"Switch in Ownership Leads to Downhill Quality in Elderly Care Home"
My dad lived at La Habra Villa for many years. We were satisfied until the place changed hands and was renamed BOK Senior Hotel. The new owners are struggling and short on staff. The new boss doesn't know the first thing about eldercare or memory care, which was needed by my dad. Her background is in the pharmaceutical field. Also, most of the employees work part-time and don't know the unique needs of individual patients. For instance, my father couldn't eat or swallow when he was under hospice care. Despite this, I saw an employee leave two bowls of soup for him. Just before my dad left us, in a room full of his children and hospice workers, the administrator began discussing my dad’s worsening health right in front of him. On one occasion, the hospice team found my father lying on a wet bed, unclothed and in a dirty diaper. The bed was soaked with urine. I was having a heart-to-heart with another manager about my dad's care. She chose that moment to question why I was asking for his rent invoices. I couldn't believe it. After our chat, she sent an employee to our room to give me an invoice while I sat next to my dying father. The day after my dad died, I got an email with yet another invoice. BOK Senior Hotel, once a good place, is not somewhere I'd ever let my parents stay again.

Worried for my loved one.
"New Management Hikes Rent, Forces Long-term Residents Out"
Everything was fine until the new owners bought La Habra Villa. An overseas corporation renamed it "B.O.K. Senior Hotel". They quickly announced a hefty rise in rent, completely ignoring any prior contracts. We're not sure, but this might be against the law. We're checking it with our attorney. Due to the rent hike, numerous residents will have to relocate, and just in time for holidays. Lots of them have lived here past 5 years. Evidently, new management is forcing them out so they can bring new tenants at this escalated rental rate. Don't even think about choosing this place.

"Horrific Experience at Assisted Living Facility, Not Recommended"
We were stuck in this community when remodeling happened at my mom's house. This place was awful. The staff doesn't know what they're doing, and there's not enough of them so the people living there struggle. They won't let you go outside without a staff member, and my mom felt trapped. They were aware about 20 of us were just there temporarily, but the Director was still trying to convince us to stay permanently. I would tell no one to go there!

"Great staff, clean facility, and caring environment"
My uncle stayed here for a short time. The staff were kind, helpful, and always there when needed. The food was good and healthy, and they really tried to get him to eat. The place is clean, and they encouraged him to join in daily activities. They listened to us and had an open-door policy.

"Father's enjoying his time at La Habra"
From what I’ve seen, my father’s experience at La Habra is going great! The place is clean, and the staff is really friendly. The meals my dad gets are great, and he enjoys the regular outings they offer. I’d definitely recommend this place to a friend!

"Unreachable Manager Threatens Neglect Accusations; Old Manager Missed"
I really miss the previous manager at this assisted living facility. The new one is incredibly hard to get in touch with. To make matters worse, it feels like she's playing games, which I don't appreciate. I tried to contact the owner about these issues, but she wouldn't even give me that information. I believe my mother has early dementia, but the new manager keeps insisting I take my mom to the doctor for unnecessary reasons. I work in medicine, so I can tell when someone's being deceptive. When I don't do everything she asks, she threatens to report me for neglect. I think this is extremely unfair and I wanted to share this with everyone.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Community"
My mother-in-law has settled in well at this community, and we're happy with the other residents. They're friendly and kind. However, I've had issues with the administrative staff—they weren't very straightforward about paperwork. The community is clean and looks amazing. My mother-in-law has made new friends and enjoys the food. I'd recommend this place, but keep an eye on the paperwork.

"Understaffed Assisted Living Needs More Caregivers for Better Attention"
I have some concerns about La Habra, mainly because I feel they don't have enough staff. My mom stays in the memory care unit, and if there were more caregivers, she'd get more attention. The caregivers here are nice and helpful, but there aren't enough of them. I'd advise anyone thinking of moving here to keep communication open with the staff so they understand your loved one's needs. I just think this place needs more caregivers to help out.

"Assisted Living Disappointment: Staff Attentiveness Declines"
The place was fine at first, but now it's not so good. The people who work here don't pay as much attention as they used to. The help and care aren't as good as before. There aren't enough staff here. I don't know why.

"Lack of Care Leads to Immediate Withdrawal"
The place and setting were pretty nice, I'd say like a four out of five. When I took my relative there, I talked to the boss, who was nice and gave us helpful info. But I told him my aunt was really shy and needed a little push to do some light exercises. When I visited her last, she looked so weak she couldn't even walk, and she had a really bad cough. So, I had to take her out of there right away. They just weren't taking good enough care of her.

"Changes Expected After Ownership Shift at 3-Story Assisted Living Facility"
This big building has three floors and over 100 people living there. They put residents on different floors based on how much help they need. But there aren't many caregivers on each floor. The place just got new owners, so there might be more changes soon.

"Poor Grooming, Lack of Staff - Disappointing Assisted Living Experience"
My relative's grooming was bad. Hair unkempt, not shaved or teeth brushed. Blanket had urine stains. We're let down. Staff nice but too few for proper care.

"Comfortable Assisted Living for Loved Ones"
This place was really nice. I'd be okay leaving my husband here, and I plan to do that in December.
