Found, Highly Recommend This Facility"
We’ve had both of my grandmothers living here, and the care they get is outstanding. The staff is super kind and genuinely concerned about the residents. Before finding Comfort & Care for the Elderly, we tried a few other places, from assisted living to memory care, but none of them were as good. This place is the best, and we’re really thankful we found it.

"Hasty Eviction From Assisted Living Home Disappoints Family"
My 73-year-old mother, who has dementia, had been at another facility for four years. However, when the quality of care decreased following a change in ownership, we chose to relocate her. We were considering Pilar's place, so to make sure it was a good fit, I arranged for Pilar and her staff to visit my mom at her current home. I wanted them to get a good sense of my mom's behavior and her care needs. I went to a lot of effort to make this happen, so you can imagine my disappointment with what happened next. We thought Pilar's place would be a terrific choice because they were certified for dementia care and seemed very friendly. During our mom's assessment, Pilar kept reassuring us that our mom would fit in well. After just four days, we received an eviction notice via email (without even a phone call!) stating that my mom had to leave within 30 days. The reason? My mom was entering other residents' rooms and taking food off their plates. We had to question whether this place truly knew how to handle dementia patients. Can anyone with dementia adjust to a new environment within four days, especially when they can't even remember their own children? I questioned why Pilar couldn't provide my mom a grace period to adjust, but she just responded that my mom was causing too much stress for the other people living there. In my opinion, this place has been the most unprofessional and unsupportive facility we've had the displeasure of dealing with. I believe they should have their license revoked due to their lack of empathy towards the elderly. It is heart-wrenching for my mom to endure yet another move and heighten her confusion. Don't be misled by their friendly facade- insist on a contract that provides a reasonable adjustment period. Their four-day expectation is simply unrealistic.

"Unprofessional Care at Pilar's: Unfair Eviction Overwhelms Dementia Patient"
My mother is 73 years old and suffers from dementia. Four years she's been at a different facility, but following its sale, care quality dropped, so we chose to relocate her. We discovered Pilar's and felt it might be an appropriate environment for mom. To confirm, I asked for an initial visit to make sure she'd fit in well. I offered a chance for them to ask relevant questions about her conditions and behavior patterns, sadly this turned out to be a futile exercise in me trying to do their work for them. We believed that Pilar and Comfort & Care, with its remarkable dementia certification, seemed like a wonderful place. After an assessment and assurances from Pilar that my mom was 'perfect' and would fit in well, we moved mom in on January 1st. Then, after just 4 days...an eviction notice landed in my email inbox. They were kicking her out, stating that she was walking into others' rooms and swiping food off their plates. This begs the question: Do they truly cater to dementia patients? How can a person with dementia understand room boundaries in barely 4 days, especially when she can't even remember her own children? When I suggested that my mom needed more time to adjust, since this wasn't a problem at her previous home, I was simply told that she was too disruptive. This establishment is the epitome of unprofessionalism and is profoundly disappointing in its support. They should lose their license over their severe lack of compassion towards the elderly. This cold-hearted action makes my mom's confusion much more intensive. Don't let the pleasant woman and the warm smile fool you. Insist on a contract that guarantees an appropriate adjustment period after move-in. Their expectations of 4 days to adjust are downright unrealistic.

"Small rooms, near an elementary school"
The rooms are pretty small, and it's right across from an elementary school. It looks small on the inside, too.
