"A Great Choice for Loving and Supportive Senior Care"
Finding the right board and care facility for a family member can be really stressful and emotional. You might question if you made the right choice. After checking out four different places, I was really lucky to find Golden Coast Senior Living in Mission Viejo. From the start, I could tell this place was different. The owner and staff listened to our needs and were incredibly kind, honest, and helpful. They guided us through everything and provided great care, including when we needed Hospice support. I highly recommend Golden Coast Senior Living. I’m very thankful for their sincere and loving care.

"Terrible Experience at Argus Dr. Assisted Living Facility"
I would never suggest my loved ones to consider the assisted living place on Argus Dr. Some years back, my mom was living in this place for only a month, and she was always in a terrible shape each time I visited. Trusting my instincts, I decided to move her elsewhere. I had specified that my mother would be more comfortable with a female caregiver to help her shower. Instead, a male staff member was assigned to do this, which caused her extreme distress. As soon as I relocated her, I found out my mom had a gum infection because she didn't get assistance with brushing her teeth for that whole month! No wonder she never seemed at ease and couldn't express her discomfort. The owner excused themselves saying they were not aware of her having dentures. Regardless of her having natural teeth or dentures, they should've aided her with dental care. My only regret now is that I never reported this to the Health Department. During my visits, one of the employees frequently would abandon his gardening work and run inside as soon as I arrived. This always gave me a bad gut feeling. Last month, my mom passed away peacefully, but not before spending 5 years in a fantastic assisted living place where she got the best care. Thankfully, there are commendable facilities out there, but the place on Argus Dr. is definitely not one of them.

"Decline in Care and Communication"
My mom was at this assisted living place where they changed owners twice. The care she got lowered, there weren't enough staff, and they weren't good at talking about her care. They said they were improving things, but I didn't see it. I moved my mom somewhere else, and she's real happy now.

"Negligent Service at Villareal's Assisted Facility"
Super risky and awful business owned by the Villareal family. My mom got hurt and they didn't bother to tell me or even call a nurse for two whole days.

"Clean, caring staff; recommended, but check weekend policies."
Mom was on hospice and stayed at Golden Coast Senior for just 9 days before she passed away, so I didn't see a lot. However, I’d recommend their home on Vanessa. Rebecca, who runs the place, is a nurse and is fantastic. She noticed mini strokes before the hospice team did and is very caring. The home has a clean look and smell, and visitors said it seemed better run than others. I would check their weekend policy because Mom seemed overmedicated and they were understaffed. Despite this, the staff was very kind after Mom passed and returned money, which was helpful. Also, two senior care workers I know said they would put their loved ones there. Finding a home is tough, so I hope my experience helps you.

"Great care in a short time: clean, caring, and supportive"
Mom was on hospice and stayed at Golden Coast Senior for just 9 days before she passed away, so I didn't see a lot. But I would recommend their home on Vanessa. Rebecca, who runs the place, is a nurse and amazing! She noticed small strokes before the hospice team did. Rebecca seems very caring and really pays attention to her patients. I liked that they had an open-door policy, and the home was always clean and smelled nice. Visitors said it looked cleaner and better run compared to other places they had seen. I would ask about their weekend policy since Mom seemed a bit drugged and there were fewer staff members then. But given Mom's condition, I can't make any firm judgments. The staff was very kind when Mom passed away and even returned some money, which was very helpful. After Mom's passing, I talked to two people who work in senior care (not at Golden Coast) and they both said they would put their own moms there. Finding a good place is tough, so I hope my experience helps you.

"Caring Staff and Helpful Admin"
I like the folks there; they're nice. The office folks are super helpful. They stay in touch and offer advice. I think they could use more staff, but they care about my family member.

"Usha and her staff are wonderful!"
“Usha and her team are great to work with, and their home is very nice, clean, and well-maintained. Our mom received excellent care during her stay at Golden Coast. The only thing she mentioned was that the food could have been better to her liking. But overall, we highly recommend Golden Coast to others.

"Took advantage of our crisis, overcharged and kept all money!"
Initially, Usha seemed like a serious professional, but this perspective changed after making our payment. We were quoted one cost by her, but after moving mom in and finishing all the paperwork, we discovered an unexpected $200 per month extra cost and a concealed $500 administration fee. Usha denied ever mentioning the cheaper price and insisted that all places like hers have this $500 fee. Later we discovered this assertion was false. Although the care staff were friendly and attentive, the food was awful. My mother stayed less than a month, yet Usha still kept all the money we paid, denying us a prorated return. Given our high stress levels at the time, we couldn't muster the energy to take legal action. More than a year later, we still feel that Usha was thoughtless and exploited our family during our critical situation.

"Top-notch cleanliness and great staff make this place awesome!"
This place is awesome! They do a great job. The cleanliness is top-notch, definitely a five-star. The food looks tasty, and everyone enjoys it. The staff is almost perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation. A neighbor suggested it, and after checking out several places, this was the best.

"Utter Disappointment with Golden Coast Senior Living"
We handed Golden Coast Senior Living $500 for an "admin" fee, along with the first and last month's rent of $4500 each, back in November. We planned to move our mom in on December 1, 2013. To get ready, we moved her furniture and personal stuff there on that date, but she was still staying at Emeritas San Juan Capistrano since we gave them 30 day notice by 11/19/13. Unfortunately, mom got admitted to Mission Hospital on December 2nd with pneumonia where she sadly passed away. We informed Usha at Golden Coast Senior Living about our mom's situation and that she most probably wouldn't move in. We picked up her belongings on December 8th. Usha only refunded our last month’s rent of $4500. December wasn't prorated. In other words, they pocketed $5000 for nothing. I find this appalling and it shows no sign of the compassion they're supposed to display. I'd never suggest them to anyone.

"Great staff and owner, excellent care for dementia and end-of-life"
The staff at this place were amazing, and the owner, was fantastic too. She helped us with money problems and handled tricky situations well. She gave us advice on managing my dad's dementia. I would suggest this place to anyone dealing with dementia. When my dad was nearing the end, the staff worked with the hospice team to keep him comfortable.

"Great location and caring staff; minor billing issues being resolved"
They're close to my home, and the staff is really nice and knowledgeable. The place looks clean and well-kept. Since she moved in, things have been going well. I have a few small issues, mostly with finances and some promises that are changing. The cost for the room hasn’t increased, but they billed me for something they said they wouldn’t. We're working on fixing that. Overall, everyone is friendly and attentive, and things are going well.
