"Neglect and Unhealthy Conditions at Good Hands Senior Home"

If you really love your folks, do not send them to Good Hands Senior Care! I put my Dad in there in October 2018, and only four days later I had to take him out. I stopped by to see him every day he was there, and I was mad and grossed out by what I saw. Good Hands is a senior home run by a guy named He seemed nice at first, but turned out to be all about the money and not enough about compassion. The aide he hired, was not fit for the job. He barely spoke or understood English, so it was hard for him to talk to residents. He knew next to nothing about the health issues my father had, even though we gave a thorough medical history when we checked in. Actually, [name removed] seemed clueless about my Dad's diabetes, and would give him sugar-filled stuff like orange juice and cookies! While my Dad was there, the weather was super hot and indoors it was 80-82 degrees. But was not eager to turn on AC; because had told him not to. Instead, the home’s front door was left open for some breeze. But with no screen door in place, tons of huge flies got in. They were everywhere, even in the bedrooms and kitchen during meal times. One resident even told me that they had asked many times for a screen door without any luck. This lack of cleanliness carried over to my Dad's room. The room that was "ready" for my Dad was awful - dusty and dirty with really old, grungy furniture. There were dead flies on the bed and window sills. The floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned for ages. It was disgusting. In the short time that my Dad was there, he went downhill fast; his clothes were a mess, his legs were swollen, his lips were dry and cracked. Taking him out of there was the best decision I ever made. Now he's in a senior home in he , and for just $500 more a month, he's safe, clean, comfortable, and well cared for by two medical trained caregivers.

"Friendly Staff and Fresh Meals"

I took a pleasant tour, but noticed it's a small board-and-care facility licensed for six residents. At the moment, there were only four residents. The owner and his wife were friendly during our meeting. He emphasized their commitment to cooking nutritious, fresh meals that they share with residents.
