"Definitely Don't Choose Cypress Place"
From our encounter with Cypress Place, we'd firmly advise other families against choosing them.

"Chose Another Place After Good Tour at Cypress Place"
I visited Cypress Place for a tour, and it was good. The staff were friendly, and everyone seemed nice. The place was clean, too. In the end, we picked a different facility nearby.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
If your parent is still sharp, this place could be great. It’s packed with activities and lively. It’s very social. But if your parent has advanced dementia like mine did, I’m not sure it’s right. I think my dad could have been handled better, and the staff might not have been ready. There were also billing issues during our one-month stay. We were charged too much and waited a long time for a refund.

"Cozy Assisted Living with Wonderful Staff"
We picked Cypress Place because it’s close to my house and feels cozy, not like a hotel or cruise ship. It suits his personality well. Sometimes you have to wait because of the system at the front desk to get into the memory care area. Breakfast and lunch are great, but dinner isn’t always. The staff are amazing. I’d recommend this place to others.

"Satisfied with Staff and Activities, Room Cleaning Could Improve"
I'm mostly happy with it. The staff are really nice. The room doesn't get cleaned as often as I'd like, just once a week. I think twice a week would be better. But overall, it's a pretty clean place. For those who can move around, it seems nice. They take them out to eat and other places like that. And the cost seems fair compared to other places we checked out.

"Welcoming and Friendly, but Salt-Free Diets Are Tough"
Cypress Place is a friendly place where the residents are very kind to each other. If you like meeting new people, you’ll fit right in. The staff is very caring and helpful to everyone. They are also friendly and try their best. The food menu doesn’t have many salt-free options, so if your loved one needs a salt-free diet, it will be difficult.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The Assisted Living place is pretty good. The people who take care of you there are nice and there are plenty of them to help out. But, if your parent goes to Memory Care Generations at Cypress, there's usually only one staff member around for a few hours when there are more than 25 residents downstairs. We've seen some residents on the floor they fell down and yelling for help without anyone coming to help them. They take away extra helpers from Generations to go to the Assisted Living area, which leaves Generations with not enough people to help. But then, the people in charge charge more money for rent because they say they hired more helpers, even though those extra helpers never come to Generations, they only go to the Assisted Living area. It's weird. They do have fun activities and special events, though. But, for everyday things like meals and checking in on people in Generations, they don't have enough staff. Sometimes, all they do is knock on the door and say "Dinner" from outside. The extra charges they add on for supplies and helpers are wrong. Sometimes, they forget to give showers or wake up residents for breakfast because there aren't enough people working. It really needs a big change and better direction. In the end, I'd say the Independent and Assisted Living parts are okay, but I wouldn't trust the Memory Care for my loved one.

"Wonderful place to care for your loved ones!"
This is the nicest, most caring assisted living facility in Ventura. Both my mother-in-law and father-in-law stayed here. The staff are amazing, and the place feels as close to home as you can get. If you're thinking about where to take your parents, bring them here—you'll be happy you did.

"A Family-Friendly Choice"
We visited a few places before choosing this one. It's smaller than others we saw, which is better for my mom. She wanted a one-bedroom unit, and they had one available in the main building, not far away on the grounds. The grounds and inside are well taken care of. Mom gets her place cleaned once a week, and they fix any problems right away. The staff is nice, patient, and understanding. I've eaten here several times, and the food is great. The staff talks to me a lot and helps fix any problems we have.

"Residents Enjoy Friendly Staff and Good Communication"
We visited a few different places before choosing this one. It’s smaller than the others we saw, which is better for my mom. She wanted a one-bedroom unit, and luckily, it’s in the main building, not somewhere else on the grounds. The grounds and inside are well taken care of. Mom gets housekeeping once a week, and if there’s an issue, they handle it. The staff is friendly, patient, and understanding. I’ve eaten here several times, and the food is great. They keep in touch with me, and if there’s a problem, they work with me to find a solution.

"Clean and friendly community; not ideal for my loved one."
This place is really nice and always clean and tidy. When I went on a tour, the staff were super helpful and answered all the questions I had. Everything seemed well taken care of and clean. Unfortunately, it wasn't the right fit for my loved one.

