"Mixed feelings about Gettysburg Assisted Living"
If your family member can walk and prefers a quiet place to live, Gettysburg is a clean facility with caring staff. The meals are simple, like hot dogs and pancakes, geared towards a younger taste. However, if your loved one needs extra help with hygiene or preventing falls, the facility doesn't have enough staff. The owner is involved but sometimes forgets conversations. Many memory care residents seem happy in the homelike environment. It would have been helpful if she could have given a better evaluation for Dad to make better choices. Instead, she couldn't meet his needs and sent him to the VA hospital, keeping half a month's rent. While she seems well-intentioned, this made it emotionally and financially harder to move elsewhere. Without the low-cost option, we're not sure what we would have done, but looking back, it's only suitable for short-term stays.

"Meal Quality Concerns at Gettysburg Assisted Living"
We believe they should improve their process for welcoming new community members. Our loved one wasn't given a tour at all. Communication with families could also be better. The meals at Gettysburg are a major concern – they're all frozen and processed, with nothing served fresh for residents. On a positive note, one of the day-to-day workers, is absolutely amazing."

"Great for mental care, always clean"
This facility was good overall. It seems better for residents with mental challenges rather than physical ones, like our loved one had. The facility was always clean. We visited regularly and never saw it dirty. The dining and kitchen areas were always clean too. The staff was pretty nice. Communication between the facility and the family was satisfactory. I would recommend this place for those needing mental care more than physical care.

"Dirty Facility, Missing Tour Guide at Gettysburg Christian Home"
My visit to Gettysburg Christian Home was really bad. The guy I first spoke to who was meant to show me around never showed up. As soon as you step into the building, there's a heavy stench of pee. The people living there didn't seem clean either. The whole place was just grimy.

"Great small homey setting with friendly staff and activities"
My sister is doing great here. I like that it feels like a home with only 18 residents. They keep her active during the day, and she has a nice room, although she shares it with another resident. They offer a good variety of home-cooked meals. The staff is friendly and takes excellent care of everyone. If you want a homey place, I suggest you schedule a tour.

"Friendly and Clean, but Missing Memory Unit"
When I visited the place, it was really clean and nicely kept. Everyone there was super friendly and made me feel welcome. The only issue was that it didn’t seem like my mom would fit in with the other residents, and they didn’t have a secure memory unit. But overall, I’d still recommend this place to anyone looking.

"Clean but not the right fit for us"
I visited this place to find care for my mom. The community was clean, but it didn't feel right for us. I didn't like that my mom would have to share parts of her room. They do have activities for residents if they want to join. I suggest families check this place out.

"A Tour for Care"
I visited this community to check if it would be a good fit for my mom’s needs. Unfortunately, it didn’t have the right vibe I was hoping for. On the positive side, it was clean. However, we didn’t like that my mom would have to share some areas in her room. They do offer activities for residents who are interested. I recommend families take a tour of this community.

"Affordable, Lively Alternative to Nursing Homes!"
I was about to give up on finding a good nursing home for my mom in Fresno. She was having a hard time at her previous facility, and they suggested she needed a place specializing in dementia. They just wanted her to leave and recommended some awful places. I finally called "A Place for Mom" thinking they couldn't help, but they said my mom needed more one-on-one care. They suggested a residential care home that was affordable and gave me some contacts to call. I visited three homes because any more would be too confusing. All the homes were nice, but I picked the one with more people, around 10, including both men and women. Most homes have only women and fewer residents. This place felt lively! My mom has been there for over a year now and is doing as well as she can without being in her own home. It’s so different from all the nursing homes we saw. My brother thinks I must have had a guardian angel helping me find this place because he can't believe I found it. I agree with him. I no longer worry about my mom all the time. I wish everyone knew about these residential homes. They are affordable and a great alternative to terrible nursing homes.

"Avoid This Terrible Assisted Living Facility"
This place deserves no stars at all if I had the option. I took a family member there and we talked about the specifics of the care she needed. After settling her in, a friend went to see how she was doing. She found my relative still in bed with wet diapers. The friend helped her up for breakfast, and when she returned, an hour and a half later, my relative was still in the same condition. The staff doesn't stick around since they have their own separate space. There was even cat feces in the shower. It was truly a horrible experience.

"Feels Like Home with Friendly Staff and Great Meals"
I visited Gettysburg Christian Home and found it clean and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and the residents seemed happy. The meal stood out to me: fresh Brussels sprouts, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, purple grapes, and a bread roll. Everyone was enjoying their meal, making it feel like home.

"Wonderful Care and Activities!"
The care here is amazing. From what I've seen, they do a great job with activities. They encourage everyone to stay active and have an activities director. They do fun things like game nights, puzzles, and some outings. I think they even have someone come in for church services. I can't think of any ways they could improve right now. The staff is very caring and friendly. They always keep me updated on everything, so I've been really happy with them.

"Heartbreaking assisted living facility lacks proper care options"
This place was really heartbreaking, boring, and didn't even offer a true memory care program or anything else. It may be cheap, but there's no way I would let my father live there.
