"Misleading promises, disappointing experiences: Fountaingrove Lodge's shortcomings."

I live at Fountain grove Lodge. Food and rent disappoint. Watch out.

"Friendly staff, beautiful community, chose different option."

Review Rewrite: Fountaingrove Lodge was really nice. The people who worked there were super nice and knew a lot, they answered all our questions. We picked a different place that had room for us.

"Friendly staff and great location make this place a gem"

Unlike the two reviews here, I actually live at this place. Yes, the dining rules do change, but that's because things need to evolve to improve. The wait staff are young, and even though they just got a raise, they’re definitely not grumpy! Since we moved in July 2016, the residents have been friendly. They’ve invited us to join them for dinner and breakfast. Everyone is nice and welcoming but also respects your privacy. We looked at six different places in the San Diego area and almost gave up until we found this one online. We made the long 10-hour drive and immediately fell in love with it. There’s a golf course behind the building and Thomas Lake Harris Open Space in front. The wild turkeys might not be the most beautiful, but the deer are lovely.

"A resident’s honest and positive viewpoint."

Unlike the two reviews listed, I actually live here. Yes, the "rules" about dining change—progress requires change. The wait staff are young people (the pay scale has recently been raised to the highest in the area for a retirement community) and they are definitely not grumpy! Since we moved in July 2016, residents have invited us to join them for dinner and breakfast. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming, while still respecting our privacy. We looked at six places in the San Diego area and gave up until we found FGL online. We made the 10-hour drive and fell in love with the place. There’s a golf course behind and Thomas Lake Harris Open Space in front of the building. Okay, the wild turkeys aren’t that beautiful, but the deer are.

"Comfortable Living with Room for Improvement"

My parent has lived here since earlier this year. I've visited for a week at a time on three occasions, staying in guest quarters, which are nice and convenient. The place is beautifully decorated, and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Everything is always clean and orderly. The residents look out for each other, and most are friendly. I sleep better at night knowing my parent is cared for here. Almost everything about the place is great. Activities could be more creative, but there's always something to do like arts, movies, fitness, and games. I wish there were more activities to help residents get to know each other. The dining room is a problem. The chef and wait staff are great, but the meal points system isn't fair. My parent doesn't use all the points each month, and they don't carry over or get refunded. It feels like a scam. It's hard to have a quick meal here—reservations are required, and there are often new rules that are hard to find out about. The staff can be grumpy if you don't follow the rules exactly.

"Mixed Experience: Top-Notch Facility with Dining Room Challenges"

My mom's been here since the start of the year. I've visited her for a week at a time, staying in the guest apartments, which are really nice. The place looks great, and the staff are super helpful and friendly. It's always clean and in order. The residents are friendly too. I feel better knowing my mom's taken care of here. Everything's great overall. It would be nice if there were more fun activities to help residents get to know each other, but that's just me. Some improvements could be made for introverted folks. The dining room is the only problem. The chef and wait staff are great, and the food is good. But the meal point system feels like a scam since unused points don't roll over or get refunded. Also, dining here isn't quick or easy. You have to make a reservation, and the rules keep changing, which can be confusing for my mom. The staff can be grumpy about it too. I wish they were more understanding. If they fix the dining room issues, this place would be perfect for assisted living.

"High Deposit and Rent, Plus Far from Home"

This place asks for a Huge upfront payment, and the monthly charges are even greater than what I currently pay. Plus, it's all the way Up in Santa Rosa but I actually prefer where I am living now.
