"Impressionless Old, Dull Assisted Living Facility"
This place didn't impress me at all. It looked pretty old and it wasn't lively or happy.

Some parts of the carpet look pretty worn, but overall, it's a good community. The pricing is fair compared to other places.

"Great care and clean, but some personal items went missing."
I think it is a wonderful and caring community, but I would check on your loved ones often. The residents are engaged in activities. My mom’s room was always clean, never had an odor, and the staff were friendly. The only disappointing thing was that after my mother passed away, many of her clothes were missing when we went to move her things.

"High Costs and Care Level Exceed Needs for Dad's Comfort"
Visited this really fancy, big place. The rooms and stuff are nice, but the monthly cost plus how much help they give is more than I'm willing to spend for my dad.

"Homey Environment with Knowledgeable Staff"
This place feels like home and doesn't smell like a hospital. The staff is smart and the cozy atmosphere helps patients adjust to their new surroundings. They also support families by explaining what to expect with dementia. It's tough when you feel like you're not doing enough for your parent and you're getting worn out. This isn't good for your loved one. Realizing what's best is hard, but this facility shows how good practices help both patients and their families.

"Marymount Transformed My Mom's Health and Happiness"
My mom has been in Marymount's memory care unit on the third floor for about 2 years. Before that, she was at another place where she got no care at all. When she arrived at Marymount, she had a strong smell, sores on her heels, ingrown toenails, and her teeth needed attention. Her hair was messy, and she was stressed and combative. I have a young child with special needs and can't be as involved, so I depend on the facility to meet her daily needs. I was worried and unsure at first, but I knew she needed to leave her previous place. I asked a lot about the staff, cleanliness, and how they would handle her attitude. I was assured she would be well cared for. Over the past two years, she has been improving! Despite having dementia, schizophrenia, and being very strong-willed, Marymount has managed to make a big difference. She smells better, her skin is healthier, her hair and teeth are clean, and her sores are healing. She’s gained weight and her attitude has improved—unbelievable! When I saw her recently, she was in a great mood. Her recent doctor’s visit showed excellent blood work results and overall health. This is a huge improvement from her last place. I’m grateful to Marymount for taking such good care of my mom when I can’t. I feel confident she’s getting the best care and respect. Thank you, Marymount.

My brother's been adjusting to this place, and it's going pretty okay. He's had some bumps along the way, but the staff here is nice, and they're taking care of him. He feels cozy, and things seem to be going smoothly for us here.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
My dad really liked the location in Downtown San Leandro. The room was furnished, but he thought it should be a bit newer for the $6,500 monthly cost. Overall, he liked it, but he wants to check out a few more places before deciding.

"Clean, friendly place with helpful staff and great rooms."
I was really impressed by how clean everything was and the friendly atmosphere. I got to meet the Chef, and the shared-room looks really nice—probably the closest thing to feeling like home. The staff was professional and gave me all the info I needed to make a decision for my Mom.

"Great Place for Care and Community"
My friend is doing better, and I'm happy with where she is. They keep me informed when she's having a hard time, and the staff are really trying to help her. I'm glad she's there. The place is clean, and the food is good. I hear she joins everyone in the dining room for meals. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends who need it.

"Perfect Size and Care for My Dad—Marymount Villa Is Great!"
Making the choice to move a family member to assisted living is tough. Finding Marymount Villa with A Place For Mom was a big help. We looked at two other places, but Marymount was the best. It’s just the right size for my dad—not too big or too small. The place is beautiful, like a nice hotel, with outdoor seating and pleasant walking areas. The staff is friendly, happy, and patient—angels in my eyes. It’s nice to eat in the dining room with him when we visit. They also take him on outings, to doctor appointments, and provide daily afternoon entertainment. I feel sure my dad is safe and well cared for, which gives me priceless peace of mind. The cost is reasonable for the great care he receives.

"Friendly, Personal Care"
Everybody here is friendly and encourages him to join activities, but he’s never pressured. They were honest and very helpful from the start. At first, I was unsure because it didn’t feel as open as another place we visited, but it’s smaller and more personal, which is what we wanted. We’re very happy with the care, and they’re very understanding.

"Marymount Villa Ranks Low; Declines Service to Gay Male"

"Facility Neglects Patients, Fails to Provide Memory Care"
This facility only cares about making money, doing as little as possible for its residents. They claim to be a memory care center, but they can’t handle the common issues faced by dementia patients like wandering and aggressive behavior. When I came to collect my husband's belongings, I found his pants, reeking of urine, on the bathroom floor, where they had been for five days since he was hospitalized. They wouldn’t let him come back until he stayed in the hospital for 15 days, which the hospital refused, or if I hired a personal helper to prevent him from entering others' rooms. Even after moving him, they didn’t refund the payment that was owed to us for breaching the contract. I would never recommend this place. They claimed they would stimulate his mind, but from what I saw, they did nothing.

"Friendly staff, clean facility, great activities, and good food."
Clean facility with friendly staff who care for residents kindly. Lots of sunlight and nice places to relax, like the sunny terrace, garden, and sitting room. The food is good, and there are plenty of activities. It’s a very pleasant place. The staff genuinely cares, always smiling and offering help. They answer questions and assist as needed.

"Feels like a cozy hotel for seniors needing assistance!"
I used to work at a place like this, so I'm pretty particular about how clean and nice everything smells. This place is different from any other I've seen it's more like a little hotel for older folks who need some help.

"Expensive But Only Offers Better Furniture"
The cost was around $4400, but I didn't see any services they offered that Sandoval didn't also provide. The only difference was slightly more fancy decorations. Granted, the place was brand new, so that's understandable.

"Not Ideal for Dementia Care"
My mom stayed there, and it was okay when she could do more on her own. But when she needed more help, it wasn't the right place. They say they have memory care, but it didn't suit my mom. Maybe a bigger place would be better, but this one has too many people working there, which isn't good for dementia care. People with dementia need to see the same faces. I think the caregivers didn't have enough training.

"Not Quite Right for Our Needs"
I thought it was okay. We were almost set on another place until I visited Marymount. It cost a bit more, but that wasn't the problem. My father-in-law requires constant care, and this facility seemed better suited for those who can move around easily and only need assistance with medications and such. It simply wasn't the right fit for us.
