"Clean and Comfortable Assisted Living Facility with Helpful Staff"
We really liked the facility. It's super clean and well-maintained. My dad's apartment is really nice and comfy. The staff has been quick to answer our questions. A month after my dad moved in, they started using a new online rent system. It's been a bit tough because there are some quirks they're working out. We're hopeful they'll fix those things and make it easier in the future. Overall, I'd give the facility a high rating and definitely recommend it to others who might want their parents to move there. The only downside is the food, but I hear that's pretty normal for places like this.

"Costs Up, Care Down at Senior Home"
This place seems better suited for folks who don’t need much help. They have a bus for outings, but if you use a wheelchair, you’re out of luck. When you need a caregiver, be ready to wait a while after hitting the help button. They don’t check on people enough either. Plus, they just told us care costs are going up by a bunch each month.

"Poor Cleaning and Delayed Emergency Response in Assisted Living Facility"
They didn't clean the room regularly, and when they did, it wasn't very thorough - it was just moving stuff around. The worst part was when my mom fell, she pressed her alert button and was left on the floor for over an hour before anyone came to help her. This happened at 3:30 in the morning when they probably weren't even busy. The only positive I can share is when I moved mom the manager was very kind.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Comfort and Atmosphere"
We visited Las Villas Del Norte while looking for a place for our family member. We weren't impressed. I didn't like that residents had to walk to showers in the hallway, like a dorm. It felt too much like a hospital.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
Overall, I'd say it's okay. The place is big, but cleanliness disappoints me. They seem attentive to my concerns, though. Not as fancy as [community name removed], but cheaper. My biggest issue? Waiting for someone to let me in and out of the memory care area—it feels like a sterile hospital.

"Terrible facility; unstaffed, uncommunicative, and caused premature death."
This living facility was a total mess for my family. They barely had enough staff. Trying to get in touch with them was like pulling teeth and it took them forever -like 15 minutes- to open the door after my sister checked in to visit our grandma. They didn't even seem to care much about my grandma. Worst part? They didn't say a word about an infection, which ended up taking my grandma away. It's a shame how the folks running Del Norte manage the place, especially the memory care facility. They straight up lied about what my grandma and our family would go through. Our grandma was super healthy before she moved to Del Norte. She didn't even struggle when she faced covid a couple of years ago.

"Mixed Experience with Staff and Services"
They really try hard. The staff is always nice and seems to give their best effort. But, there's a high turnover rate and they always have excuses for it. Sometimes, showers get missed, and meds occasionally aren't given on time. Maintenance requests take a while to get answered. The price keeps going up each year by a lot more than they said it would, and they always have an excuse for that too. Even with more money, they still can't keep enough staff. The dining room only serves meals at certain times, not like they said it would. It takes a while to hear back from the administration. The residents are awesome, and most of the staff really cares. The renovations are nice, but they come with a big cost for the residents. It seems like they're done now, but we're still waiting for the third cable transition to finish.

"Assisted Living Needs Fixes to Reach Potential"
The assisted living place takes too long to fix things like lights, keys, and air filters. The walls outside are falling apart, and toilets need fixing too. Dining room wait times are improving, but menus don't match the food. It could be good if they fix everything, but I wouldn't suggest it until then.

"Assisted Living Review: Care Declined as Facility Filled Up"
We liked it more when my mom first moved in. Towards the end, it got busier. As more people moved in, the care wasn't as good. It was harder to be with residents who had more problems, and it got noisier. But the staff were really caring and nice.

"Caring and Knowledgeable Staff Make a Difference"
My dad lives here now, and the staff has been really good at helping him as much as they can. They know a lot about the care he needs. When he gets upset, they’re good at calming him down. The food sounds pretty good with lots of choices. There are many activities too. Residents can go to church on Sundays, work in the garden, and there’s a weekly group for families with loved ones who have Dementia. Overall, I would recommend this place.

"Ideal for Mom"
I really like how the staff here encourages my mom to leave her room. They offer lots of fun activities every day. The caregivers and management are friendly, quick, and dependable. The carpeted rooms are always clean and well-maintained. Plus, the staff communicates well. The food is good, and they even have family lunches a couple of times each month. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a home for their loved ones.