"Amazing balance of quality and cost"
This place is amazing. We haven't moved in yet (to Memory Care for my spouse), so I can't rate everything from experience. But compared to other places I visited, Cypress Place is the best. The room and grounds are beautiful. The team at Cypress has been super helpful with all my questions and getting ready for the move. I'm looking forward to a smooth move next week. Overall, it's a great balance of quality and cost.

"Friendly Staff, Pricey Facility"
We talked to Mike, but their place was too expensive for us. The common area was great, and Mike was friendly to me and my brother. Unfortunately, it’s beyond what my dad can afford.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Decent Food"
I really enjoy it. The food is decent, although it's not consistently great. Overall, I'd rate the food around a 3. Everyone here is super friendly and polite. I'd definitely suggest this place to a friend.

"Not Quite Right for Our Loved One"
We visited this place while searching for care for a family member. It looked nice, but it felt too big and formal. Our loved one prefers cozy places with gardens.

"Challenging Layout Hinders Easy Movement"
Memory care is all in one part of the building. But if you're upstairs, you can't go downstairs without leaving memory care, going down to the main assisted living area, then back around. It's hard to get around; you have to be walked by an employee. Despite this, it was very nice, and a neighbor considered it. It's in a residential area, which has pros and cons. There's not much outdoor space, but there's a nice indoor patio. The woman in charge was more business-like, but she promised us a free lunch that we never got! Maybe she just forgot.

"Welcoming Assisted Living with Gradual Involvement Process"
I moved my mom to Cypress Place. It's really friendly and feels smaller than some other senior places. Mom's in assisted living, but there are regular retirees too. The care she's getting seems good. Mom's in decent shape, but she's dealing with dementia and forgets her meds sometimes, which is why she needed assisted living. There are lots of activities, but Mom's set in her ways. We're trying to get her more involved, but it'll take time. It's important for new folks to feel welcomed and not alone. Cypress seems to be good at that. They try to involve Mom gradually.

"I Didn't Care for the Building"
I didn't really like it. The place wasn't very well-lit. The lady was friendly and helpful, but the building, room, and overall accommodations felt dark and gloomy.

"Convenience Concerns"
I liked this place too, but my father-in-law was worried about all the stairs. I told him he could use the elevator, but he didn't like that idea either. I think he prefers everything on one level. Overall, I found the staff very nice.

"Wonderful Staff and Nice Garden, but Activities Could Improve"
I think they could offer more activities for people like my mom who have trouble hearing and seeing. They have a lot of things going on, but my mom can't join in activities like movie night, bingo, or Wii bowling. Her main issue is that she's bored, but I told her that it's not too bad. After we settled her in, we checked out other places, and she realized she liked this one best. The staff here is amazing. They really take care of the residents and get to know them personally. I believe it's the best place in the area. The residents here are all at a similar physical level. Those who need extra care, like being in a wheelchair, are in a different wing. They have a beautiful courtyard garden that she walks in every day. She's definitely in the right place.

"Ex-Resident's Child Warns Of Cypress Place's Decline"
Cypress Place is not recommendable for assisted living or value. My mom stayed there, and dealing with the senior staff was difficult. They always said, 'We can't do anything' until it was time for her departure. Then suddenly, they seemed willing to assist, expressing regret about her leaving. This kind of behavior felt a lot like dealing with a second-hand car dealer. They changed directors three times in about three years. It appeared they were more focused on reducing costs than genuinely caring for people. In the past, the staff used to be more cheerful when interacting with you. Unfortunately, after a series of lay-offs, this changed and the facility went downhill. I believe they're still attracting residents due to their old reputation, not because of how they currently operate.

"Unqualified Corporate-Run Facility Lacks Innovation and Care"
This place is definitely run by big business and that's why we had to leave, it was just in shambles and they couldn't deal with any situation creatively. My grandmother lived in their Assisted Living building and didn't need much help at all. She needed help to take her meds and with her baths. She had spent a lot of time there but started seeing things because of her medicine. She understood that what she saw wasn't real, but it frightened everyone and we had to deal with unnecessary issues because of it. Even after her doctor had made his visit, they insisted on calling 911. Usually, the medical technicians who knew her were able to calm her down, which made me extremely mad. She wasn't getting the care she deserved and I was convinced that these people didn't have the necessary skills or understanding about handling everything.
