"Long Wait Times for Escorts at Laguna Estates Senior Living"
The main issue we've faced at Laguna Estates Senior Living is that it takes the escorts too long to reach our loved one's room for outings. She's had to wait 30-60 minutes at times.

"Attentive Staff and Comfortable Environment at Laguna Estates"
I visited 12 different care places before choosing Laguna. What made Laguna stand out was how it felt and the costs compared to others. Moving into assisted living was new for me and my Mom. We still have lots of questions and worries. The staff at Laguna Estates really listens to us and answers our questions without getting defensive. They truly care about the residents and want them to be happy here.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living"
Our family took an in-person tour, which we found pleasant and positive. However, the building lacked space and natural light.

"Not Recommended for Most Families"
They were friendly at first, but once they got our money for the apartment, they became unhelpful. The lady named Pat, who handled admissions, turned rude after receiving payment. We've had many problems related to care and finances since my loved one moved in. I wouldn't recommend this place unless your family member is sharp and capable.

"Friendly Staff, Some Turnover, Decent Care"
The staff was super friendly and helpful, but there were frequent staff changes up to the executive director. Overall, they did a decent job.

"Excellent Assisted Living Choice in Carlsbad"
We picked Las Villas De Carlsbad because the staff are really friendly, the location is good, and the food in the cafeteria is amazing. The rooms here are pretty spacious. They just renovated the place so it looks really nice now. I would definitely tell others to check it out.

"Comfortable Assisted Living with Many Amenities and Medicare Accepted"
This assisted living facility is familiar with CalPERS billing and offers short-term skilled nursing with an RN or LVN on duty. They have a set daily rate that includes basic cable. Residents need to pay extra for WIFI and phone services. There is a slight odor in the halls. The dining experience is like a restaurant. A security pendant is available for $50 a month. They offer tours of studio and one-bedroom apartments. The facility has an outdoor pool, jacuzzi, putting green, and gardening areas. Laundry and housekeeping are provided once a week. They accept Medicare and Medical. Independent living is in a separate building, and respite care is available. There is a $500 move-in fee plus an extra $15.00 over the daily rate.

"Dad is fitting in well and getting great care."
Dad is adjusting here better than I thought. They provide all the services he needs, especially with medication management, which is always on time. The place is always clean, and Dad is getting along well and meeting new people. He enjoys three good meals a day and they’re about to start a diabetic diet for him. They encourage him to join daily activities. The facility has a pool and many nice amenities. I want to mention that [name] offers outstanding customer service. She visits Dad to check on him and communicates well with me. I recommend this community.

"Early Struggles, But Hopeful for Improvement"
I'm hoping things get better with time. My mom just moved here a few weeks ago, and it's been pretty tough for all of us. She's doing alright now, but we had some trouble with confusing paperwork when she first moved in. This messed up the kind of care she was getting. They need to push her shower time a bit later, it's really early at 4 in the morning. I wish the maintenance people were a bit more helpful too. The food seems okay, at least.

"Great Care and Value for Families"
We visited this nice place. It's a bigger community and didn't have the homey feeling we wanted. The lunch looked good, and we liked the variety. They have lots of activities. We recommend families check this place out for good care and value.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"
The care here is okay, but it could be better. Some promises they made were not kept, and it's frustrating when you're told someone will come and they never do. Good news is that the food is getting better, so that's appreciated. One big problem is that it's hard to mail a letter easily. The front desk is far away for people who have trouble moving around. It would be helpful if they had drop-off boxes nearby. The worst part is how long it takes to hear back from doctors. Waiting 24 or 48 hours for a response is too long, especially if you're in pain. There has to be a faster way to get help.

"Substandard Care and Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
The nursing team gave my dad some medicine that ended up making him sick. They had to call paramedics. Even though we're his family, they didn't tell us what happened. The next two nights, they gave him the same medicine again. Both times, he got sick again and the paramedics had to come back. When I visited him, I saw that where they put his IV in was still bleeding and had caused his clothes to be soaked all the way from his underarm to his waist. Finally, on the third night, they sent him to the hospital. Nobody seemed to think about whether the medicine was causing him to get sick, or talk to his personal doctor about it. It took 20 hours before someone realized he wasn't at the nursing home anymore. After he came back from the hospital two days later, we saw that nobody had cleaned his room. He had some food from two days ago that was still sitting by his bed. We talked to four people at the nursing home. One was a nurse and the others worked there as well. They didn't even know my dad had a problem with his medicine, or that he'd been in the hospital. The people who work there are nice, but they don't seem to talk to us or each other as much as they should. We decided to ask if the nurses at the home had my dad's new medicine schedule from the hospital. They didn't, so we gave it to them. If we hadn't asked, they would've given him the same medicine that made him go to the hospital in the first place. We found out that during the night, they only have one nurse for three whole buildings of people. They even have a part of the building where people need more medical help, called a 'Skilled Nursing' wing. There's no doctor who works there or is on call. We don't like the way they've been caring for my dad here and we wouldn't tell anyone else to send their loved ones here. We're planning on leaving.

"Expectations Not Fully Met"
My brother got sick and is now at their health center. The people there are really nice, and the therapist is great too. Whenever we buzz for help, they come right away. But when my brother lived in the community, I'd visit often and leave notes on the door with his needs. I noticed they took about 30 minutes to respond to the buzzer. On weekends, they don't seem to have enough staff. Overall, it's a nice place and the staff are friendly, but I thought they'd do better.

"Wonderful place with caring staff!"
I stayed at Las Villas for a week. My room was lovely and overlooked the pool. It was very clean. The staff were super attentive and really care about the residents. Sadly, I couldn't join any activities because they were canceled due to a flu outbreak before I arrived. But everything else about Las Villas is great. I would definitely think about moving here in the future.

"Pretty Nice"
They've got a nursing care unit covered by Medicare, but no snacks all day. Still, they're pretty nice, and the idea of aging in place could appeal to some.

"First Impressions: Clean, Friendly, and Good Value"
First weeks impression: It's an older place, but clean, including bathrooms and stairwells. The staff has been very responsive when issues come up and in their daily interactions with residents. Several residents have told me they're happy there, and some have been there for many years. Many of the staff have been there for decades too. Good value compared to other places in town. Includes the first hour of care in a competitive rate. Still early, but first impressions are positive.

"Wonderful facility with great food, staff, and affordability"
I moved my father into this facility quickly, and he’s never wanted to leave. The food was the first thing that made him want to stay, and I also enjoy it when I visit. The place is beautiful with a cozy fireplace always burning. The staff and medical team are fantastic with everyone. I’m so relieved to have found this place for my father; he’s safe, well-cared for, well-fed, and surrounded by friendly residents. Plus, it’s affordable. Don’t hesitate to consider this place for your loved one.

"Inadequate Staff and Confusing Pricing"
I visited this place today, looking for somewhere for my aunt, who's 95, to live long-term. There was a lady being trained and another, supposed to be the boss of community services. I had some questions - basic stuff she should have known off hand - and she didn't know the answers. She left me with her trainee for about 10 minutes, without any talk, super awkward. The trainee didn't even try to chat. Finally, the boss lady came back with the answers, then we walked around the place. It was nice. Very clean, looked after well. But it was too quiet for my taste, same as the head lady's attitude. I asked them to send me the price details in an email because their price list was really tricky to understand, and they said they'd do it right away. Still waiting on that email. My aunt won't be staying here.
