Eskaton Lodge Gold River

"Lovely facility, too distant from home"
We toured Eskaton Gold River in person and out of the three communities we visited, we liked this one the best. However, it's just too far from where we live.

"A Great Place to Visit"
The place was clean and had a great vibe. The staff were friendly and knew what they were doing. I would tell anyone who needs these services to check it out. The tour was good, and it looked well-run. I had no problems during my visit.

"Mixed Experience at Eskaton Lodge"
We had a mixed experience at Eskaton Lodge. They really try hard to win you over during the sales process, and I think their care is pretty good. But their billing system and business practices could be clearer. My loved one moved to their memory care unit, and when we asked about moving back to assisted living, they said it wasn't possible due to regulations. However, when we mentioned another facility, suddenly they were willing to try. Watch out for extra fees—they add up fast!

"Mixed Experience With Eskaton Lodge's Billing and Policies"
My feelings were mixed about Eskaton Lodge. They really do their best to convince you during the sales part. Honestly, they give pretty good care, I think. But the way they handle their billing and all their money stuff could have been less confusing and more honest. My loved one moved into their memory care unit while staying there. When he was doing a bit better, we asked if he could go back to the regular assisted living place. They said no way because of rules. Well, until we thought about moving him somewhere else. After that, they were totally up for doing that. They even started showing our loved one other apartments without telling us, which seemed kinda sneaky. Plus, they tack on a lot of extra fees for extra things, so you really have to watch that or things get pricey really quick.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The place was nice, but it cost a lot. I didn't see much proof that they were really helping people with mental health issues. When I looked at the State Databases, I got worried about the number of complaints and inspection problems.

"Pleasant but Expensive Facility with Potential Oversight Issues"
It's a pleasant facility, but expensive. I didn't really see proof of any mental health programs taking place. Also, the state records showed several complaints and inspections, which worried me.

"Assisted Living Center Provides Excellent Care Amid Family Transitions"
My mom has Alzheimer's, so she stays in the pre-memory care section. The care there is really good. When I had to move my mom in at very short notice, it was the same weekend I was getting married. The staff were so helpful and took care of everything for me. They wanted to get my mom settled, sort everything out, and let me enjoy my honeymoon. They were amazing! The only issue I've had is that the nurses on site don't always communicate well between shifts. It's been a bit of a challenge, but after talking to the director about it, things have improved a lot. Overall, they're very good. One thing they did for me was get my mom into a furnished room right away until I could bring all her furniture. Then they cleared out the room and moved her things in the same day so she could stay in the same room without getting confused about where things are. They were really considerate about that.

"Exceptional Assistance in Assisted Living for Alzheimer's"
My mom has Alzheimer's, so she's in the pre-memory care unit, and the care is really good. When I had to move my mom there, it was all on very short notice, and it happened to be over the same weekend that I was getting married. Their staff was so helpful in taking care of everything for me. Their goal was to get my mom settled in, take care of everything, and get me on my honeymoon. They were amazing! The only complaint I have is that the nursing staff on-site doesn't communicate very well from one shift to the next. It's taking some time to improve, but after discussing it with the director, it's gotten much better. Overall, they are very good. One of the things they did for me was to get my mom into a furnished room right away until I could bring down all of her furniture. Then they emptied the room and put her belongings in on the same day so she could stay in the same room without having to reorient herself. They were really, really good about that.

"Facility More Suited for Non-Medical Care, Less for Nursing Needs"
I'm not sure if this place is the best for Maxine, the person I'm moving here. I didn't realize it's more for daily living help and not so much medical care. She needs more hands-on nursing care, but here it's more about basic everyday things. I think for what Maxine needs, the care is maybe a 2 out of 5. I think they're pushing it to accept someone like her. She has dementia, which they're used to handling, but she also has diabetes that needs regular monitoring and she's prone to falling. There just aren't enough staff to keep an eye on her the way she needs.

"Not the Best Fit for Maxine"
This place might not be the best for her. I didn't know it's more for daily living, not medical care. She needs more hands-on nursing help. I'd rate the care she gets around a 2. They might not be equipped for someone like her. Maxine has dementia, which they handle, but she also has diabetes and falls. There's not enough staff to watch her closely.
