"Great Community Despite Minor Billing Issue"

We would recommend this community to others. We had a small problem getting our bills for a couple of months, but that has been fixed.

"Headline: "Felicita Vida Assisted Living - Poorly Equipped for Dementia Patients""

I recently found two ambulance bills from the City of Escondido for my dad, who used to live at Felicita Vida. Seems like they forgot to give the City my dad's insurance details, so he got stuck with the bills—even though he doesn't stay at Felicita anymore. My dad was at Felicita only for a week in June 2019, and he had to go to the ER twice because they couldn't deal with his dementia-related issues well. The City just mailed the bills for June to my dad at Felicita—so instead of paying them, Felicita just crossed out the address and sent them to us. Why couldn't they give the City his insurance info, since they still have it? Just more proof of how badly organized and managed Felicita is. If you have a family member with dementia, it's a heads up: they're not well-equipped or staffed to handle it. My dad is now at Silverado Memory care in Escondido and he's doing fantastic. Silverado's staff know how to take care of people with memory problems—unlike Felicita. Previous Review (19 July 2019): If your loved one needs memory care for dementia, especially if they get a bit agitated now and then, Silverado Escondido Memory Care is where you should take them. They can manage even the most challenging cases, unlike Felicita Vida, who didn't handle my dad's dementia properly. Despite being at Felicita for less than a week, I got emergency calls two nights in a row—they had to send my dad to the ER due to his behavior, though they'd told me they could manage any kind of dementia patient. They actually suggested Silverado as a better place. Yes, Silverado is costly, but your loved ones will get excellent care there, with love and compassion. Even if it might strain the budget, it’s worth it just to prevent the stress of ER visits and moving around between facilities. Now, I can finally rest easy knowing my dad is being well cared for and is safe.

"Not the Perfect Fit, But Friendly Staff"

We visited this community while searching for a place for my dad. The tour was pleasant, and the staff answered our questions. However, it wasn’t the right fit for him, so we chose another nearby community.

"Feels like a resort with caring staff and gardens"

We were really impressed with Felicita Vida. It feels like a resort with beautiful gardens and caring staff. We picked Felicita for our mom because we felt they would treat her like family! Come and see the place, you'll be happy you did!

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Community"

The community felt pleasant, and the staff kindly addressed my questions. However, the dining room seemed cramped. Overall, not the right fit for my loved one.

"Concerns over safety, staff turnover, and quality of food at facility."

My dad's emergency call pendant didn't work, which resulted in him falling as he tried going to the restroom on his own. Because he fell, he broke two bones in his back and now can't walk. Even though it's normal for older people to fall, we might have been able to avoid this incident if his pendant functioned. The management never made an official apology for this issue. They entice families with claims of quick, ten-minute response times, but it hardly happens. They also lack a system to let them know if a pendant is not functioning, which is alarming if you're thinking of having a family member stay there. There's been a lot of staff changes, including top roles like the Executive Director, Assisted Living Director, Chef, medical techs, and caregivers. This is very unsettling, considering the facility just opened. They often hire young and inexperienced caregivers who, while energetic and ready, lack adequate training. For the price you pay, the food is only average. They need to include more fresh vegetables (that are not just salads) and fresh fruit. There are often too many carbs and sweet dishes. The facility is nice and new and the sales team is fantastic. However, it's important to inquire about the number of residents that have left recently and also understand how the new management plans to provide proper care for your loved one.

"Avoid This Facility: Incompetence, Neglect, and Overcharging"

Here's my review of this place in a nutshell: Stay away! I visited while searching for a memory care home for my mom. The salesperson told me the employees were experienced in dementia care. What a scam! When my mom moved in, I was horrified. She was left by herself in her room for ages without any activities or attention. They seriously lack the necessary staff, training, and proper management, and they should lose their right to operate. They were charging me a fortune every month just for my mom to sit in a room! Within a week, I knew I had to take my mom out of there due to the terrible care she was receiving. The organization in charge of the place is based in Carlsbad, and they wouldn't give me my money back, so I had to take them to court to get it. BEWARE: Avoid this awful center if you're seeking a decent place for your loved one! Heads-up: this corporation also oversees "", another poorly run "memory care" facility in. Based on my experience, I'd advise you to steer clear of there also!

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short, Mom's Care Compromised"

My mom living here has caused lots of problems. When we first met, they seemed nice and promised Mom an iPod, but she never got it. Even though we're paying for someone to clean, I end up changing her sheets. The food isn't good, and the staff, mostly young girls, ignore the residents. The activities they plan never actually happen. If things don't get better, I might take Mom back home with me.

"Beautiful facility with disappointing care and food quality, potential improvements."

This place looks amazing when you first see it! The person who showed me around was really excited about it, and I could see why. It's designed so nicely, not like a typical nursing home. But then things went downhill. My mom was happy to move in, but the food is terrible and the care isn't good either. We had to hire our own caregivers to cook for her because the food here is so bad. My mom also needed help with her medicines, but the so-called "nurse" just teaches other people to give out pills. They're not real nurses, so they can't really help with medical stuff. It's confusing and not very safe. But the activities here are great! There's a lady who plans fun things for everyone. We might take my mom out of here if we didn't think the staff actually cares. If you want a nice place for your loved one, this could be it. They just need to fix some things, like the medicine and the food.

"Luxurious, but lacking in care and services."

This place is really nice, like super fancy. My mom would totally dig it. They had a bunch of stuff she might like. All the people there were really friendly. Brittany, in particular, was super helpful and explained everything. They even have physical therapy on site, which could be awesome for my mom's recovery. We're thinking about maybe trying out the respite care to independent living transition.
