Las Casitas Assisted Living

"Facility Took Deposit, Booked Room to Someone Else without Notice"
My siblings and I checked out this assisted living facility for our dad and really liked it. So, we decided to put down a deposit to reserve a room until my dad could see it himself. After my dad's visit, I tried to finalize the paperwork with the Manager. I even offered to pay for the room if our planned move-in date didn't line up. But I didn't hear anything back from her. I tried calling her and she barely spoke. Next thing I know, they've given the room to someone else without letting me know at all! This has messed up my plans since I had to take off work to help my dad move in. Now, I've got to find a different place because they didn't have the decency to call. Plus, if I don't get my deposit back, there's going to be problems. It's so frustrating that I wish I haven't had to even give them a single star.

"Disorganized Tour, Quiet Atmosphere; Needs Better Communication"
I called three times before I could set up a tour with [name removed]. But when I arrived, she didn't have any information about room charges or extra care costs. The director was supposed to call me afterward, but I haven't heard anything yet. It's a small and quiet place, though.

"Awful assisted living facility tour leaves a bad impression"
This place was seriously awful. The tour guide wasn't even there, a random worker let us in instead. It seemed like she didn't even know we were supposed to be there. She didn't seem glad to see us. The rooms were dim, musty, and had a bad smell. The people who lived there looked really sad and one old lady even asked us if we wanted the real scoop on this place. I wouldn't make my mom live here, not for all the tea in China.

"Clean, Caring, and Communicative"
Our family is super happy with this place and the care they give our loved one. We’ve checked out a few places, and Las Casitas is the best by far. The staff is always there and really caring. The activities are always fun and well planned. The garden is nice and well-kept, perfect for sitting. Every time I visit, I’m so pleased with everything. The place is spotless, and the meals always change and look great. They really listen to any concerns and communicate well with me. The director is kind and talks with us a lot. She has been very helpful with our needs and concerns, and I’m so thankful for that! If you want a great and caring place for your loved one, this is it! Thank you, Las Casitas, for everything you do!

"Warm, caring staff made moving to Las Casitas easy."
I toured several places with my mother before choosing Las Casitas. What stood out about Las Casitas was the warm sense of community and the caring staff. Many other places we looked at were too big and didn't seem right for her. At Las Casitas, I felt she would be well cared for and supported. Deciding to move a parent to a new home is tough, but the Administrator and staff made it as easy as possible. We are very glad we chose Las Casitas.

"Perfect Fit for Our Family's Assisted Living Needs"
This place is way better than the big, crowded places we saw before. Everyone gets a lot of attention here, and the food is amazing. It's surprising how important that is. We can talk to the staff anytime and know everyone by their first name. You don't see this kind of service and care anywhere else these days. They really care about the residents and keep our family updated on everything. We're so lucky a friend told us about this place because I can't imagine anywhere better!

"Avoid This Care Home: Numerous Issues Include Neglect and Disrespect"
Absolutely do not send your loved ones to this care home. The staff act terribly towards the seniors living here. They're not just dismissive and abrupt, but also neglectful and disrespectful. The elderly folks frequently have to wait anywhere from 30-50 minutes for a bathroom break or help of any kind they need. They're usually left all alone as though forgotten. The staff just tells them they're busy and the seniors will have to wait, even for bathroom breaks. On top of this, the facility is understaffed with only 2 staff members looking after 15 seniors a day. There isn't even a cook on the premises. The caretakers are overstretched with cooking, giving medications, bathing, and feeding duties, among other things. The living conditions are just non-existent. There's no stimulation at all. Most seniors are left in their bedrooms, alone and unattended, all day. The rooms are horribly neglected and dirty, filled with dust and an awful stench. The plants are dead and there is dog excreta in the garden left uncleaned for days. The manager of this facility is completely unfit for the role. She's not empathetic or worried about the well-being of the residents. She's often absent and only interested in collecting the monthly fees. She does not conduct any form of security checks on the caregivers and hires them in haste. Furthermore, the work culture here is appalling. The caregivers quarrel among themselves and even threaten each other right in front of the residents. The whole place is a dismal spectacle. It's currently under formal scrutiny and being investigated for negligence. So, please don't subject your loved one to this facility. You'll deeply regret it. We certainly did.