"Heartland Village at Las Villas Del Norte: Great Care and Comfort"
My mom has moderate dementia and lives at the Heartland Village memory care facility in Las Villas Del Norte (LVDN). Her room is spacious with a peaceful view of a sunny courtyard with grass, shrubs, and trees. Visitors are always impressed by how calm and lovely her surroundings are. She even has a private bathroom, which adds to her comfort. The caregivers at Heartland Village are incredibly kind, patient, and friendly. They understand how to care for people with dementia and make sure my mom has all the support she needs. She often tells me how happy she is to be there. There are lots of activities for residents, though my mom doesn’t participate in many because she likes to stay indoors. The staff encourages her, though, and she sometimes joins in, like with flower arranging. This summer, she even wanted to go to the annual luau, which was held in LVDN’s big outdoor courtyard. She had a great time with the buffet, Polynesian entertainment, and her souvenir leis. We both had fun! The food at Heartland Village is well-balanced with a good variety, and they make sure my mom sticks to her low-sugar diet. She doesn’t eat much, so I’ve gotten to try her meals, and they’re tasty! One service that’s really helpful is the transportation to medical appointments. Since my mom uses a wheelchair and has trouble getting into my car, the LVDN bus is perfect for taking her to and from appointments. If I can’t go, they can arrange for a caregiver to stay with her, which is super convenient. After my mom had surgery, she stayed at the LVDN Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) for recovery. Her stay there was wonderful, unlike other places she’s been to. It felt like coming home for her, and when she was ready to leave, they made it easy to move her back to her Heartland room. There’s also a nurse on duty 24/7 at LVDN. My mom has had a few falls, and the nurse always checks on her and decides if she needs to go to the ER, then calls me right away. For future planning, I’m glad LVDN has an option for bed-bound residents. If my mom ever needs more care, she’ll be able to move to that section and stay in a place she already knows and feels comfortable in. Overall, LVDN is a clean, well-kept place with a caring and skilled staff. My mom gets great care and is happy living at Heartland Village.

"Room layout great, food boring. Exercise options lacking. Adjustment ongoing."
My family member is still getting used to living here. He's not happy with the food; he finds it really dull. I think they should involve residents more in exercise activities. He mentioned he went on walks a couple of times, but the exercise equipment they have isn't enough. We picked Las Villas because we really liked how the rooms were set up.

"Thank you, Las Villas Del Norte"
Las Villas Del Norte in Escondido, CA, has been amazing in every way. The staff is kind, caring, and skilled, giving my mom the perfect place to live. Moving her from home to assisted living was hard, but after 9 months here, I’m sure it was the best decision. The facility is clean, safe, and beautiful, with healthy meals and a team that genuinely cares about her well-being. My mom's health, attitude, and happiness have improved so much. I live far away, and they are always available when I need them. I can always reach someone, and they make managing things from a distance easy. "Not The Ideal Place For Assisted Living"
This place didn't really work out for us. Everything had extra cost and it felt like they sort of forgot about them once they moved in. My mom would only come out for her meals and meds, not much else was happening. They were supposed to clean the apartment weekly but I'd say it was more like monthly and it's was pretty poorly done. It wasn't a nice experience overall, and they didn't provide any special care for dementia or Alzheimer's. It's more of a place where they provide basic help.

"Short but Sweet!"
Sadly, our time at Las Villas Del Norte was brief because my mother-in-law passed away (we kind of expected it). She went on hospice shortly after arriving there. The caregivers were amazing during those tough weeks. Our four young daughters often visited Margie with us, and the staff seemed to genuinely enjoy their presence. Even though it was only a short stay, it felt like Grandma's home, and we were grateful for that. Wish it could have been longer, but our time was priceless!

"Decent Assisted Living Facility, but Needs Improvement"
Overall, the service is okay for our needs - my family member only needs help with medicine. The staff is nice and remembers most people's names, with maybe one or two exceptions among the dining room staff. The nurses and care staff pay attention to how the residents are doing. I'm a little worried about how late morning medicine is given if you don't pick it up yourself - it seems really late. The food is okay but having more choices of cooked vegetables would be a good addition. My family member used to like all kinds of food, but now doesn't enjoy the meals here. The high-carb, low vegetable diet has been a big issue for a lot of people living here, based on the meetings we've had. The place's bus isn't reliable so planned trips are often canceled. When you ask about it, you might not receive a response. Despite these problems, my family member stays here. I guess other places probably have their own issues or even worse ones. For now, this is working for us.

On August 19th, I talked to Marie about the 1-bedroom option, which costs $2,263. The facility offers 24-hour nursing care and has a 5-star Medicare rating. They also have a walking club, outings, and a Concert in the Park with packed dinner. The dining room is open from 7 AM to 7 PM, and they have special meals and à la carte options. Transportation to the doctor is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the morning. Mobile physicians visit the facility, which serves both independent and assisted living residents, totaling 100 people