"Steer Clear: Assisted Living Facility Ridden With Neglect and Chaos"
Avoid this assisted living facility at all costs! The staff here completely neglects the residents, treating them harshly and with an uncaring attitude. Each resident has to wait anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes for assistance, even just to go to the bathroom. They're pretty much left alone every day, with staff saying they’re just too busy to help. There aren't enough caregivers - only 2 for 15 residents a day. They don't even have a professional chef. Instead, the already short-staffed caregivers must prepare meals alongside their caregiving duties. This includes giving out medication, helping with personal hygiene, and feeding the residents. They don't offer any fun activities, preferring to just leave everyone in their beds all day. The place is a wreck. Rooms are dusty, grimy, and just stink in general. They don't take care of their plants and let them die. Even worse, there's animal waste on the grass that they just leave there for several days. The facility is poorly managed too. The manager is indifferent, only caring about getting paid each month. They don't even bother screening the caregivers and hires anyone out of desperation. The management's lack of care is evident in the staff dynamic. The caregivers argue and even threaten each other openly right in front of the residents. It's completely chaotic! Not surprisingly, the facility is under investigation for neglect. Whatever you do, don't let your loved ones stay here - we made that mistake and deeply regret it!

"Mixed Feelings at Assisted Living Facility"
Not a great experience. There were over 15 residents, but we didn't see anyone else during our visit. The lawn was covered in dog poop, and there weren't many activities. Plus, you always have to go outside to reach the dining room and larger living area.

""Mediocre Assisted Living Facility with Outdoor Space Issues.""
It was just okay. Over 15 people live there, but we didn't spot any others during our visit. There was dog waste scattered around the yard. They don't have a lot of things to do. Also, you need to go outside every time you want to reach the eating area and the main hangout space.

"Neglected Seniors Regularly Crying for Help"
Living in the apartment next door, I constantly hear cries for help. This suggests to me that the staff often neglect their responsibilities and leave the seniors alone without assistance.

"Frequent Cries Underscore Abandoned Responsibilities"
I'm the guy living in the apartment next door. I hear cries for 'help' way too often, which shows that the staff their responsibilities, leaving these folks all alone and uncared for.

"Caring staff made our mom’s final days peaceful"
We moved my mom here from a larger place because she needed more care in a smaller setting. We wish we had found this place sooner. It’s a beautiful and well-kept home with caring staff who took great care of our mom. We were able to keep her here until she passed away, and we felt she was well cared for.

"A Place for Our Mom"
Our mom spent the last five years bedridden at home with a 24-hour caregiver. We had to sell the house before she ran out of money, and she really didn't want to go into assisted living, but it was necessary. From the first day at Las Casitas, she had a new view of assisted living. The staff welcomed her, served a delicious meal, and made her super comfortable in her new bed. The staff encouraged our mom to get out of bed, go to the dining room for some meals, and socialize with other residents. When she doesn't feel like going to the dining room, they serve her meals in bed, but they always support and encourage her to join others when she's ready. On a recent visit, she was excited to tell me that a nurse washed her hair and gave her a scalp massage. She felt pretty and cared for. She was smiling because the nurse even offered to color her hair! She's loving all the personal attention at Las Casitas, and I see a spark in her that I haven't seen in a while. We are so grateful to A Place For Mom for finding such a wonderful place for our mom. Thank you, Cheryl & Don W.

"My Grandmother's Health is Improving Here"
I haven't had any problems so far. They are really quick to help whenever I have a request or concern. They respond fast to anything my grandmother needs. She seems to be doing much better here. She has dementia, so she doesn't respond much, but she's eating better and her overall health seems to be improving.
